Introduction

In my opinion Slayer is one of the best skills Jagex has implemented in the game. Through training it you will have variety in the monsters that you kill, special drops that only a slayer of the appropriate level can obtain, and the opportunity to max out all of your offensive skills (Attack, Strength, Defense, Range, and Mage).

The guide that follows is the result of a promise I had made in the past that when I reach 99 Slayer I will give out my secrets to becoming a high level Slayer. I do not aspire to become the most well known authority on the skill, or write an all inclusive skill guide. For a basic guide Tip.it's official skill guide is more than impressive for getting started in the skill. Instead this guide is to help the serious slayer level 75+ reach their goal of 85 or higher.

With that in mind know that all that follows is my opinion and is the methods I myself used while becoming a 99 Slayer.

Before You begin there are some prerequisites that I'll assume you already have accomplished if you are serious about being an efficient slayer. They are the following quest, skill, and equipment recommendations. Note, if a quest is listed I assume you know that you must complete the prerequisites to the quest that is listed.

Worlds to Train On

One of the most important things to look for when embarking on your task is for a relatively clear or uncrowded training area. With the number of worlds climbing most training spots have less of a burden on them and you should have a relatively enjoyable experience no matter what world you choose.

But... to be an efficient slayer you need to train on a full world. Why? Because the fuller the world, the faster the monster re-spawn. Take for example, you are training range on Nechryael in my suggested spot. On an empty world you will have to wait 20 seconds or longer for the next Nechryael to appear. When you are fighting on a full world the Nechryael will re-spawn almost as soon as you retrieve your arrows. This over time will save you a great deal of time and will make your Gargoyle, Nechryael, and any other re-spawning monster slaying assignment far more enjoyable.

Your ideal world for slayer? World 2. With the majority of people no lifing in Falador selling and reselling their items the rest of the world is fairly barren. If you have trouble getting on to world 2 other high use worlds will work for re-spawn rates but are more likely to have a competitor for your training locations.

Smoking Kills Quest

In June of 2008, the Smoking Kills quest was released, which was the first major update to Slayer since the skills release. It released a new master, new locations for training on monsters, new Slayer equipment, a drastic reordering of assigned monsters, and slayer rewards for doing consecutive assignments.

The update was viewed as mostly positve. There are those who frown upon people being able to get free slayer experience as a reward, thus making their hard work and achievments lessened. But overall it is an exciting change to the Slayer skill.

Note: Cannon doesnt work at turoths and kurasks.

The major change to your Slaying with this update is that you can no longer afford to us the Burthorpe master to swap your tasks, since it resets your assignment count to 0. Instead it will be more beneficial to utilize the monster blocking for your most hated tasks. If there is a monster that you still need to skip past that you can choose to skip it one time for 30 points. This is frowned upon, becasue those points will be better (more profitably) utilized buying Slayer Dart cast runes and selling them (once you've unlocked all the knowledge you need from the Masters). Since Smoking Kills, instead of Burthorping, skip. Just don't forget Tureal, and all the good 50 dog tasks he would drop on you.

Many people have been deciding to use a lesser Master (Lost City or Pollnivneach) for faster tasks then doing a Kuradal assignment on ever 10th task to get the bonus Slayer reward points. This is a great strategy to use for acquiring points. Most elite slayers stick with Kuradal though.

Kuradal's Dungeon

msgancientcaverns.png

In early December 2009 Slayers noticed a character appearing in Slayer locations stat spying the monsters then disappearing. The next week Kuradal's dungeon was released.

This adds many new features for high leveled Slayers with Kuradal as a new Slayer Master, Kuradals Dungeon, Ferocious Rings, new tasks, and the option to attempt the Fight Caves as a Slayer task.

Kuradal requires 75 Slayer and 110 combat in order to utilize her. You also need to have started Barbarian Training with Otto in the Barbarian Outpost in order to access the Ancient Cavern.

Kuradal is located by going up the Rough Hewn Steps in the South West corner of the Ancient Cavern. You can get there by using a games necklace to the barbarian outpost then taking the whirpool into the cavern, unlocking the Fairy ring by the waterfiends and then using code BJQ (Requires 5 bittercap mushrooms and a spade to repair the ring), or by teleporting there with a Ferocious Ring (See following entry).

In addition to being the highest Slayer Master in game, she has collected the following monsters in her dungeon which you can only enter if you are on task for one of them.

Abyssal Demons

Blue Dragons

Dark Beasts

Gargoyles

Greater Demons

Hellhounds

Iron Dragons

Steel Dragons

With the exception of Dark Beasts, where it is debateably better to fight them on the light temple path for rune ores, all the above monsters should be slain in Kuradals Dungeon. This is because you can only go in there while you are on task, ensuring less congestion and no campers. You'll also be able to utilize the Ferocious Ring.

The dungeon has 2 agility obstacles which you can use to bypass some of the monsters en route to your task. 90 Agility for the south obstacle and 86 for the northern obstacle.

There are no random events while in Kuradal's Dungeon.

If you receive TzHaar Volcanic Creatures as a task you have the option of upgrading it to attempt to kill the fight caves and kill TzTok-Jad. See their entry in Kuradal Assignments for more information.

Ferocious Ring

msgferocius.png

The ferocious ring is a unique drop of all monsters in Kuradals dungeon. It adds 4 to all damage done to monsters within her dungeon ( you can still hit a 0 however). It acts similar to a ring of life in her dungeon (If you die while fighting in her dungeon you'll teleport to her dungeons entry). It also has 5 teleports to the entrance of her dungeon.

They are somewhat uncommon of a drop but you can expect to get 1-3 rings per task in her dungeon. Once you get a decent supply of them you can utilize them to help bank dragon bones or other drops midtask and quickly return. However with Fairy ring BJQ (Which you can use after repairing it with 5 bittercap mushrooms and a spade) this feature is just a luxury.

Fairy Rings

In July 2006 the Fairy Tale Part 2 Quest unlocked a Fairy teleportation system when you are doing the quest. With it you can access many shortcuts and unique places that will aid you in slayer.

DKR- Teleports you east of Edgeville. This is useful to help you easily access the Lost City Slayer Master and other Fairy Ring Locations by using a Glory charge to Edgeville, walk east, then access the Fairy Ring.

CKS-Canafis Mushroom Patch. Closest teleport to the Slayer tower.

AJR- Slayer Dungeon Entrance. Easily access monsters in the Slayer Cave.

ALR- Abyssal Area. This is a new area that is a new place to kill Abyssal Demons. Also contains the the monsters that drop Rune Pouches. This is an alternative location to kill Abyssal demons and is not better than the Slayer Tower in my opinion, but many people like it because they can easily bank using the DKR Edgeville Tele to bank their loot and get back to the slaying.

AIQ- Mudskipper Point for Mogres. If assigned Mogres easy access.

BIQ- Kalphite Lair Enterance.

BJQ- Ancient Caverns- Fast access to Waterfiends and returning to Kuradal's dungeon.

AJQ- Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon for Molanisks.

DKS- Brine Rats (Dig with Spade next to tree)

DIR- Goraks

DLQ- Nardah Desert Lizards. Easy Access to Desert Lizard tasks.

Player Owned Houses

house3.png

Player Owned houses provide a variety of benefits to Slayer which makes having one essential to being an efficient Slayer.

Chief among them being teleportation, restoring prayer, and recharging summoning points. At a minimum you need, with your house in Yanille, 2 Portal chambers housing all of the Teleports minus obviously Yanille, A quest hall with a Mounted Glory Amulet, a Menagerie with a Summoning obelisk and an altar.

The portal Chamber makes you able to use the Kharyrll Teleport to get to the Canafis Pub, and eliminating your need to use the Ectophile to get to the slayer tower. The mounted Glory eliminates your need to recharge Glory amulets to get to Edgeville. An altar will give you an easily accessible place to recharge your pray between tasks. An armor stand will allow you to repair your Barrows armor. A menagerie will allow you to top off Summoning points without needing to find an obelisk.

I personally have used my wealth from Slayer to design a house for Slayer's. I have 3 Major Slayer Heads, all 3 fish, both lecterns for making Teleport Tablets/Bones to Peaches Tablets, a huge dungeon with all monsters/Steel dragon, a Menagerie with all 5 Soul War Slayer Pets, a castle Wars inspired PVP area of the dungeon, a Demonic Throne, and all the houses furnishings in Marble and Gilded. The house is used for many Slayer's LVL 99 Parties and other events hosted by The Slayer's Guild .

Cannon or No Cannon?

The Dwarf Cannon is a very useful tool in quickly getting slayer levels. In the monster lists that follow I will note if it is a cannonable monster. Some monsters are best dealt with by using a cannon, others it is very nice to have if you can afford it.

