I'd just like to put a question out here. How many people have actually used the Ectofungus thingy for prayer xp except for the ghosts ahoy quest? Probably a very small percentage.

Have you even tried out Grind-x, it just makes it require slightly less clicking and unless you were afking while doing it normally, makes it no slower. And you still have to go and get the ecto from downstairs, this is only to do with grinding the bones!! :wall:

 

 

 

 

 

It's still waay better to use a guilded alter.

This aside, someone once told me I was a noob for burying bones. Apparently he thought that there were alternatives 4 years ago.

I've used the Ecto for forever... even before the agility shortcuts. I have 191K Ecto-tokens in my bank... I just want a good use for my tokens really.

 

 

 

Prayer hasn't be killed at all. This is such a small change compared to the altars IMO.

i just got 70 prayer at the ectofunctus, cost me 3mil, i find this quite frustrating

The Gilded Altar has been the best way (by a country mile) of training Prayer ever since the Construction update came out some... 3ish (?) years ago.

 

 

 

The ectofuntus temple has nothing to do with the Gilded Altar, and thus, has not made the skill easier.

 

 

 

Clicking is not a skill. I'm sorry, you're just not convincing me there's any skill involved there.

 

 

 

If you wanna look at what's killed Prayer, look at the Gilded Altar, look at the increases in xp, look at the fact you can earn millions of GP an hour in this game, and look at the availability of Dragon Bones in the market.

dragon bones on gilded alter is so easy its untrue

 

i got 60 prayer on ectofungas then 70 on gilded alter

Like now a few monthes, many skills interfaces are evolving to require less clics. "Grind X" is simply following that point.

 

It doesn't makes the Ectoing cheaper. You still need the bones/buckets to grind. You won't bury the bones with a wrong clic and that will make you save some precious bones. That the only advantage but it doesn't change the skill itself.

 

 

 

It doesn't make it faster. As for other "Make X" you often could be faster with manual making with some attention and stress.

 

 

 

What it makes ?

 

It saves your arms, wrist, nerves by the clic spared. And that has a sense. Being in the same position and doing the same movements a long time isn't healthy. The short rest time it brings added to less repetition is good for the player. You can calculate the clics it saves for a 30-99 prayer at ecto... no comments required.

 

 

 

in conclusion :

 

- it saves the extra bones you burried by mistakes : not related to the skill and can makes it more attractive.

 

- it is not faster

 

- it saves a (small) health on your hands

 

- it won't replace the speed of poh altars and the process keeps its nature of being the most rewarding xp per bones.

Now I would, normally, agree wholeheartedly with that statement. However, in the case of the Ectofunctus, this simply is not true. I just tried the new grinder, one click does all. Trouble is it's much slower than when I clicked each part. You were able to click on the next section of the grinder as soon as the animation started. So, for example, when my character's arm started moving to put a bone in the hopper, I would click on the grind wheel. This increased the speed that the character got to, and wound the wheel. Same for the other animation sections.

 

 

 

The result is: easier (less clicking) but much slower (over two minutes slower per load of 13 bones).

 

 

 

I'm not complaining, per se, just disagreeing with the "clicking is not a skill" comment with respect to this particular case.

You still need to stock up on buckets of ecto, and mix them all together with your grounded bone at the ectothingie.

People seem to be thinking that less carpal tunnel = bad in this game. Why? Because they didn't offer it to you? The general consensus seems to be that if I didn't enjoy it while I was leveling up, it sucks and needs to be removed. They have a word for that, it's called being selfish.

Anything that does Do-x actually make training that skill easier. The reason behind that is during the time you chararcter is doing something (usually takes 30 second or longer) you are able to do something else while you wait, so no more paying full attention to your monitor, you can just probably read something or watch tv at same time.

 

 

 

A good example is cooking, back then, you used to click and cook on fire, and repeat. (thats why when someone stand on the fire, u started to have insult flying all over the place. And back then, cooking was consider harder because you have to click so much, only people that dont mind grinding for hours on end that get lvl 99 cook.) The difference is now when the person cooks, they just cook all and then sit back and relax, dedicated their time to someone or something else. (Thus time flies without feeling that aching wrist or frustrating chat with people) Notice how many cook 99 now compare to before (I am sure it applies to smith, and fletch too)? Have anyone try to firemake and chat at same time? its near impossible to achieve good xp per hour if you have people interrupt you for hours (not they are rude, just make it hard to train overall) thats why some people just turn chat off.

 

 

 

So, when you make a clicking skill like prayer or firemaking do the x option, its makes the skill easier, and it will end up like cooking, and no one respect it because its easier to train, but in the end, its all just xp, there is always argument popping up saying the old style is harder, or new style is easier, either way, thats what it shows on the highscore, no one will care if you click your way to lvl 99 or click x way to lvl 99.

 

 

 

Being said, it will be funny if they make something like burn x for firemaking. As for prayer, unless they make bury x, we really dont have to worry about anything.......

 

 

 

PS: I am a F2P, even with bury x in place, burying 2.2mil normal bones or 650k big bones is no small feat, I will probably get carpel tunnel doing that, I already almost hurt my wrist getting that firemaking to lvl 99 with willow..........

That's all nice and dandy, but the thing is, Ecto'ing has never been a viable option ever since POH came out. Anyone using ectofunctus doesnt know the time-money economics. It's like they would upgrade mith daggers. People could complain how training melee has become easier, however, that all doesnt matter, since people can use better things anyway.

It's probably the same speed as before, just less strain on wrist.

I still remember when less then 21 people had 99 prayer. That was back when RS2 was just released.
