In my opinion, F2P RuneScape isn't even close to being the best F2P MMORPG. The reason it's so popular is probably because it's browser-based and fairly simple to play.

 

 

 

It's pretty common knowledge that RuneScape is the most popular free MMO. I don't see why it needs a newspost.

What was the point in breaking the news on the main site where 99.9999% of users already have an account?

 

 

 

If this was Blizzard, they'd be bragging all over the gaming websites by now. And while we're on Blizzard, the only reason WoW doesn't get this record is because they don't have an F2P option. If they did...

 

 

 

Funnily enough, I don't actually think Usain Bolt would care either (unless he's an avid RuneScaper as well as the fastest man in the world -.-).

its not very surprising they got the record. thousands of accounts get made every day and half of them will be abandoned after the first day playing on it. also its easy to play no downloads just play it if they are just trying it out

I for one wouldn't be proud of having most kids wasted endless hours of their lives for something that makes there life worse if anything.

Jagex doesn't get anywhere near as much publicity, thus they are urged to talk about it, regardless of it's size, or weight. Unlike WoW where it's common once a month to get some fig good/bad publicity.

Publicity stunt - why didnt they post it last year?

 

130m accs - only 10m active - and only 1m are members, which still contain the macroers and stuff.

 

 

 

The new Tutorial will be more quest-like and exciting, giving players a reason to create a new character and give it a go.

 

The average player probably creates at least 3 acounts that they'll never play or use.

 

 

 

I'm guessing that about 100m of those acounts have less than 2 hours of playing time.

We got on the subject of Runescape in my engineering class (it was unblocked in my school for a few days while they switched web filters) About half of my class of 12 had atleast one account, but none of us played it anymore. Just shows how popular it was, and still is. I would bet about 100-200 people have or are playing the game at my school atleast.

I'm sorry, but he celebrated, whats the big deal. I'm guessing that you haven't played many sports in your life(not trying to be mean, this is just the kind of person i find to make this comment about Bolt) because if you have you would realize that if you don't want him to do that, then beat him. Plus, if you can run a 9.69 100 not even trying, good for you. It's not like he pointed at the other runner and said "Haha".

Because Usain Bolt's performance was better, Phelps has been the top for ages, it's nothing new, Usain Bolt is fairly new to the scene and he bolted his way into the record books in his first ever Olympics? (I think it was his first).

 

 

 

Besides, I reckon Bolt could run sub 9 (under 9 seconds) in 100M if he actually tried... and had no head-wind at all.

 

 

 

I thought the reference to Bolt in their news post was good, especially when they had an external link to Wikipedia about him lol.

 

 

 

On Topic: However, I don't think it's much an achievement for Jagex, I mean, it's not like there are any other good free MMORPGs available for a start.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Sounds interesting, think i'm gonna have to check this one out. Not surprised though, this game does rock and they aren't many other MMPORG's that are free and give competition anywhere near RS.

I played wow for a while wasnt long until i returned to runescape, the majority of gamers for wow are based in korea, as i found out when i was playing the textures are now better than wow on runescape, i'd love to see a close up behind character view on runescape, that would really bring the game to life especially in the dungeons

 

 

 

The way jagex are going, especially with the prospect of pvp coming back i can see WoW having a real competition on their hands, especially with runescape being half the price