You must decide for yourself if the time saved is worth the investment. I personally think it would be in helping you get to 85 where you can likely make your money back with several whip drops. After that it is very helpful but you realize that you are throwing money away when you use it.

I personally enjoy the cannon and used it when I can find a decent deal on cannonballs. I saw it as a faster route to my ultimate goal of 99 slayer and is very good range experience.

Black Masks

msgblackmask.png

In July 2006 the Cave Horror was released. In addition to dropping the same herb seeds as the level 80 Slayer required Nechryael, their unique drop, the Black Mask is an essential tool for the serious slayer. It lets you hit a considerable amount harder, thus finishing your slayer assignments faster.

"Black Masks are gathered from the corpses of cave horrors give a couple of bonuses when worn. Firstly, they provide attack and defense bonuses similar to a Salve Amulet when fighting your Slayer assignment. Secondly, the masks contain a spell that can reduce your opponent's defense by 3-10 levels, regardless of whether they are your Slayer assignment or another player."

A few notes:

-The salve effect only happens when you are fighting your assigned slayer monster.

-Black mask effect only works on Melee, not Range or Mage.

-If fighting a monster that requires protective headgear, you can't use the Black Mask.

-You cannot combine the Black Mask and the Salve Amulet for undead creatures.

-The special is random and number of charges doesn't affect the power of the salve affect.

-There is no way to recharge your mask after it has run out of special charges. The mask stone near the Cave Horrors entrance will not allow you to recharge it.

-The Black Mask can be upgraded into a Slayer Helmet after the Smoking Kills quest and collecting 400 Slayer points. It combines the Black Mask, Earmuffs, Nosepeg, Spiny Helm and Face Mask.

Godswords

msgsgs.png

With the addition of the God Wars Dungeon, a new and powerful type of weapon had been introduced for slayer, the Godsword. When potted, and using Piety, the standard attack of a godsword is better, but a bit slower than a whip. There are 4 different Godswords but one of them, the Saradomin Godsword (SGS) was touted as the Best for slayer and one that could replace the need for Guthan's. The special of the SGS heals half of the damage dealt to HP and a quarter of the damage dealt to Prayer, with a minimum of 10 HP and 5 Prayer (granting you do at least 1 damage with your special).

This sounds amazing, and it is, until you realize that your specs don't always hit and with each spec using half the spec bar you have a limited chance to heal or risk having to wait around at low HP for your spec bar to recharge.

With most monsters this really never posed a problem however Nechryaels proved especially challenging with their death spawns and high damage. I personally decided to sell the Godsword and go back to the tried and true Guthan's. Thats not to say the SGS is bad, it just isn't a replacement for Guthan's. You generally will need to take a set along with you for the off chance that you need to heal. And if SGS can't fully replace Guthan's, then it isn't worth the high price just for the novelty of leeching Prayer points.

With time, the prices on the Godswords have become more affordable. Paired with a summoning familiar the Godsword has become a total replacement for Guthan's and is worth a second look if you can afford it.

Combat Bracelet

msgcombatbracelet.png

On 30 April 2007 Jagex released a crafting update that gave slayers a new piece of jewelry. The combat bracelet. While offensively they are less than half as good as barrows gloves, they have an interesting feature which makes them handy overall to lower slayers and delightful on certain occasions.

Along with allowing wearer a teleport to Warriors', Champions', Ranging Guild, and Monastery. Updates wearer with their Slayer totals every tenth target they need to kill. This can be recharged on the totem poll in the Legends guild.

On cannon tasks they are particularly useful, especially daganoths, where its easy to miss the task complete message in the past.

However most slayers will agree this is a letdown.

Karamja Gloves 3

msgkaramja3.png

On 8 May 2007, Jagex released the Achievement Diary. Its a task list completable by people who have done certain things around Karamja. If you are a Legend, can access Shilo Villages, and are 100 combat, along with other well rounded stats, you can complete all the tasks and be rewarded Karamja Gloves 3.

The gloves have the feature of a teleport to the gem mine in northern Shilo Village. A short walk away from Duradel the Shilo Village Slayer Master.

These gloves are great for swapping assignments, and negate the previous benefit of the Contact NPC lunar spell. Now if you have Games necklaces and these gloves you can rapidly change assignments.

However with the Kuradal update, their benefit is lessened once you are able to use Kuradal as your Slayer Master.

Enhanced Excalibur

msgenhexcal.png

After completing the Hard Seers Achievement Diary the lady of the lake will upgrade your Excalibur sword. The result is a defense boost and 20 HP healed over 10 seconds per full special bar.

This has been called the poor mans Saradomin Godsword for its healing properties. It is very handy in Slayer for lightly damaging enemies or for when your Bunyip runs out. A great tool that eliminate needing to bank near the end of a task when you are out of food.

Lunar Magics

With the Lunar Diplomacy Quest a new set of Magic is introduced with an interesting spell for slayers. At 67 Magic you can use the Contact NPC skill which allows you to talk to your slayer masters without visiting them.

On 15 May 2007 Jagex released the Dream Mentor Quest which allows an expansion of the lunar spells. If you are 96 magic you have the Spellbook swap available to you which allows you to swap spells for 1 casting before going back to lunars. This allows you to alc, teleport anywhere in the game, and use bones to peaches, thus taking away my prior disdain for the spell set.

If you have 96 magic this is a very exciting option of spells to use if you can afford or enjoy making the runes required. It makes getting new assignments and doing Level 3 clues effortless with every teleport option available to you. This is the method I currently employ.

However, most players not having 96 magic, and with access to Karamja Gloves 3, you can still utilize the classic spells. It is also more rune intensive than the traditional way of getting around.

Summoning

On Jan 15 2008 the Summoning skill was released. With it many Slayer monsters got a fresh look because they had Charms added to their drops which are used in leveling that skill. This essentially makes Slayer a feeder skill to Summoning. Though it might be faster to camp certain monsters to collect charms, you would be better off leveling slayer on task then using the charms from it to level Summoning.

There are several familiars which aid in Slayer. Beasts of Burden, and combat familiars are helpful and should be tried out to see which ones you prefer.

Two familars are worth noting and drasticly change how you slay. Level 68 Bunyip and Level 88 Unicorn Stallion.

summoning.png

The easier to obtain Bunyip essentially replaces Guthan's for many. His ability constantly heals you 2 HP as you slay.

The Unicorn Stallion is the next major upgrade in summoning for Slayer. Its special scroll heals you for 15% and can cure poison.

Personally I think all slayers should aim for 68. The addition to your combat level will assist in stopping brimhaven dogs from attacking you, and not having to switch to Guthan's wil speed up your tasks. Level 88 is a long term goal for many which you will eventually reach, and is preferred by those who have it.

Stronghold of Security

The Stronghold of Security update released July 2006 is located under the Barbarian village. It offers interesting alternative spots to the locations presented in this guide for the Burthorpe Slayer Master. Complete the Stronghold of security and decide for yourself if you want to use these alternative locations for the following monsters.

Personally I stick to my original spots out of habit but I do see the value of these new locations if you don't mind answering security questions to reach your assigned monsters. Please note the level listed next to the monster is the level of the security dungeon these monsters are located.

Note: Once you have completed the stronghold of security you can utilize the portals at the beginning of each level to teleport to the end of the level you are on to access the monsters faster. many people are unaware of this.

Ankou Level 4

Flesh Crawler Level 2

Ghosts Level 4

Goblins Level 1

Minotaurs Level 1

Scorpions Level 3

Skeletons Level 4

Chaos Tunnels

msgborkmap.png

With the release of Summoning, Jagex added the Chaos Tunnels underneath the wilderness which hosts many of the monsters listed elsewhere in this guide. It has the negative of not being able to use Cannons, but the positive of the entire Tunnel system being multi combat. This allows people that can afford it the ability to use Red Chinchompas to power through Nechryael and other tasks. But it also makes it more dangerous, with harder hitting monsters double or triple teaming you.

Monsters you can use the Chaos Tunnels as an alternate for are:

Black demon

Bronze dragon

Dagannoth

Deadly red spider

Dust devil

Fire giant

Gargoyle

Ice troll female

Ice troll male

Infernal mage

Nechryael

Turoth

Waterfiend (Not Recommended)

For many of the monsters it is a matter of personal preference, however if you can do without cannoning, you should elect to do your Black Demon tasks here. For whatever reason the Black demons in the Chaos tunnels are great droppers of charms, but the Edgeville and Taverly Black Demons drop very few.

