Dragon Claws - The savior or bane of PVP?

Featured Replies

My first topic ever in this forum, and one that personally affects me as well (and slightly biased on).

How do you feel about the Dragon Claws? Are they ridicuously overpowered, as many people on the forums claim or are they the (second/third/...) best thing to have happened to PVP?

Would it be justified to "nerf" them or their special attack?

Are they worth what they are? Overpriced or underpriced?

I'm hoping for a healthy discussion from both sides.

IMO any item that can do a KO (sure or not sure one hit kill) is the worse thing to happen in the combat aspect of any game.

RuneScape is becoming too easy #-o

I hate all this uber powerful new stuff.

Smartest thing I heard all day. =D>

It is not even fair to pkers who don't have anywhere near that much money to waste on a trash weapon that has no real use besides its special attack.

And that's why F2P pking is better

IMO, it's no worse than the DDS'ers hitting double 36's, or the Dark Bower's hitting double 28's.

To kill the Tormented demons, you can get attacked by more than 2?

2 Demons=max hit 60...

3 Demons=Max hit =90...

So it better not get nerfed...

It hasn't gotten nerfed.

It's not that insanely overpowered, and it's not the savior of PVP. It's another specing weapon, slightly better then the AGS; reasonably accurate, pretty fast, but by no means miraculous. It can be avoided pretty easily, and it's very difficult to 2 hit someone.

Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29

GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon Boots

Dry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

the point of a high powered weapon is to counteract high powered armor, prayers, foods, potions, and shields. Whenever you add bandos, see a drop of SIGNIFICANCE in barrows, and see a rise in the use of food that has a higher healing power, along with all of the armor, prayers, and potions we have already had, there needs to be something to counteract that. the dragon claws, if no one has noticed, has a big downfall. when you switch to them, you leave your self anywhere from 15 to 75 (or more) points lower in defense bonuses than you were. If you have someone with a VLS or an AGS and they have piety and vengeance activated, then shouldnt the person with the dragon claws have a chance? and if so, shouldnt them getting a chance to ko also give a negative effect at the same time?

its a game of positives and negatives, and more recently a lot of people are only looking at the positives.

Then make it so you have to finish the quest to use it, or at least it's special. People can simply buy it without having to even know where it comes from...

When you go feather dragon god, you never go back.

Why so much discussion about the dragon claws? Has everybody already forgotten about their 30k, equally-lethal counterpart - the dds?

yep!

Btw, dclaws aren't all too great. a lvl 127 with 99 attack and i think 99 strength failed to kill me with two dclaw specials and I have 82 hp. I was wearing full void, also known as..."PAPER".

i managed to get him to half health before he killed me with his regular claw attack.

I know someone with 23 pairs of claws. He soloed the tormented demon several weeks and used around 6m in supplies =P~ . He is waiting till it goes up to like 40m to dump ( i personally see a crash at 15m).

E: With the introduction of more powerful weapons and spells, jagex may increase the hitpoint cap? Several weapons can reach 90+ damage.

In my opinion, D Claws don't really need to be nerfed. All it does is highlight the bias of weapon speeds that we've placed on our weapon choice -- something that RS2 Combat was expected to remedy.

From what i have observed Dragon Claws go for 10M+ on forums, and i have seen 70M at maxium....

How is paying that big price for a item such as this not worth a advantage over PVP?

It's not like people go to forum and say "I wanna buy a Claw" and guess what...i got one!!!

It probably is "Darn that's so expensive-.-"

IMO the dragon claws aren't that great of a weapon. I mean sure, they have the ability to K0 someone in a couple seconds if they're not careful, but if you can turn your prayer on in time the claws are not that dangerous.

So you DONT HAVE TO KILL THEM. (or have to be able to).

He just means: you dont need to finish the quest to be able to use them.

It's all about the KO in PvP. They're the savior of it in that sense.

However, it's just another thing to chalk up to Runescape's failing combat system. Weapons are getting more and more powerful while players aren't. It'll only get worse and worse until Jagex increase the cap or alter the combat system altogether.
