The best science?

Bio is alright, but I've grown tired of classifying animals in a system that's going to be changed in the next few years.

It's going to be changed? Nice, just when I learned that I am actually not a fun-gi.

Physics and chemistry are equally rawsome. Anywhere from quantum physics to studying chaotic theory of sub-atomic particles. I REALLY HATE these sciences when taught it school. Sure they teach you the basics but who the {bleep} cares how fast a 15kg ball rolls on a 30 degree slant in comparison to a 31.

Biology is pretty cool too, and math of course is a necessity for all of these.

Quantum physics is probably one of my most favourite topics

I don't even read that comic and it's the first thing that came to mind.

I would say physics interests me the most, but it's all gravy.

Awww I was so about to post that. I enjoy biology and psychology the most. Hence my major, biopsychology.

First thing that came to mind was the xkcd purity comic :P Anyway, I'd say maths and physics are my favourite, though I do well at chemistry too.

The reason i don't like your sciences the most is that you can't do them just whenever you feel like or with no diffilculty - Thats why i like observing the night sky, watching the planets finding constellations etc.. you can do this in almost any area as long as theres not much light pollution and it's very interesting. I mean even tonight i glanced out of the window and i see a bright meteor coming down from the sky, it fragmenting into smaller peices until it completely dimmed out of view! I do not know of any other science you mentioned being so involving! but on your list i'd probably put biology or chemistry first, physics can get very confusing and mathematical science is just plain boring. :? .

I don't know about mathematics being boring.

I too held that view a while ago. Many times, the thought relapses.

But sometimes a mathematical problem presents an entirely different scape than anything you've ever seen before, and you're forced to think on your feet and figure it all out. You use every tool at your disposal--and it ends up being like a game. Not too bad.

Though, the same occurs for every science, so... I just wasted two minutes.

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

I think of all the sciences my mind and intuition seems to be most suited to physics. But I find all the sciences interesting. I dropped biology for A-level because I knew that a large part of the course at our school is ecology based, which I don't find hugely interesting, and at A-level I think biology involves a lot of memorisation. I enjoy chemistry, but find the A-level experiments too prescribed and restrictive.

I don't really consider mathematics a science, but I know why it's lumped in there with them. I love maths, especially the pure and mechanics modules we do. I think statistics is too number-crunching based at A-level, and is consequently boring, but I can see it's useful and probably more interesting at a higher level.

Theoretical physics interests me more than experimental. But I think pure maths might leave me cold as a career.

Maths is a science?

I like bio,its good to know what does what, and also, reproduction!

Chem is fun,and I find it bloody easy to remember chemicals.

Physics is a real [bleep] though,I can remember formulae, but I forget them during exams,or my practical fails.

Physics is probably my favourite. I enjoyed it because it was really interesting to hear the explanations behind everyday things that we don't think about (and also non-everyday things).

Exactly, my friends always hated when I could give a scientific explination for anything they said :P.

What happened to Geology?

The study of rocks isn't exactly as groundbreaking as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics are.

I'd say earth science is though. That includes geology, astronomy and meteorology - I think.

I don't know why I like math so much. Though I think I'd say algebra/arithmetic > physics > geometry.

BIOLOGY FTW!! (L)

Favourite subject at GCSE, favourite subject at AS-Level. I love it.

Biology>Chemistry>Physics>Maths

Biology because I find the body and everything about it fascinating

Chemistry because I'm doing it at AS-Level too, that's interesting

Always found physics the most dull one of the three

And maths seems irrelevant. I mean its obviously useful to an extent, adding and subtracting and all that jazz. But expanding brackets? Really? :wall:

Physics- I'm interested in getting into 3D animation so this will come in handy

Mathematics- I also do some basic programming, nothing fancy

Chemsitry- I thought I would like this one but it just is so boring for me (Or maybe it's my teacher that just sucks :P )

Biology- I can't imagine a less interesting subject.

If you continue chemistry to A2 level you'll find maths A-level useful. If you continue chemistry to degree level you'll find it almost essential. Maths comes up in some form or another in nearly every science. Hugely so in physics, but also in chemistry and to a lesser extent biology, depending on your topic of specialisation.

Chemistry.

I just love the study of chemicals / materials, and finding their uses, or finding out how dangerous they are.

Apparently I'm a born natural for chemistry, so it's a breeze tbh :P

The only thing is, I'm stuck in a biology class for the rest of the year, which really sucks because it's not really my area of liking, or expertise for that matter.

Basic chemistry gave me a hard time studying for. Biology is just easier on my brain.

I've always quite fancied psychology though. I just loved the exploration of the human nature thingy stuff etc.

Not just physics. QUANTUM physics.

Edit:

Anybody know (specifically) what professions employ both [quantum]physics (by that I mean I would prefer physics at the subatomic level rather than basic physics) and programming? Or possibly relativity (special/general) and programming? Or all three?
