Simple rules, recommend a book to the person above you and then below that put the book you just read. (So they have a general idea of what you like.)

Example:

I reccomend Book by Author to the poster above me.

I just read Book that you just read by Author.

I just read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolken.

]

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Regardless of what anyone above me will post, I will recommend that.

I just read Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett.

The Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. Great, great, series. 4 books, all reaaaaaaaaaally long, but some fantastic science fiction writing. And it's from the eighties. And it actually has deep messages. Or massages. One of those.

Just read To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (for school). Pretty good...

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

"Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley; good book, bit of an anti technology book but the plot is very interesting and it isnt a boring monolog like a lot of anti technology books (my fav book)

Just finished reading "Lord of the Flies" by Golding for english, pretty good book

Orthodoxy is unconciousness

Secrets of the Monarch by Allison DuBois

Synopsis

We wouldn't be the people we are without the influence of those who lived before us. Like the monarch butterfly, which ensures the survival of its species with a migration that takes several generations, we can ensure the happiness of future generations simply by making the most out of life today.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

Dark tower: Stephen King

Amazing series of fiction...

I'm going to recommend East of Eden by John Steinbeck, but only because I liked it. It's hard to tell what someone's tastes are when they only post 1 book they've read, especially when it was only read for a school project.

I last read the 3rd volume of The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, i'm currently working on #4&5. I also enjoyed "The Time Machine did it" by John Swartzwelder, because I like comedy writing.

I recommend 1984 by George Orwell to the poster above me, and, for that matter, anyone 12 and up or anyone who can handle a little bit of dirty reading, whichever comes later.

I just read... Well, I was working on getting through PHP Objects, Patterns, and Practice lately but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're trying to learn PHP.

Recommend: Dan Abnett, Eisenhorn (get the omnibus edition, totally worth it)

Also recommend that Lenin reads it again.

Just read/currently reading: C. L. Werner, Mathias Thulmann: Witch Hunter (omnibus edition: Witch Hunter/Witch Finder/Witch Killer)

I recommend Next by Michael Crichton. It's very slightly science fiction, but it's mostly reality based. It's quite funny too.

Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman.

Read it twice or thrice, and still love it.

Just done with The Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, again.

Both are good books.

Read Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Great and funny book.

I'm looking for a fantasy book with elements of humour in it, I reckon, something along the lines of Terry Pratchett or Jonathan Stroud.

I find the DragonLance trilogy to be humorous, but many of the "jokes" are quite hard to notice.Hell, sometimes its just the mental image of what's going on that's funny.Regardless,Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weiss are great authors.

I'm look for books from Dark Sword and the Dark Tower series (I know,I know.Funnily,I just finished the Dark Magician trilogy),and yeah anything similar to either would be great.

^^^Vampires? Definately need to read Vampire Hunter D...I've lived off the books for the past couple weeks and they're really good if you want to watch an anime or read a manga, but can do neither at school...its written as if it were on of those...though the author says he hates manga and anime...