Wilderness Volcano

msgwvolcano.jpg

After Bounty Hunter was removed from the Wilderness Volcano, they placed some monsters in there as an alternative training spot:

Skeletons

Lesser Demons

Greater Demon

Hellhounds

Ankou

To access it the easiest option is to use a Games Necklace.

It is a great alternative for helhounds and greater demons for those who find their regular places crowded.

Revanants aren't in the Volcano but can follow people in.

After you are able to access Kuradals Dungeon this location becomes moot, but it is still popular and relatively safe for PVP Slayers.

Wild Jade Vine

msgwildjadevine-1.png

After completing the Back to My Roots quest you can fight the Jade Vine once a day for 2500 Slayer Xp. 59 Slayer is required. You need to have a Woodcutting axe equipped, a secateurs in your inventory, a dose of Super antipoison, food, and armour equipped (Dragonhide or Melee, Depending on which protection prayer you choose to use.).

The Wild Jade Vine has a Magic and Melee Attack, So use the protection prayer opposite of the type of Amour you have on. Take a dose of Super Anti Poison and start the fight. Eat when required. Chop down and re-plant the Jade Vine Seed before you leave.

Phoenix Lair

msgphoenix.png

After completing the In Pyre Need quest you will be able to fight it daily for 500 Slayer Xp, 5 Phoenix feathers, 7500 Firemaking Xp, 3000 Fletching Xp, and 1000 Crafting Xp.

The Phoenix itself is easily handled but the journey there is treacherous for those unprepared.

You'll need:

51 Slayer

A tinderbox, Secateurs, and Knife.

Melee or mage armour.

Whip or Godsword

2 Prayer Potions.

Full inventory of food (Shark or better).

A 1 click teleport (Ectophial or Teleport Tablet) for emergencies.

Using Fairy Ring Code AKQ, go West, and enter the lair.

You need to get to the green area of the minimap on each level and cut a branch off the tree on each of the 5 levels that contain them.

After you get the branch from each level, fo to the exit to reach the next. Once you have all 5 you enter the Phoenix Lair.

Once in use your knife on one of the branches. Then use the resulting weaving ribbins on the pyre below the altar.

After a short animation the Phoenix will attack. Turn on protect from Mage and the Phoenix is easily downed. Once defeated it will sit in the pyre. Use your tinder box on the pyre and the Phoenix will be reborn.

Talk to the Phoenix to receive you reward of 5000 Slayer Xp the first time and the aforementioned reward each time thereafter.

Because of the time and danger required for minimal Xp, most slayers choose not to do this mini game.

Bork

msgbork-1.png

msgborkmap.png

After completing the Chaos Tunnels: The Hunt for Surok mini quest, you will be able to fight him daily receiving 250 Slayer XP, 7 crimson, 2 green, 5 blue, 1 ruby, 1 emerald, 1 sapphire, and a random amount of GP between approximately 2,500-8000 GP. To fight him you first need to talk to Surok East of Varrock by the Saradomin Statue and follow him through the Chaos tunnels using the provided map. You will know you are at the right portal when you see footprints by the portal. Eventually you will end up at a portal in the west of the Dagannoth's room. This will be where you go each time you want to fight Bork (It isn't required to retrace the path of Surok again, just go straight to the Dagannoth's room and into the portal.).

To fight Bork you are best served using dragonhide, Helm of Neitiznot, Whip/Godsword, Super Att/Str, Prayer Potion, and a fair amount of Food. Pot up, turn on your Protection from Melee/Piety and engage Bork. Surok (His associate after the first battle) will hit you with some damaging Magic, which you Dragonhide will minimize, and you'll be safe from Bork's Melee Attack. After you get him down in life he will call his minions into the fight. Just reselect Bork and finish the battle, eating when you are down in life.

Skeletal Horror

msgskeletalhorror.png

After Completing the Fur n Seek quest and completing the Rag and Bone Mans additional bone Wish List you can kill the Skeletal Horror once a week for 1250 Slayer XP and 1000 Prayer XP.

You need:

Full Pray to use Protect from Mage

Good Melee Armour

Whip and Dragon Dagger or Godsword

Full inventory of food

Attack, Strength, and defence boosting potions.

Bonesack (e) or Ram Skull Helm (e)

You can use the Bonesack (e) or Ram Skull Helm (e) to teleport directly to the Rag and Bone Man.

Go northand up the stairs on the right. After a short animation turn on protect from mage as his mage attack hits very hard. Use all your melee specials on the monster. Soon the monster will scream in pain and a pice of bone will fly off. Go pick up the bone and bury it. this will happen 3 times after each his combat level will go down and his max damage also be reduced.

After the 4th and final round of fighting he will die. Talk to the Rag and Bone man who is looking on and receive your reward.

Since the Xp is low and you can only do it once a week, many slayers skip this fight or don't know about it.

Monsters

Since this guide is aimed at the serious Slayer, I will assume you are using Lost City, Pollnivneach, Shilo, or Kuradal.

I myself use Kuradal because she gives you a higher number of monsters per assignment on average.

Burthorpe monsters are listed because when you get a monster that must be Burthorped (Skipped) you want to get it over as quickly as possible. However, after the Smoking Kills update to Slayer, Burthorpe is no longer an option to the Serious Slayer, as you reset your task counter when you skip a task through Burthorpe. So you need to choose to Fight, Block, or Skip. For lower Slayers, or those more interested in speed, Burthorpe remains an option, but most have moved on.

All that follows are my techniques that I have discovered through my time training the skill of Slayer. If there are better spots or techniques feel free to discuss and I will investigate and update if it is warranted but as it stands these are in my opinion the best methods available.

Burthorpe Assignments

Burthorpe, Lvl 3 Combat. 15-50 (Unless Noted Otherwise)

Banshees- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Bats- Clues- No Charms- Task 28, Gold 2, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgbats.png

The best spot I have found is the Giant Bats by the coal trucks. Teleport to camelot, go west and cross the agility obstacle and kill the bats there.

Bears- Clues- No Charms- Task-17, Gold 1, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgbears.png

Teleport to Ardougne. Go north-east a bit and kill the bears around the coal mine.

Birds- Clues- No Charms- No

msgbirds.png

Kill chickens to quickly do this task. Easiet to access are the undead chickens just west of the Ectofuntus.

Cave Bugs- Clues- No Charms- No

msgcavebugs.png

Cave bugs are very easily killed but you need to go into the lumbridge swamp caves to kill them. Bring a lantern, take the shortcut through the lumbridge basement, and kill the cave bugs in the first room of the cave.

Cave Slimes- Clues- Lvl 1 Charms- No

msgcaveslimes.png

Cave slimes are in the Lumbridge Swamp Dungeon. Its assignment are usually small. They drop iron boots. Just bring a Super Anti poison and a Spiny Helmet to protect you from the wall beasts and quickly finish this task.

Cows- Clues- No Charms- No

msgcows.png

West of the Ectofuntus you can slay the Ghost Farmer's Undead cows. Use your Ectophial to get there.

Crawling hands- See Lost City Assignments.

Desert Lizards- Clues- No Charms- No

msgdesertlizards.png

Desert lizards are an annoying task but are weak and easily killed. They require an ice cooler per each one you are to kill. They are located in the desert South West of Uzer. To do this task go through the shanty pass, take the carpet to Uzer, and finish your assignment quickly. Alternately you can use the Fairy Ring Code: DLQ and go north to get to the same location. Desert lizards themselves don't deal alot of damage but ensure you remember waterskins.

Dogs- Clues- No Charms- Task 45, Gold 2, Green 5, Crimson 1, Blue 0

msgdogs1.png

msgdogs2.png

For a small assignment you can range the Guard Dogs at the mansion in east Ardogne. For a huge assignment (40+) you might consider going into the Brimhaven Dungeon and killing the dogs in the Wild Dog Room.

Dwarves- Clues- No Charms-Task 28, Gold 1, Green 0, Crimson 0, blue 1

msgdwarfs.png

Dwarves are located all over Runescape. The easiest spot is north of Falador. Go down into the dwarven mines where you purchase the Dwarf Multi-Cannon and kill the 5 spawn of dwarves at the bottom of the ladder.

Ghosts- Clues- No Charms- No

msgghosts2-1.png

You have 2 decent options for your tasks. For lower combat people stick to the Taverly dungeon. Those a bit higher should kill the Tortured Souls surrounding the Ectofuntus.

Goblins- Clue- Lvl 1 Charms- Task 35, Gold 5, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msggoblins.png

Teleport to Lumbridge and kill the goblins in the Goblin Hut.

Icefiends- Clue- Lvl 1 Charms- Task 22 Gold 1, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgicefiends.png

North of falador on ice mountain by the oracle.

