MageUK
If you can see this news post, congratulations, you're viewing us on the new server! It may take some time for DNS to propagate so that everyone can see the new forums, so please bear with us while we wait for it to happen, it shouldn't take any longer than 4 hours. You can now feel free to post as normal again! EDIT : Please give a big thanks to Neminon for performing the server migration!

onuasdad
So this is going to make the forum faster? Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.
doomy
So it'll be faster now? or what? We won't always have to use the http://208.43.229.199/ will we? Doomy edit: I like sheep
Rarex
Gonna be hard to escape with an helicopter on your trail :ohnoes: Good work but just wondering, how is the new server any different from the previous one? Or is just faster? If we can know :) -Retired from Runescape on August 12, 2008-Working out topicEverything related to working out! Ask questions, get honest answers. The Observer
So it'll be faster now? or what? We won't always have to use the http://208.43.229.199/ will we?You won't have to keep entering that into your address bar, if that's what you mean. Yes, it's only temporarily. Also, you get the link to it anyway, so you don't need to memorize it.
n_odie
The transition right now is making the domain: forum.tip.it = 208.43.229.199 instead of the old ip. Or so I think... RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!
Sbrideau
The forum IS faster :) Instead of 5 seconds each time, this time it only took 0.22 seconds. Good work Tip.it Staff :).
Cup Lion
Can't notice much, but I guess everything is done for a reason. Keep up the work, Tip.It staff. |Signature by Jason321|
onuasdad
I guess it is faster by a milisecond or two. It'd be nicer if the posts would be kept, but I doubt this would happen. speedofsound
I appreciate the effort you put into supporting this forum. Good job  You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." MageUK
The new server will improve a lot of things, the main ones : [*:aaydyef8]Searches should be faster [*:aaydyef8]Page generation times should be quicker [*:aaydyef8]We should be able to take more concurrent users without getting MySQL errors As for using the IP, that's just to allow you to access the forum while we're waiting for forum.tip.it to sort itself out. Once forum.tip.it is working correctly, the IP will automatically force you to forum.tip.it and you can use that address just like you used to. This should be complete by tomorrow night. InkofDeath
Glad to be able to post normally again. Excellent job on continuing the support of the forums though. Though I don't know if this is relevant or not, but the 'Font Colour' thing at the side of posts is now smaller instead of larger. So good job to whoever did that. :)

aquariusman
I'm experiencing the exact same speed for loading a page, the low/mid 0.2s range, with a few jumps to 0.5s We'll see if this speed is constant, because at times I've had a load time of 5s before. If it makes things better for others, then I guess it's worth it. EDIT: Actually, it looks like my load time is cut in half. While it is barely noticeable, according to the information at the bottom, my load time has been cut down by .1s, to 0.1-0.09s. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. Macmaster92
I do like that the format for different resolutions was fixed. Sometimes stuff just would load right on smaller resolutions. Even though that problem probably had nothing to do with the server switch, and you just fixed it at the same time. Good job!
