Rebdragon
No, nothing is worth dying for. I see no point in all the world's conflicts... people who start wars are idiots and should use logic instead of violence to solve problems. Anyone with respect for others knows what I'm talking about. Not even other humans? I would die for anyone unless I thought they didn't deserve to live. It's probably because I don't really fear death (just pain) as I don't believe in the ludicrous idea of Hell, and that I've never valued my life all that much. Hm, my belief hasn't really changed from over a year ago. Guess I just hold a stronger dogma that dying for belief is stupidity, that dying for another human is a far more sane reason to give up one's life. That, and I'm not quite so anti-religion as I used to be, and have less of those inane "martyr hero" death scenario's running around in my demented little head >_<. Damn it's weird looking at ancient posts. Nuclear_man2
Some would call me an atheis. (just for the record) Personally I think their are much more pressing things to die for then your beliefs, not saying I would backdown in an arguement, but in that situation I would yield just cause there is more important things to live for to die for such a reason. One thing that would be better to die for is like to protect someone you care for. Anyone who does that probably has probably put their life into thier beliefs and live their life according to thier beileve. Under those conditions i could see someone doing that though I wont agree with doing so. Anyone else probably has some sort of death wish. A belief is an important thing but it shouldnt control your life and probably isnt work dieing for. Thus my suggestion is to evaluate yourself. If you beileve in something worth dieing for, you better be sure it truely is worth dieing for. mrmyk
"No, i'd be too nervous". You can't really say people would be too nervous, perhaps they just didn't believe in something strongly enough to die for it. tripsis
I would die for a person i truely care about. I would never die for my religeon or some BS. I am my own person and follow my life how i choose. Athiest 4lyfe Pretty much my thoughts exactly. To me, dying for someone you care about has meaning - you saved your loved one's life. If someone pointed a gun at me and asked "Are you an atheist?" and I said "Yes," sticking by my belief, that doesn't mean anything to me. The result? I die.. I didn't do anything noble (in my opinion), I didn't save someone's life, etc. I could easily lie and say "No" and not think twice about it. It doesn't change me as a person or cause me to be unable to live with myself. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Ragen
If someone put a gun to my head and said 'Go to Church or die', I know that I'm not going to die. Likewise, if my death would get soft drugs legalised (which in my opinion they should), I wouldn't die because I wouldn't be around to enjoy it. However, if my Country was being threatened (as in by a real army rather than by some guerilla terrorists), I'd risk my life fighting to protect it. A lot of things I believe in, mainly free will as long as you don't affect others are already legal. Others such as Euthenasia and soft drugs (hard drugs are much more likely to affect others in my experiences) are not legal. I'm unsure about how to get them legalised and not devote my life to it but I know that dying isn't going to help. :P Make any sense? Lenin64
What do you mean by "dying for your beliefs"? Like if a guy held a gun to your head and said, "Say you love Jesus or I'll kill you" when I'm Atheist, Hell no I won't refuse. But would I die so that my beliefs could be implemented into society? Depends on which beliefs. Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! Howlin0001
would you die for your beliefs? say your a christian, and a guy with gun says "do u love Jesus" would u say yes knowing you would die? or if your a muslim "do u believe in mohammad" same with other beliefs, would u die for yours? I don't think you can actually answer that question unless you are actually faced with the situation. howlin1
yomom1919
I don't think you can actually answer that question unless you are actually faced with the situation. Exactly, and even then we know the more probable answer is "no". It's funny, because when I put in my vote for "no" in the poll, and the screen was loading, I laughed to myself because I knew the majority of results would say "yes". To anyone who said yes: please, don't kid yourself. I'd be willing to bet that if I held a gun to any of your heads you would denounce your beliefs. [unless you're taking about the military or fighting some tyrannical, abusive power, I'm sure a good portion of us would be willing to do that for a good cause]. I would, however, be willing to die for someone I love.
Howlin0001
I would say the people who would say yes might be people who aren't afraid of death or the people who are brainwashed into doing it.
yomom1919
I would say the people who would say yes might be people who aren't afraid of death or the people who are brainwashed into doing it. I'm not that afraid of death, but that doesn't mean I want to die, or would die for something stupid, such as a personal belief. If the belief effects others or saves lives, then I think I would be willing. But again, like you said, it all comes down to when you're in the situation.
