Anchor=GS for lower levels?

Aeon_

Recommended Posts

Today I completed The Great Brain Robbery (219qp ftw \' ) and fixed the barrelchest anchor.

Later, I went to the duel arena to duel littleboy, and found that even with quite low strength (level 65) I was hitting 26's.

Anyway, I was thinking, if people can complete the quest before they can buy/wield a Godsword might it be a good replacement?

Discuss. :)

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

Hmmm, I think I'm going to buy mine back now...

isn't an anchor really slow? :|

As slow as a battleaxe, which is the same speed of a Godsword.

I guess i could be a replacement but I'd sorta expect that most people who have completed GBR have probably completed MM for a D scimmy or even be able to afford a whip or something. Both of which are better imo because of speed.

Cant really speak for duelling though, maybe it would be useful.

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

to reply at the real question... i do think anchor is a good replacement 4 pll between 60 and 70 att. allthou its quite slow it hits good and isnt realy that slow, but personly i never used it at those lvls (only did the quest when i allready could wear whip) but when i used it, the hits where nice even 4 my str.

of course u have 2 like slower weapons otherwise scim would still be better

It could be a decent replacement for very low levels. But once they start going over level 90, an anchor won't get you very far if in a fight with someone wielding a Gs.

The stats, aren't too horrible, either. I've not got an anchor (Level 100, owned all the GodSwords) but for very low leveled it could be a decent weapon. If I were a lower level, and having to chose between a whip & an anchor, I would certainly go for a whip. (Could hit twice with it while an anchor can only hit once which is a rather decent advantage.

I believe you are correct, but there's a few con's in addition to pro's of using it.

Pros:

1) It does hit very high for lower levels who can wield it.

2) It has a MUCH better special attack than a Whip/Scimmy

- Anchor Special attack: (50% Special Bar)

When using this attack, it doubles the odds of hitting the target. If successful, your enemy's Defence, Ranged, Attack or Magic level will lower by 10% of the damage done.

3) Higher hit KO potential than a whip as it can hit harder catching players off guard.

4) Its 2 handed, so you do not have to worry about losing a shield item slot on death.

5) It can use different combat styles, including crush, which is more effective on plate armor.

Cons:

1) Slower than a whip/scim and thus has a higher chance to do less damage per time frame of a battle. If you don't get "high" hits on it enough to make your opponent eat, your [cabbaged].

2) It is a non-tradeable item, and thus will not provide any loot for your opponent if he/she kills you. Some players may not fight you because of this.

3) Its heavy, so any running will be a little more drain on your run energy.

4) Its 2 handed, so you cannot use any accuracy boosting/def boosting shield slot items, such as a defender or Shield.

Other than those, I know personal its a good weapon, even at higher levels, but not for training. Its a pvp specific weapon, as its to slow to train with.

I believe you drop 230k instead.

One problem with the anchor... Its animation is very slow.

Normally, with a godsword you can use it for a KO, switching from a faster weapon. That is because it hits just as fast as a whip for the first hit. However, with an anchor, its animation is alot slower than a godsword. That means if you switch from a whip to a GS, it is faster than a whip to an anchor.

I think most people disagree with this because the GS is still pretty new and being overrated. On the other hand, the anchor died out a long time ago because it came out a long time ago.

I'm sure when cost and other factors are taken into consideration, the anchor may in fact be better for pvp (but not too great for monster hunting since it probably hits less overall).

Wouldn't an obby maul be better? It hits as hard as a godsword.

No, it doesn't... It also slower, less accurate, and requires a berserker necklace, which you pretty much need the onyx and the crafting level or assist to get it, because no one would sell their onyx necklace for 250k.

I am level 107 and I love using my anchor. I was 3 iteming when pvp first came out (dont flame please) all the one itemers would try to kill me and then i hit 30 with no boots, they die, and usually with a wtf. The anchor is a great replacement for a gs even for higher levels and like others mentioned, the crush is extremely good on most armor people wear. I've fought people with gs's while using my anchor and have won at least half the times i've fought. More people should use anchor, I know I do