Minotaurs- Clue- Lvl 1 Charms- No

msgminotaurs.png

Minotaurs are located on level 1of the Stronghold of Security dungeon under the Barbarian village. They are easily killed with melee. There are in multiple places in the security dungeon but the quickest accessible ones for slayer are in the SW corner of the first level of the Security dungeon.

Monkeys- Clues- No Charms- No

msgmonkees.png

Use the abyss to go to the nature alter. Go outside of it and there are many monkeys for you to slay. Range is preferred.

Scorpions- Clues- No Charms- Task 47, Gold 3, Green 1, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgscorpions.png

Access the Dwarfen mines through the East Falador entrance and deal with the scorpions there.

Skeletons- Clues- No Charms- No

msgskeletons.png

I go to the Karamja Volcano up past Elvrag's lair and kill the skeletons there. Keep an eye open for Champion Challenge Scrolls.

Spiders- Clues- No Charms- Deadly Red Spiders, Task 34, Gold 17, Green 2, Crimson 1, Blue 0

msgspiders.png

The Stronghold of Security dungeon under the barbarian village has a great concentration of spiders and is the best spot in the game to kill them outside of the wilderness. They are located on the 3rd level of the dungeon.

Wolves- Clues- No Charms- Task 49, Gold 2, Green 2, Crimson 5, Blue 0

msgwolves.png

Wolves can be found on White Wolf Mountain. Teleport to Al Kharid then use the gnome glider to get there quickly. Since it is Multi Combat a cannon can help but is a bit overkill.

Zombies- Clues- No Charms- Task 20, Gold 1, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgzombies.png

The mage guild basement makes quick work of these. Use the watchtower teleport and range or mage the Zombies quickly. Otherwise you can find them in the Edgeville Dungeon close to the Edgeville Slayer Master. Keep an eye open for Champion Challenge Scrolls.

Lost City Assignments

Lost City, 70 Combat. 110-170 (Unless Noted Otherwise)

Aberrant spectres- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Banshees- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Basilisks- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Blue dragons- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Bloodvelds-See Shilo Village Assignments.

Brine Rats- Clues- No Charms- Task-174, Gold 40, Green 4, Crimson 4, Blue 1

msgbrinerats.png

Brine Rats you to have had started Olaf's Quest and need a spade. They are most easily reached using Fairy Ring code DKS, then dig with a spade. You'll drop into a cave which has the monsters north of you after you wind around a passageway.

They drop a good deal of death runes and noted sharks along with it's rare drop, the Brine Sabre. You can easily kill them with a whip and Guthans. Bones to peaches are also a good spell to heal with. The rats hit harder than you'd expect so you will need to eat on assignment. They are a fun task to cannon as well if you care to but there's little return on your balls used.

Bronze dragons 30-60-Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Drops all, 1 at a time.

Burthorpe/Skip this task. However, the chaos tunnels have unguarded Bronze Dragons in them which could make them worth doing if so inclined.

Cave crawlers- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Cave horrors- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Crawling hands- Clues- No Charms- Task-48, Gold 7, Green 0, Crimson 0, Blue 0

msgcrawlinghands.png

Crawling hands are fast and easy. Kill em fast. Move on. I prefer range instead of chasing them around the room. I also prefer the crawling hand deeper in the tower to the hands in the first room because it seems like there are more in the middle room than the first.

Dagannoths- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Dust devils- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Elves 30-60- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Fever spiders- Clues- No Charms- No

msgfeverspiders.png

Fever Spiders are an easy task that drop a fair amount of Kwarm. They are located beneath the factory on Braindeath Island. You must wear Slayer Gloves or they will disease you. Melee or range will make quick work of them. Use the cannon space shown for quick slaying but is a bit of overkill.

Fire giants- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Gargoyles- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Harpie Bug Swarms- Clues- Lvl 2 Charms- Task 124 Gold 3, Green 11, Crimson 2, Blue 1

msgharpiebugswarms.png

Harpie Bug Swarms dont offer a good deal of experience, but they are very easy to kill. You need a bug lantern to kill them. They are located South west of brimhaven. Take the boat from Ardougne and walk to their location. Since you need the bug lantern to kill them you cant heal off of them. They dont hit for much damage so a full load of lobsters or salmon would be fine for a higher level. Lower levels can bring noted fish to trade at the general store west of Harpie's location.

Infernal Mages- Clues- No Charms- Task 139, Gold 49, Green 3, Crimson 3, Blue 1

msginfernalmages.png

Infernal Mages are an annoying assignment but I do it for their drop of Black Mystic Hats and Black Mystic Boots. I used to Dharok them which worked very well but you lose money on the task. With the recent addition of Bones to Peaches you are now able to wear Magic defense and heal off of their bones.

Jellies- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 172, Gold 9, Green 48, Crimson 2, Blue 0

msgjelly.png

Jellies are a fun assignment. They drop Mithril Boots and Level 3 clues. There attack is Magic Based so wear Magic Defense Armor. You will probably be fine with a full load of lobsters but you can bring Guthan's if you'd like. Or you can utilize the safe spot for range/mage/hally. As shown in the picture go to the green dot, lure a Jelly to you, the go to spot indicated by the green arrow and finish off the Jelly.

Jungle Horrors- Clues- Lvl 2 Charms- Task 184, Gold 8, Green 26, Crimson 3, Blue 2

msgjunglehorrors.png

Jungle Horrors are North of Mos Le'Harmless. You need to have completed Cabin Fever to reach the island. To get to Mos Le'Harmless go to the eastern side of port phantasmys and get a boat ride from Bill Teach.

They drop Natures, noted teak, and a good amount of pineapple.

They have a melee attack so wear melee protecting gear.

They are scattered in random locations all over the Jungle so to kill them more easily find a location with 2 or 3 of them and let them respawn after you kill them, this beats following them all over the jungle.

They aren't good training because they are spread out so far apart, but they are a mindless task that don't do too much damage and their pineapple drops are good for making super compost.

Kalphites- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Kurasks- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Lesser Demons- Clues- No Charms- Task 142, Gold 12, Green 9, Crimson 2, Blue 0

msglesserdemons.png

Lesser demons are fairly easy. I prefer to Cannon and melee them near Elvrag's Lair in the Karamja Volcano. Use Guthan's to heal, and be on the look out for Lesser Demon Champion Scrolls.

Mutated Zygomites 30-60- Clues- No Charms- No

msgmutatedzygomite.png

Zygomites are a decent task if you enjoy farming. They require fungicide spray when they are at low health. They drop a fair amount of seeds and noted supercompost.

Shadow Warriors- Clues- No Charms- Task 199, Gold 48, Green 4, Crimson 23, Blue 0

msgshadowwarriors-1.png

You can kill these in the basement of the legends guild. A cannon owns them. But they die fast to melee as it is.

Trolls- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Turoth- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

Warped tortoises- See Pollnivneach Assignments.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

Pollnivneach Assignments

Pollnivneach, Lvl 100 Combat, 50 Slayer, After completing Smoking Kills quest. 120-185 (Unless Noted Otherwise)

Aberrant spectres- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Aquanites- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Abyssal demons- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Banshees- Clue- Lvl 1 Charms- Yes Task 130 Gold 8, Green 24, Crimson 3, Blue 0

msgbanshees.png

Banshees are a fast and easy assignment on the first Floor of the slayer tower. They Drop Black Mystic Gloves, Rune Essence, and herb drops. Wearing Earmuffs dispose of them in your desired method. I prefer ranged as it is easier than chasing them around the room.

After Smoking Kills you can cannon Mighty Banshees in the central chamber of the Pollnivneach Slayer Dungeon. They drop green charms and give more XP than the Slayer Tower's Banshees, but the loot doesn't justify the cannonballs. Melee Pray and cannon.

Basilisks- Clues- No Charms- Task 143, Gold 7, Green 28, Crimson 8, Blue 0

msgbasilisk.png

Basilisks are secretly one of the best monsters in the game to train on. They drop White mystic hats, Adamant ore, High Nature, and Water runes. Wear the Mirrored Shield. These monsters don't hit for much but if you need food you can use bones to peaches or utilize the safe spot shown in my photo. That is a bit of overkill though, only the very weak would need to use it. Note if you intend to range these, you need to use a throwing weapon, as you cannot fight these without use of the Mirrored shield.

After Smoking Kills you can cannon Basilisks in the south east chamber of the Pollnivneach Slayer Dungeon. They drop charms but the loot doesn't justify the cannonballs. Melee Pray and cannon.

