October 25, 200817 yr When I play runescape I mostly train slayer, and obviously you can get assigned some monsters that get busy, espeacially on Saturdays and Fridays. Examples would be monsters such as hellhounds, fire giants and a personal 'busy' favourite of mine greater demons. The latter is a really good example as there is only one good place to kill greater demons (for slayers anyway), and thats in brimhaven dungeon. Now, the point I'm trying to make here, is the fact that nowadays people just don't have the manners or the effort to world hop. If I go to the greater demons spot and someones there, I immediatly world hop, because I know for a fact that if I stay there, both mine and the other persons experience will lessen and time will be wasted. So when I hop, and I'll eventually find find an empty world; there always seems to be someone that comes and spoils my joy of finding an empty world, and although some people do have the courtesy to hop, these days most people will choose to stay there. Now is it just me or did people used to have better manners when it came to world hopping? October 25, 200817 yr I'd say that with frequently busy spots, people tend to just assume that there will be no worlds where they're empty, so they settle for a world with only 1 or 2 others :? Owner of quest cape since December of 2006
October 25, 200817 yr Recently theres been a huge surge in slayer, in the past most spots rarely had people at them so hopping wasn't much of a problem. Nowdays its bad though, with usually 2-3 people per type of task pe world, it can get rather busy. Personally i hop 6 times, to find an empty world, if none of them are empty i then go to the world with the least people from the ones i just looked at. Want to be my friend? October 25, 200817 yr I'd much rather make the other person hop than hop myself. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie.
October 25, 200817 yr If i come upon a populated spot i won't hop only if there is enough monsters to keep us all reasonably busy (like only a few seconds between kill and next target constantly). Otherwise i usualy world hop till i find an empty or somewhat empty world.
October 25, 200817 yr I'd much rather make the other person hop than hop myself. Everyone thinks that, and that is the problem. I'll hop if I come to a spot that's already got a few people there, unless they start telling me to leave before I have a chance to click log out, then I stay and pester them. If there are the maximum people at that spot (so each person gets a few Greaters for example) then any other people coming should save everyone some time and grief, and just hop.
October 25, 200817 yr This is why I love quick chat worlds. The newer qc worlds are emptier. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]

October 25, 200817 yr Well if i anter a world that has someone already fighting the greaters i ask them if the mind that i come and fight to if they do then i leave if not i'ill stay. But when i am fighting and someone comes i first ask them if they would want to hop if they dont then fine if they do then im happy xD
October 25, 200817 yr I too used to be a huge slayer fan when I was a member. But world hopping is often tough. High demand places with few monsters like Blue dragons at heroes are constantly taken by someone. Finding an empty world is rare. Few people want to waste 5 minutes trying to find an empty world to show courtesy to another player they've never met before. Thats where the competition comes in. You're killing peacefully and a guy 20 levels above you logs in and takes every monster. Well, it was bound to happen sometime. Maybe that player was hopping for a while and couldn't find an empty world so in the end decided to steal one. You shouldn't expect everyone to log in to see you and immediatly hop. You don't know the back story, you only see that it's inconvenient to you. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. October 25, 200817 yr The title is a misconception, there is no common courtesy. Oh wait there's a main post. If you're going to complain about someone hopping, hop first, even if you were there first. If not, keep it to yourself.

Hell, i'll bring a cannon to kalphites for that reason alone. I'll even attack their monsters in a multi zone. Make them leave and it's a lot less work for me. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. I was going to type 100% of this, every paragraph. Awesome mentality spoofer. :) -Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now.
October 25, 200817 yr Lol, I am fighting Greaters as I read your post. Anyways, when it comes to fighting in a crowded spot, I world hop until I find a spot that is empty. With Greaters, I find that there are only two main spots (north and south) and I want to find a spot that is not currently occupied. Once I find this spot, I stay here and people come and go. I don't mind sharing a spot, but some people are really tenacious about keeping it their own. As I speak, I am currently sharing a spot with another player in the northern part of the Brimhaven Greaters. He doesn't bother me, I don't bother him; everything works out fine. :D 99 WC - 12/20/08! =D99 Defence - 6/19/09! 44,012 to reach it! Aiming for 2000 Total Lvl!
October 25, 200817 yr What about this: instead of going to the common "conversative" places go to new places: runescape is bigger than 1 dungeon! I for one slay greaters in the wilderness: only other people I ever find there are clue hunters.. (though I admit: it can be very annoying hearing "woooot I got a bat mask" when you're waiting for your first rune full helm drop).. Basically the whole wilderness is deserted! - At no risk at all (don't tell me you count revenants as a risk) First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me.

That is all there is to it. Problem solved. I seldom hop, because people always tell me to hop in a rude way. When they do that, I just stay to bother them. Filesharer.org - Upload your mugshot to support The Pirate Bay!
October 25, 200817 yr You are definitely right about courtesy, people are just too lazy. They are already in one World, and they can't be bothered going to another, even though that they will get more Experience themselves too, then competing with someone else. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
October 25, 200817 yr Well you can always try deutch or pvp worlds. But courtesy is nonexistant in RS, don't even hope for it. 2480+ total
October 25, 200817 yr I don't ask people to hop, i don't own "the spot" Usually i just hop myself if i feel the area is getting too crowded. What does annoy me though is when you get some lazy level 130s just saying "hop world noob" I'll tell them it's my spot just as much as it is theirs, and then just usually turn public chat off because i know i'm just gonna get flamed after that. Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
October 25, 200817 yr I'd much rather make the other person hop than hop myself. I hate people like this. If I happen to log onto a world with someone (Or a group of people) already there, I'll world hop. It's a waste of time trying to fight over NPC's. You only end up annoying the other person(s) and cutting down the rate at which you gain experience.
October 25, 200817 yr I only hop if the player is higher level then me. And isn't completely being a skhfksud about it.
October 25, 200817 yr Personally, I will battle for my spot. I don't care if I'm getting less experience, it's FUN. Most of my Slayer tasks take place in multi, so if someone comes and tries to push me out, no matter what level they are, I'll fight back. I turn on piety and go full force, attacking their monsters and doing whatever I can to make sure that they know it is MY spot. I only draw the line if a 135+ with good gear comes along. Then I know I can't win, even with piety. For me, competition is the most fun you can have in Runescape. That's also why I love mining. I honestly wish that people would try and crash my slayer spots more often. If you're on task, and you see me, by all means, stick around. ;) To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
October 25, 200817 yr Even though I am F2P, we do encounter problems like that in places like craft guild for gold ores. Most of people I see tend to hop away the moment they see someone is there. But to be really honest, there only are so many worlds around for everybody, its hard to find a server thats completely void of people (except when people are sleeping) For the most part, I usually there first and then people hop in to the world, and upon seeing someone there they left. However, I do have occasions where people just asked me nicely to "change" world. Though I am glad they are polite, but I usually stick around, I won't ask anyone to leave, I will just stay around and do my own things until I am finished. (I usually make that clear so they either move on, or stick around) Unless they want to share the ores, and we both got equal number of rocks. This happen at ice giants place near port sarim alot, but for the most time, people would just compete for giants anyways unless they are either out of food, or lose interest and hop worlds again. PS: I thought this is regarding to turning your chat off while you are hopping worlds, its kind of annoying if you keep on popping in and out that spammed up their private friend chat display. a happy Runescaper
