It's pretty neat... I only created Rectangle and Circle shapes thus far. 'Hallways' aren't added yet, but you can kind of see the connections from the circles in the middle to the neighboring rectangles.

I posted a few weeks ago and more things have happened \o/

 

I got engaged. Abigail said yes and I've been over the moon since. We also moved into our new house and got a second pupper!

 

 

 

 

The boston terrier's name is Shapley Named after a famous astronomer Harlow Shapley

 

The blue ticks name is Herschel. He is named after the famous music composer and scientist William Herschel

 

All and all things are going well. Just gotta keep pushing everyday to get better.

I feel so depressed around christmas every year but it's a hint stronger because of the loss of my dad, but I'm definitely hopeful that next year will be a better one.

I achieved a lot this year but it's hard to be truly proud and enjoy any happiness because of how difficult the challenges have been.

Despite this, I don't think anything could be much worse than being strangled and bereaved shortly afterwards, so all things considered... I'm up for 2018

I had two teeth removed today. First surgery ever. It was so weird. I was out of it after the anesthesia so I just took a nap when I got home.

Had Christmas with my parents as usual. For the first time in my life, we went to someone else's house for Dinner. For the first time in my life, my parents house lost power on Christmas day. The power went out at some point after we left, and despite the outage map suggesting otherwise, was restored a couple of hours before we returned, so the house wasn't even cold.

 

Anyway, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and their power stayed on if they're in an area experiencing stormy weather like I am.

This has easily been the best Christmas for me in 5 years. I got to spend the majority of it with my girlfriend and friends instead of having to spend it with family. I wound up getting a bunch of huckleberry products from my girlfriend as gifts that I am super excited to eat. Literally the best fruit ever, but near impossible to cultivate, making it hard to get outside of where they naturally grow.

Christmas is widely overrated imo.

 

For instance, I play Fire Emblem Heroes. A "gacha" game. The subreddit was LIVID that there wasn't any special prizes or bonuses for Christmas. Mind you, the log in bonuses alone are enough to keep any f2p player in the top ranks on a regular basis.

 

Don't expect anything and be happy about what you do have mates.

Long time no see doomy!

I have a "fantasy" spreadsheet where I can put in a price and total sales value, and it tells me how much I theoretically would earn after taxes.

It also includes a projection of how much I would have after X years, assuming I get a normal job and save some each month. (This one doesn't include the capital gains tax rate so it's a bit off. I'd think I'd just deduct it from the interest but I don't know for certain).

It helps motivate me and ease my depression. Even pitiful sale numbers look good after 40 years of investing (assuming 1) I graduate college in 4-5 years 2) I get a decent job soon thereafter)...

 

I'd just be thrilled if I could be financially independent after 20 years or so of entering the workforce. It's feasible if I were to have a moderate amount of sales and get a decent job in a low cost of living area, like here in North Carolina.

 

The dream is to make a game (or something) before I graduate college, make enough to put a down payment on a house, get a good job near Raleigh, NC, and move to Cary (it's a nice town 10 miles near Raleigh).

In other news, I got a job at Staples. Waiting to hear when I go in for orientation. I hit it off really well with the manager during the interview, so I hope that's a good indicator of what's to come.

Anyone know if I made the right call? My BIOS warned me twice thus far about a "power surge." (It shut off and next reboot claimed it shut off because of a power surge, to protect the components). My computer is behind a UPS, so I'm certain it's not a wiring/electrical problem with the outlet or electric service.

 

So I replaced the PSU. Does that sound right? I have no way of testing the old PSU. It seemed to happen whenever I did something (1. load a new website in Firefox with a video 2. open my game I'm developing), so I'm thinking it's the PSU. I hope it's not the GPU...

How long have you played? I tried it for a few days and got bored very quickly because the maps were so small and it was not at all challenging to win battles. I honestly don't remember much about the game. Do you think it stands up on its own as a good (casual) game or is it more something you play here and there when you have nothing better to do and need to kill time? I played Final Fantasy Brave Exvius for quite a while. I had a 300+ day login streak before I accidentally missed one. Turns out that was the only thing keeping me coming back to the game. I haven't played in months, but I think as far as those freemium gacha games go, it's not that bad. I liked it more than Fire Emblem Heroes anyway.

As a large fan of the Fire Emblem series, I very much enjoy Fire Emblem Heroes and have been playing since day one of launch (Feb 2017) and have not missed a single log in day. The content can get a little stale at times, for sure. Some days I'll only play for a few minutes, but other days I'll play for a solid couple hours (here and there over the course of a day). The PVE maps aren't super challenging, but I find most of the entertainment value is building passion project units. Making a meme squad good enough to PvP is a very rewarding experience. I can see why the game isn't for everyone, but it's made some large improvements in gameplay since launch with a huge introduction of new skills and seals. So I guess what I'm saying is, it's a great game to play if you don't want to sink your life into a mobile game.

 

I also really appreciate the fact that I can essentially pause and put my phone down at ant time without losing my place because a lot of my playtime is while I'm not busy at work.