Black demons- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Blue Dragons- Clues- Level 3 Charms- Task 142 Gold 27, Green 12, Crimson 18, Blue 4

msgbluedragons-1.png

Most people use the Taverly Dungeon but this area is rather crowded. Instead use the cave from the watchtower quest and range/mage/hally the Blue dragons there, using the watchtower teleport when you need to bank your hides and clues.

This monster is also located in Kuradal's dungeon and should be killed there if you are 75 Slayer and 110 Combat.

Bloodvelds- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Cave Crawlers- Clues- No Charms- Task 140, Gold 8, Green 22, Crimson 4, Blue 0

msgcavecrawler.png

Cave crawlers are fun . Just bring a few super ant poisons and quickly slay them collecting herbs or second ingredients that you may need.

After Smoking Kills you can cannon Cave Crawlers in the north east chamber of the Pollnivneach Slayer Dungeon. They drop charms and give more XP than the Slayer Dungeon's Banshees, but the loot doesn't justify the cannonballs. Melee Pray, Anti Poison, and cannon.

Cave Horrors- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 151 Gold 10, Green 9, Crimson 6, Blue 0

msgcavehorrors.png

Cave Horrors are east of Mos Le'Harmless In a cave between Mos Le'Harmless and the trouble brewing mini game. You need to have completed Cabin Fever to reach the island. To get to Mos Le'Harmless go to the eastern side of port phantasmys and get a boat ride from Bill Teach.

Cave Horrors Require the Witchwood icon to kill and a lantern to light the cave. They drop Black Mask, High herb seeds, mahogony logs, noted teak logs, nature runes, limpwurt roots, and other lesser drops.

They have a mage based melee attack like bloodvelds and Jellies so wear mage protecting gear like black ranging hide and elemental shield.

They are scattered in random locations all over the cave so to kill them more easily find a location with 2 or 3 of them and let them respawn after you kill them, this beats following them all over the cave.

They aren't good training because they are spread out so far apart, but they do have very good drops for their slayer level.

Dagannoths- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Dust devils- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Elves 60-90- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 60 Gold 5, Green 2, Crimson 1, Blue 2

msgelves.png

Elves are a pain, but are now easily taken care of without the long walk. Just use the tiny elf crystal to teleport to Lletya and take on the Elves there. You won't need any food here because you can recharge your prayer upstairs.

Fire giants- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Gargoyles- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Greater demons- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Hellhounds- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Iron dragons 30-60- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Kalphites- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Kurasks- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- 120 Kurask- 12 Gold, 26 Green, 6 Crimson, 1 Blue

msgkurask.png

Kurasks drop white Mystic Tops and Leaf Bladed Swords. You need slayer dart/broad arrows/leaf bladed spear/leaf bladed sword to kill them. They are decent Range and Mage experience so do them if you need experience in those areas.

Nechryael- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Red dragons- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 130 17 Gold, 9 Green, 38 Crimson, 18 Blue

msgreddragons-1.png

Red Dragons can be found in the wilderness and in the Brimhaven dungeon. Both have their negatives in the form of revenants or wild dogs. I choose the Brimhaven location. You can melee them or range them using the terrain for cover.

Scabarite minions 30-60- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Spiritual mages- See Shilo Village Assignments.

Spiritual Warriors- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- No

msgspritualwarriors-1.png

Spiritual Warriors were introduced with the God Wars Dungeon in August 2007. They drop a fair amount of Rune items and Level 3 Clue Scrolls. They were initially advised to skip because Jagex initially had them dropping level 2 clues. This has been corrected, and their decent drop rate of High Alcable items makes them a task worth considering.

To get to them, the teleport to Trollheim is easiest. When you go in the God Wars Dungeon go north to the Zamorak portion of the Dungeon. Ensuring you have a piece of Zamorak gear on (Cape or vambs if you intend to use Guthan's to heal) , Melee gear, Guthan's, and black mask, go to the small room shown in picture for a 2 spawn of Warriors. Kill the 2 Spiritual Warriors that spawn there.

Terror dogs 30-60- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 52 3 Gold, 9 Green, 0 Crimson, 0 Blue

msgterrordogs-1.png

Terror Dogs drop Granite Helms. Previously they were skipped becasue of the trek needed through Tarn's Lair. After Smoking Kills you have access to the Slayer's Ring which teleports you to the entrance to their room. The room is multi but you cannot use a cannon. And prayer drains rapidly. If you are high leveled you should have no real issue making the task on 1 load of food, especially if aided by a summoning familiar and or Guthan's.

Trolls- Clues- No Charms- Regular Trolls, No. Special Trolls, yes. Troll General is reported to drop a decent amount of Gold/Green 50% of the time.

msgtrolls.png

Many people dislike these monsters. I used to love killing the Troll General before they changed his respawn rate to slow it down. Since then I found an awesome spot on the death plateau of Burthorpe for you to use a cannon. In the photo you see the cannon. It is actually kind of hard to set it up there, try a few time and you will get it down. Then you can load it up and let it rip. No trolls will be able to hit you so your cannon will act as though you are in a Multi Attack area unloading on all of the trolls in the area. If you position yourself where my character is you will be able to engage Rock and Stick who drop Granite Shields. The other red dot is a safe spot where you can go if a small troll seems to invade your area.

Using this spot which I found on accident makes trolls one of the better experience assignments for you if you have a cannon on your way to 85 Slayer or beyond if you want fast experience.

Turoths- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 113, 19 Gold, 31 Green, 4 Crimson, 2 Blue

msgturoth.png

Turoths drop white Mystic Bottoms and Leaf Bladed Sword. You need slayer dart/broad arrows/leaf bladed spear/Leaf Bladed Sword to kill them.

Use the Safe Spot shown in picture if you must Range/Mage them.

Warped Tortoises- Clues- No Charms- Task 185, Gold 12, Green 9, Crimson 4, Blue 6

msgwarpedtortise-1.png

You need a crystal Chime to kill them. You can reach them using a Spirit tree to get to the Poison Waste Sewers after the quest. Previously these were suggested to Burthorpe. However Jagex updated the Tortoises at the beginning of the dungeon to have a 2 spawn instead of 1. With Tortoise Shells useful for Summoning, and easy banking at the Spirit Tree NW of the Grand Exchange, these are a monster you should consider. I Bring a superset and load of lobsters, easily banking when full of shells.

Shilo Village Assignments

Shilo Village, Lvl 100 Combat, 50 Slayer. 130-200 (Unless Noted Otherwise)

Aberrant Spectres- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 165, Gold 25, Green 12, Crimson 5, Blue 8

msgabberantspectres1.png

Aberrant Specters are not as bad as many people make them out to be. They drop plenty of herbs and herb seeds, Black Mystic Bottoms, and Lava Battlestaffs. I go there with 5 4 dose prayer pots, wear nosepeg, and Prayer boosting gear. I collect herbs dropping Harrlander and below. I bank when I run out of prayer or have a full load of good loot. Prayer is essential but you usually get enough Ranarr per trip to cover the pots used. Feel free to range these if you need to because your ammunition will stack for you to pick up after the kill.

msgabberants2-1.png

After Smoking Kills you will have access to cannonable Aberrant Spectres. Using the Slayer Ring teleport to Pollnivneach go down the well into the Slayer Dungeon. Once in go north then West. Then take the stairs and go north. Set up your cannon and fire, stopping only to reload your cannon and pick up drops. Prayer is a necessity and Slayer Helmet recommended.

Oddly enough you can cannon them using just the nosepeg. Without a facemask you will take damage down to 1 HP from the smoke but you won't die. So if you have your Mage Prayer on while avoiding a swarm or angry dwarf, you can complete the task. Risky but an option for those who have yet to obtain their slayer helmet.

Abyssal Demons- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 149, Gold 12, Green 11, Crimson 43, Blue 0

msgabyssaldemon1.png

Abyssal Demons. The one monster everyone hopes to kill. upon reaching 85 slayer you will be surprised to see how easy these monsters are to kill. Unlike the monsters before it, its max damage is 8 and doesn't seem to hit you all that often. They drop the highly sought Abyssal Whip. You should also consider bringing High Alc runes keep your inventory free of the many rune items that are dropped here.

You have many options to kill them, the most frequent being Melee with Guthan's to heal yourself. Others are using Full Dharok's, Melee in full Prayer outfit with prayer pots. Maging with slayer dart and prayer pots. Or ranging with the Crystal bow and healing with Guthan's (You need crystal bow because your arrows would be scattered all over as the Abyssal demon teleports around the room.

For many people their Slayer journey ends here. Sure it is a great accomplishment but in my opinion if you stop there you will behind the pace if jagex ever rewards higher slayers with a new high level monster. Also if you are going to train why not do it on assignment? It's the lazy people who live at the rock crabs and bandits. Sure they get the combat levels but they do it without reward and gain nothing more.

This monster is also located in Kuradal's dungeon and should be killed there if you are 75 Slayer and 110 Combat.

Aquanites- Clues Lvl 3 Charms- Task 199, Gold 6, Green, 11, Crimson 8, Blue 14

msgaquanites.png

Aquanites were introduced Jul 28th 2009. They drop the Amulet of Ranging. They attack with mage . They also have a special ability to turn off mage prayer occasionally. The are weak to stab attacks.

To kill them you will need to wear Kari'ls or Dragonhide Armor. Zamorkian Spear set to stab is ideal or you can use Leaf Bladed Sword and Rune Defender.

For healing you can use a Bunyips Swallow Whole scroll and food. However this is dependent on raw fish drops and is a bit unnerving. Better is a Unicorn Stallion with its Healing Aura scroll. Also bringing along the Enhanced Excalibur will help fill the void if you run low on food or familiar special.

With the value of the special drop falling and no other remarkable drops some have decided to pass on them. They are still easily handled if you have the summoning level required for the Unicorn Stallion.

Black Demons- Clues- No Charms- Task 188, Gold 4, Green 3, Crimson 11, Blue 0

msgblackdemons1.png

Black Demons are skipped by many people. That is a big mistake. They do not drop very much in the way of items but they provide very fast experience with a cannon, some fun targets to kill with Dharok's, or some care free range/mage/hally experience.

To cannon them go to the Taverly Dungeon, place the cannon in the position shown, load up and let it rip. If you wear Guthan's and a load of shark you can melee them using the cannon for support. I prefer to hide as shown and let my cannon do all the work reloading it every 30 seconds.

Black Dragons 60-90- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 62 Gold 18, Green 21, crimson 9, Blue 12.

msgblackdragons.png

I enjoy Black dragons. Mage or range is preferred in the location shown. Additionally you could kill the Baby Black Dragons in the Chaos Tunnels, or the one in the Evil Chickens Lair (Requires a raw chicken, rope, Anti-dragonfire Shield, and completion of Recipe For Disaster to access through the lost city Evil Chicken Shrine.) Regular Black Dragons are also located in the Evil Chicken's Lair, and aren't typically as crowded as the location shown. The King Black Dragon, Which counts for Black Dragon Tasks, drops all Charms, 4 at a time.

Bloodvelds- Clues- No Charms- Task 123, Gold 10, Green 40, Crimson 5, Blue 2

msgbloodvelds.png

Bloodvelds are awesome raw experience. I would never consider skipping them. They drop black boots and a fair amount of blood runes. Their attack is mage based so wear high magic defense gear if you decide to melee. I used to bring Guthan's with to heal, but with bones to peaches you may now use that instead.

Bloodvelds really shine for mage and range. Lure them to the spots shown and quickly slay them. Mithril arrows or above are recommended by me.

msgmbldvelds-1.png

After completing Legacy of Seergaze you will have access to the Mutated Bloodvelds and a room of regular Bloodvelds. These Bloodvelds can be cannoned for amazing experience. To access them use the abyss and take the blood altar. Go south and then east to find the Mutated Bloodvelds. Continue going east to find the regular Bloodvelds. Mutated Bloodvelds have better drops and have proven to drop Dragon Medium helms frequently and offer a great deal of XP. They do use up a great deal of cannon balls and take longer than the regular Bloodvelds. If cannoning its better to Melee pray on them as it is multi and it makes the task too hectic otherwise.

Dagannoths- Clues- Lvl 2 Charms- Task 154, Gold 3, Green 2, Crimson 5, Blue 1

msgdagannoth.png

Dagannoths are the best Slayer experience in the game if you use a cannon. Dagannoths drop trash mostly but be on the lookout for Snapdragon seeds and half keys. Set up your Cannon and let it rip, much to the complaint of the other trainers down there. It is wise to just wear full Guthan's and let your cannon do the work as you can sometimes take a lot of damage quickly down there. If you get this assignment often on your way to 85 Slayer consider yourself very lucky. After 85 they are still fun to slay with a cannon if you can afford it.

If you choose not to cannon they can still be a great task. The Chaos Tunnel Dagannoths drop good charms, hides, and helms which can be sold at a profit. To do them you have to Range pray then entire task, picking up drops as noticed. If they ecome non aggressive, go through a portal and come back to reset them. This is slower than the cannon method but effortless and profitable.

Dark Beasts- Clues- No Charms- Task 200 Gold 13, Green 3, Crimson 30, Blue 32

msgdarkbeasts2-1.png

Dark Beasts are the highest Slayer monster in the game. They drop the Death Talism which is useful in Mournings End part 2, and now the Dark Bow. They DO NOT drop a high amount of dragon items as is popular rumor.

To access them you need to have a mourners outfit with your weapon, shield, and amulet taken off to access the Mourners hideout in West Ardougne. Go downstairs and search the desk in the head mourner's room and take the New Key. Use this to unlock the door to the light path. Go NW and you will run into the Dark Beasts. Or you can Access their new area North of the entrance which also allows you the shown cannon spot. However the NW spot has the Rune Rock for you to mine while camping or on Assignment.

The Dark Beasts hit very hard. Ideally your best bet is just to use Protect from melee and prayer pots.

Otherwise you can swap over to melee armor an eat sharks. If you run out of food tele out instead of trying to heal with Guthan's as they can hit very hard very quickly and their high defense means you will not be able to depend on healing.

You cannot range or Halberd them from a safespot because if you are out of their melee range they switch to a magic attack that hits you wherever you are.

Since you are likely going to pray either way, its much easier to Melee them.

msgdarkbeasts3.jpg

The Smoking Kills Update altered the assignment size from 20 to 130-200 of dark beasts so if you want to accomplish the task in 1 load you may consider using a Camper's trick for maximum Prayer Potions at the Dark Beasts.

Before you start. Consider killing Mourners in the basement of the Mourners hideout and stocking up on Mourners Gear, which you can drop. You can get 4 sets per trip. Just don't ever drop your last set, or you'll need to get it back the hard way from the quest.

With that accomplished, you'll need to:

Drop 3 pray potions outside of mourners hideout.

Un-equip Weapon, Amulet, and shield.

Go through door, drop 3 prayer potions.

Go out side, pick up 3 prayer potions.

Enter. Re-quip Weapon, Amulet, and shield. Pick up 3 Prayer Potions. Move to stairs.

Drop 3 Prayer Potions, Repeat process with ladder.

Drop Mourners Gear. Get New Key from Desk. Unlock door. Drop Key.

This method seems complicated but after a couple tasks you'll have it down and will extend your stay long enough to finish your task in one shot.

After doing the Within the Light quest Eluned will add the option to your tiny elf crystal which will teleport you directly to the light temple path eliminating the need for Mourners Gear.

Once you are able to access Kuradals Dungeon they are located there however if you are 85 mining you might still consider coming here to get the rune ore spawns on task.

Dust Devils- Clues- No Charms- Task 176, Gold 24, Green 12, Crimson 39, Blue 1

msgdustdevil.png

Dustdevils are one of the best monsters to train on in the entire game. They drop the Dragon Chain, Soul Runes, Rune Arrows, and high alcable items. You must wear a facemask to engage these enemies.

Use Bones to Peaches and you could theoretically stay down there forever. But if you must bank for the herbs you are receiving, take the carpet from Pollnivneach to Nardah and then return.

For speed melee a cannon owns these guys. Or for range/mage/hally use the safe spot shown.

Many people have started using the Chaos Tunnels for this task.

Fire Giants- Clues- No Charms- Task 110, Gold 75, Green 5, Crimson 10, Blue 2

msgfiregiants.png

Fire Giants are a lot of fun and drop awesome loot for their level. Rune weapons, armor, arrows, and dragon items are found here more often than anywhere else. Most people train in the waterfall but that place is packed with new players and inconsiderates who will aggravate you. I myself prefer the Brimhaven dungeon before you go into the metal dragon area. You can melee and heal with Guthan's. I myself set up a cannon to power through the assignment burying their bones.

Many people have started using the Chaos Tunnels for this task.

Gargoyles- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 188, Gold 22, Green 10, Crimson 13, Blue 14

msggargoyles1.png

Getting 75 slayer is exciting when you first get it but you will soon realize Gargoyles aren't a very fast or profitable assignment. They drop Granite Mauls, Black Mystic Tops, and Adamant Boots. You need a rock hammer to kill them when they are at or below 10 HP.

Even so the safe spot provided makes for a fast and safe assignment. After you kill it another will respawn right above that safe spot. This make it the ideal spot to mage/range/hally.

They are also fun to Dharok, but the drops won't replace the Prayer Pots Used.

Melee and Guthan's will also work.

The bad thing you need be cautioned about is that Gargoyles are overly aggressive and will hit high on you no matter what your level is. They are also a very dangerous assignment if your connection to the Internet isn't very reliable. Many people have lagged and died there losing their Dragon Chains or Guthan's parts because they lagged and were killed. Unfortunately if you lag out your character remains in game and is killed because the gargoyle keeps attacking you after it is out of life and because you are not logged on to deliver the final blow with the rock hammer. Beware!

In 2009 Jagex added the option for you to right click and select smash on the Gargoyle when it is at or below 10 HP providing you have a rock hammer in your inventory. This makes them a little less annoying as a task.

With the Addition of the Chaos Tunnels many people do their tasks there. Gargoyles have a notable Blue Charm drop rate.

This monster is also located in Kuradal's dungeon and should be killed there if you are 75 Slayer and 110 Combat.

Goraks 25-50- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- No

msggoraks.png

Goraks are a quest monster assigned after doing Fairy Tale 2. They drop Goraks claw, Many gems (many more than other monsters), Big Bones, and Level 3 Clues. Protection prayers don't work and they hit hard, as well as draining stats slowly. They are worth doing if you have decent defense for their clues and half key drops, but you can use alot of food on them. Guthans isn't as reliable as it is on other monsters becasue of their high hits.

At higher combat I personally bring about 10 lobsters and a bunyip, load up on gems and big bones and quickly bank in the lost city as needed. I usually finish the task on one or two trips.

Greater Demons- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 187, Gold 13, Green 4, Crimson 40, Blue 1

msggreaterdemons2-1.png

msggreaterdemons2.png

Greater Demons are pretty easy and are decent experience. You can find them in the dungeon from the watchtower quest where you can mage/range/hally them. Note: you will not be able to retrieve your arrows.

I personally prefer to fight them in the Brimhaven Dungeon healing with Guthan's. The Wild Dogs will stop attacking after a short while and you will easily be able to slay the Demons.

Dharok's makes this task a great deal faster.

This monster is also located in Kuradal's dungeon and should be killed there if you are 75 Slayer and 110 Combat.

Hellhounds- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 140, Gold 82, Green 0, Crimson 6, Blue 5

msghellhounds.png

Hellhounds are decent experience and a great source of Level 3 clues. They have a safe spots along the rocks, but I prefer to set up a cannon and melee them healing myself with Guthan's or bones to peaches.

This monster is also located in Kuradal's dungeon and should be killed there if you are 75 Slayer and 110 Combat.

Iron dragons 60-90- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 57, Gold 22, Green 42, Crimson 14, Blue 2

msgirondragons-1.png

msgirondragons2.png

Iron Dragons are found in the Brimhaven Dungeon, Northwestern Wilderness after starting Temple At Senntisten (their area is not in the wilderness however), and in Kuradal's Dungeon. They Drop Dragonic Visage, Dragon Legs, and Dragon Skirts.

It is highly advised that you do them in the northwestern wilderness or in Kuradal's Dungeon. This is because you can easily bank their drops and return quickly. Once you are able to access Kuradal's dungeon you also have the benefit of the ferocious ring adding to your damage.

I previously suggested Proselyte armor, AntidragonFire Shield, Whip. Slayer Helmet, Super potions, and antifires. I had you melee pray and use antifire potions to avoid all damage.

Now if you have access to Super Antifires you are able to use a Godsword Or Zamorkian Spear on them on the stab setting.

Since you can easily teleport back to their locations you can choose to eat food against them rather than use your prayer potions. You can also bank all bones.

Kalphites- Clues- No Charms- Task 181, Gold 27, Green 12, Crimson 5, Blue 10

msgkalphites.png

Kalphites are one of the best assignments on your way to 85 Slayer. You get them fairly often and if you know how to kill them they are second only to Daganoths as the best Slayer experience in the game. Obviously you will need a Cannon for them then take 3 super anti poisons, melee/mage/range gear, and full Guthan's and go to the area that has the Level 85 Kalphite Soldiers. This area is Multi so set up your cannon and let it rip. Take care to pick up and re set your cannon every few minutes so your cannon doesn't decay, and take a dose of anti poison when needed. While your here take advantage to load up with Potato Cacti for your herblore.

Mithril Dragons 4-8- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 4, Gold 4, Green 8, Crimson 0, Blue 4

msgmithrildragons-1.png

Mithril dragons are intimidating but they have a maximum task of 8 per the knowledge base (Most I've had is 5) making them a fun task to take on and have a chance at a Dragon Full Helm. I wear Slayer Helmet, Black Dragon Hides, and Anti-dragonfire Shield. I bring an antifire potion, 4 prayer potions, 1 click teleport, and the rest sharks. After using a games necklace to teleport to Barbarian Outpost, go south west and jump into the whirlpool. Go down the stairs and then go south east to the staircase. Go up and kill the dragon that is by the enterence. After taking a sip of antifire turn on protect from melee and piety. Eat as needed and collect the loot and charms.

Nechryals- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 119, Gold 15, Green 6, Crimson 54, Blue 1

msgnechryael.png

Nechryals are a mixed bag. They are slow and annoying melee experience. They drop Rune Boots and Herb Seeds. The demons they spawn have a magic attack so you are unable to safely Dharok them.

To melee you just need to be careful and switch to Guthan's when you are at half life. For this reason most people advise you skip them.

If you are a range/mage/hally there is a safe spot in the picture. The Nechryal spawns right below it and if you are on a full world he will respawn almost as soon as you retrieve your arrows.

With high range and addy arrows I have no problem using this spot and I have noticed that rune boots are an easier drop to get than whips, dragon, and granite. I had one assignment where I got 9 Pair of boots.

Yes the money isn't life changing but this monster is more profitable and less dangerous than their neighbor the Gargoyles. Skip if you can't be bothered to melee, accept if you are range/mage/hally.

With the addition of the Chaos Tunnels many slayers have taken to using Red Chinchompas on them in in Multi Combat. It has become faster and preferred for high level and speed slaying, but the drops generally don't make up for the gp spent.

Scabarite minions- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- No *

msgscabarites-1.png

Scabarites drop Clues and are a decent cannonable task. There are many different monsters you can kill for this task, but the best are also the easiest to reach. The fastest way to reach them is use your Pharohs Scepter to teleport to Jaleustrophos, the Agility Pyramid and use the shortcut unlocked during the quest (you need to use a rope on the rock west of the researchers at the campfire during quest. You'll be be able to access this shortcut permanently thereafter.). Go Southwest and stop at the Multicombat Scabaras Statue (conversely if you don't have a Scepter go East of Sophanem then Northeast through the Swamp to reach this location. Once there you will be attacked by the Mounted and walking Scarabas Rangers. With Guthans equipped and an inventory of food take on the monsters. When the monsters become unaggressive you can put on your Water Tiara (Quest Reward, or you can use waterskins) and fight the monsters at your leisure. Additionally you can cannon these monsters but you will also be killing the Scabaras Locusts (which don't give slayer XP but are great for healing off of.).

* This spot is the easiest in my opinion. However, under the Sophanem bank, in the southwest corner, is a lair of scabaras that drop many Crimson Charms and are cannonable. The risk of death is great and is advised only for advanced slayers who are after fast xp and challenge.

Skeletal Wyverns 40-90- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 47 Gold 14, Green 0, Crimson 46, Blue 0

msgwyverns-1.png

The Skeletal Wyverns are challenging but the low number on the task and Slayer's desire to hold on to their task streak has made them worthy of a second look. They are located south of Port Sarim in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. You need a Elemental Shield or Dragonfire (NOT ANTI-DRAGON) Shield to slay them. Melee with piety while eating Sharks will net you 25 to 45 Wyverns per trip allowing you to finish a task in two trips. You can utilize a Beast of Burden for loot or a healing familiar to heal. Others choose to melee pray and wear prayer gear. Its a matter of preference and stats, but they are slayable.

Spiritual Mages- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- No

msgspiritualmage-1.png

Spiritual Mages were introduced with the God Wars Dungeon in August 2007. They drop Dragon Boots and Level 3 Clue Scrolls. They are the only monster that drop Dragon boots (Rangers and Warriors do not).

To get to them, the teleport to Trollheim is easiest. When you go in the God Wars Dungeon go north to the Zamorak portion of the Dungeon. Ensuring you have a piece of zamorak gear on, pray gear, and black mask, go to the small room shown in picture fr a 2 spawn of mages. Mage pray, and kill the Spirtual Mages that spawn in the northern room and just south of there.

Steel Dragons 60-90- Clues Level 3 Charms

msgsteeldragons.png

Steel Dragons are found in the Brimhaven Dungeon, Northwestern Wilderness after starting Temple At Senntisten (their area is not in the wilderness however), and in Kuradal's Dungeon.

Suqahs 60-90- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 77, Gold 3, Green 2, Crimson 2, Blue 1

msgsuqahs.png

When doing the Lunar Diplomacy quest you will encounter the Suqahs which are on the island. To get to them use your lyre to fremminik, get a seal of passage from Brundt the Chieftan, take a boat ride from Lokar Searunner, then get a ride from Captain Bentley. The northern Suqahs can cast ancient magics on you but you can cannon them if you put on protect from magic and eat to heal from their melee damage. Otherwise head south and kill the 2 by the foot bridge using the chain to block them if Ranging, Maging, or Hallying.

Warped Terrorbirds- Clues- No Charms- No

You need a crystal Chime to kill them. You can reach them using a Spirit tree to get to the Poison Waste Sewers after the quest. They have a terribly accurate range attack so you need to have range pray on at all times. Other than a Rune Pickaxe they drop nothing useful and the need to use the crystal chime on them make them a good candidate to Burthorpe/Skip.

Waterfiends- Clues- Lvl 3 Charms- Task 191, Gold 1, Green 0, Crimson 174, Blue 2

msgwaterfiends-1.png

Waterfiends were introduced with the Barbarian Training update and are located in the ancient cavern. They initially dropped nothing useful but with the addition of Summoning they became one of the best sources of Crimson charms. They have a magic and ranged attack and you will have to have ranged pray equipped the entire time you are fighting them. Bring an Antifire Shield to spare damage from the Brutal Dragon. Wear Black Mask, Karil's, or dragonhide, and use a good crush weapon (Torags hammers, Zamorak Spear, or the ultimate; Saradomin Godsword) To find them teleport to the Barbarian outpost and enter the Ancient Cavern by jumping off the bridge into the whirlpool. Go down the stairs and west past the Brutal Green Dragons to the Waterfiends. With Range prayer on kill them. When you need to heal eat food or use Guthan's to heal off of skeletons.

In december 2009 a fairy ring was added to the ancient caverns right next to the waterfiends, This ring is BJQ. You need 5 bitercape mushrooms and a spade to repair te ring and fix it. This makes it possible for you to bank midtask by Glory teleporting to Edgeville and returning through its fairy ring.

msglivingrock.png

Living Rock Creatures are located in the living rock caverns in the Dwarven mines underneath Falador. They drop Living Minerals. Runes, ores, and gems in noted form along with charms. There are 3 Types: Protector (Melee), Striker (Ranged), And Patriarch (melee)( Patriarchs are random and rare. They drop around 250k worht of ores, gems and runes upon their death). They are high hitpoints but low damage. Most people get by a full task on a full load of food and 2 Bunyips (You can renew your summoning points by going to the entrance and up the rope at the obelisk on the right).

Some slayers dislike this task as it takes a long time if you are just there for slayer. However if you have the mining or fishing levels required for the Caverns you can choose to mine, then kill Living rock creatures when you rock or fishing area is out. Or you can do your assignments on world 2 and be a hero to all the people training their mining.

TzHaar Volcanic creatures Are a good source of Tokkul and Obsidian Charms. And occasional Obsidian weapon. You can get to them by teleporting to Karamja then going 2 levels into the volcano. I personally like to melee the TzHaar-Ket and bank when I need food, If you attack the Level 74 TzHaar-Hur all the monsters around it will come to assist them by attacking you.

If you get a TzHaar Volcanic Creatures task Kuradal will give you the option of upgrading the task to 280 to take on the fight caves and kill TzTok-Jad. This means you can get a fire cape on task. If you choose to do this only monsters in the fight caves will count towards your task. If you defeat TzTok-Jad you will receive a bonus of 25000 Slayer Xp. You will need a dedicated TzTok-Jad guide if you attempt this, as killing him is another guide altogether.

Monsters to Block

After Smoking Kills you are can use your points to block up to 4 tasks (100 points to permanently block a task) or cancel a task (30 points each use). Which monster to block depends on preferences, Slayer Level, and which master you use.

All Slayer's should aspire to use Kuradal. Using her makes it so some of the monsters you dislike are no longer assigned by her.

With 4 tasks blocked you get a great deal more Abyssal and Dark beast tasks, which make your slaying more efficient and profitable.

In the past I blocked Iron Dragons, Steel Dragons, Warped Terrobirds, and Aquanites.

With the Kuradal update I've chosen not to skip anything she assigns. If anything you should skip assignments outside of Kuradal's dungeon which you dislike.

Getting To Know Axe Man Jack

I thank you for reading through this guide. I hope it helps or inspires you train Slayer which has become my favorite skill. I wrote it because I am asked many times by many people how to kill certain monsters or to share my secrets. I have done that here to the best of my abilities.

I have had several characters before settling onto Axe Man Jack as my main.

My name isn't Jack. Its Allan. I wanted to make my name The Axe Man but it was taken. Locally we have a surplus store called Axe Man Surplus that my dad calls Axe Man Jack. Made sense to me at the time when I intended this character to be a woodcutting pure.

All my offensive combat levels were gained through training Slayer. I don't particularly like wasting experience so when I maxed out Attack, Strength, and Defense, I moved on to Range and then Mage. Many of the high levels get lazy and just use melee to kill things. I agree switching to other skills slow you down, but improving them will make you a better player in the long run.

I believe 99 Slayer is the Ultimate achievement, yet still aspire to make enough Gold in game to someday get 99 Prayer and achieve perfection in combat.

I served 9 years in the United States Marines.

Conclusion

All you aspiring slayers now have the knowledge to succeed in this skill. It is a long and hard journey but the rewards are well worth it and you will have the ultimate feeling of accomplishment when you reach its highest level.

I will continue to update and tweak this guide as the skill expands. I invite anyone who thinks they can contribute some fresh thinking to my posted techniques to do so in a respectful manner and I will investigate and add it to this guide if warranted.

Personally I block. Steel Dragons, Iron Dragons, Black demons, and Warped Terrorbirds.

Dude warped terrorbirds are awesome. Have you been living under a rock or something?

Please don't start this argument. It is a matter of personal opinion to why someone blocks what they block. Considering he is the owner of TSG, I am absolutely sure that he knows the experience rate of warped terrorbirds is really good. But a lot of people block them because of the chimes being so annoying for them, and they can't stand it. And I'm sure he is aware of the drops.

The same could be said for black demons. Black demons is pretty fast experience, but its a very very long task. They drop good charms, but some people just can't stand how long they take, and they don't get much reward except charms and a few rune items.

Everyone has their reasons, and I always see people arguing about blocking assignments to get someone to change their decision, usually to no avail. So yeah, lets not go there. It will just turn the thread into a massive argument.

Started free trade with 1.5m cash. 2 weeks later, have hit max cash 2x.

Personally I block. Steel Dragons, Iron Dragons, Black demons, and Warped Terrorbirds.

Dude warped terrorbirds are awesome. Have you been living under a rock or something?

I choose to block them.

There is a great guide for them on TSG from someone who thinks like you. I personally dislike them, see them as a nuisance, and see the ability for people to die attempting them.

Constant prayer, annoyance to canon, and need to crystal chime them? I pass. On the other hand I think Warped tortoises are aok!

Check out TSG guides if you are interested in different points of view.

Not many cannon there, they do the suggested Kalphite Soldiers.

If you don't intend t do them as a good task(blue charms, good and fast range/slay xp) you should consider skipping r blocking them.

Better late than never....

If you can afford it and find an available busy world (for fast respawns), then go ahead. Otherwise I find that I can kill them just as fast with just melee, I just bring a few Super Energy Potions so I can chase the little bugs down. A lot cheaper, but cannon is better if you're lazy and have a bank that can handle it. ::' Most of the time the fast respawn worlds are busy anyway, so melee is fastest.

You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?

I suspect that someone has probably already mentioned this, but completing smoking kills is not required to obtain the leaf-sword as a drop from kurasks(never had one from turoths so can't be certain for those).

From personal experience, I have had roughly 5 swords from kurask tasks, although none from turoths and had only done the quest up to the point where you get the Banshee Voice drop from the mighty banshee. I had not killed the kurask boss at this point obviously either, due to not being able to get in to it.

Sadly do not have images to post to prove this, but still thought it would be worthwhile to post.

A quick edit could be that on the wait to the Zanaris slayer master, they did not remove that mine. I was crushed when I thought so but I found out that they moved it closer to the draynor bank, by where the ghostspeak amulet priest is. (Just south of his house)
