Didn't Piscatoris used to be an island before hunter was added and then they filled it in? Or am I imagining things? Something like that could always be done again possibly, or for the first time if it never happened.

It wasn't exactly an island, you just couldn't walk into the area where hunting now is, so you had to take a boat. However, at some point before they added hunter you could see the fairy ring and some other stuff just south of Piscatoris.

That said, Witchaven was added to in as a bump in the coastline outside East Ardougne where before there had only been sea.

The rock prison was also only water untill Jagex made the Rocking out Quest.

Moss le'Harmless was just a square piece of land in the blackness before Trouble Brewing arrived. I kept wondering what it could be, and why it wasn't surrounded by land or water or whatever.

I was one of the lucky people who had seen the map leak, and I'm not really sure about the images here. Yes it was rectangular and green, much like the one shown here, but I also seem to remember a bit of a sandy brown coastline, instead of a solid green landmass. But thats just me, maybe I'm horribly wrong :) . Anyway I'm hoping a new continent will pop up, I'm tired of all the new updates being squeezed in between existing game content :? . It's only a matter of time really, because the Eastern Lands have to arrive sometime.

I don't think the Ogre lands will connect to the Elven ones, because that causes a problem: The Elven Lands are so mysterious because you can't get there without tremendous effort. A Mountain, a Poison Waste, a huge ocean, nice. Placing a new mountain range in the Ogre Lands so the Elves stay sheltered is always an option, but if Gielenor expands to the west it becomes easier and easier to just take a rowing boat or whatever and paddle to the Elves. In my opinion a possible continent to the west has to have a seriously huge ocean between it and us, otherwise it causes all sorts of complications. One thing Jagex could do is surround Tirannwn with enchanted rocks/isles (like in the Silmarillion), so it stays sheltered from that side. Then Trader Stan would earn my respect big time, and I'll nominate him for Sailing Cape Seller  .

Due to my epic stats, I have now started WGS (but I still hate spoilers).

A small question.

Why is the Gielinor = sphere in the title? That's a well-known fact, no?

priest_wiz.png

wasn't there a recent hint about the eastern lands? can't remember what it was though :@

BTS December with the new hair-cuts.

You're in luck, I happen to have an actual screenshot (200% magnification) of the world map leak...

From what I have been told by people who use private servers, that piece of land is still there to this day, but I think the clients they use are pretty old so maybe that's inaccurate.

  • Never trust anyone. You are always alone, and betrayal is inevitable.
  • Nothing is safe from the jaws of the decompiler.

Allright that's what I'm talking about, yeah! Good one Dooku! Highfive?

Anyway, people were right about it being a solid green landmass, and I was wrong with the brown coast part... but it does have brown edges :P To Soulattacker, I don't understand why they program (or whatever) a piece of land right next to the real world, with it's edge even touching the ocean, all for a POH. That doesn't sounds like something Jagex would do :? . All the other dimensional thingies are placed far away from the main world.

hmm... if it was a sphere that could cause some problems, like the northern wilderness line (too north for the wilderness? :-# ).... But it is an interesting thought.

Dang....

I guess my memory does fade away after all.

Here's what I think:

West: As already stated, there will probably be more elf land or greek-themed land that way.

Ogre side south: I got nothing except maybe more tropical stuff.

Desert south: More cities, more sand

East: eastern lands, more mortyana

North: Penguin soviet union thing, maybe more fueding islands.

Ok... Im not that good. But I have an anchor!!!

I believe the "Tumeken's Dream" explains much of the unexplored terrain in the desert

The following quote seems to speak about the conflict between sophanem and menaphos

based on this, there should be an area with alot of monkeys somewhere near sophanem and menaphos, presumably south of it

[hide=]

On the second day of his dream, Tumeken chose to travel to the west of the desert, where it was known that two encampments of men did dwell, of opposing forces. He travelled over tall dunes and rocky outcrops for some time, passing pyramids erected to honour figures of worship, until eventually he reached the border between the two camps.

There, he saw groups of men, women and children from both camps, facing each other upon their border. They were heatedly arguing, but not a single argument - small groups splintered from the main: gossiping, debating, scrapping and insulting over every issue of contention two peoples can have. Tumeken saddened upon seeing his followers so embittered.

Then, beyond the throng he caught sight of a troupe of apes, preening each other, playing and learning together, sharing food and chittering excitedly. And he did call out to them, and the two tribes held their tongues in awe as one of the apes scampered between them towards Tumeken, whereupon she clambered playfully up onto the god's shoulders. Then, looking back to the troupe, the tribes understood why he had chosen to bless the monkey and not them, and vowed to mend their ways.

Tumeken stroked the monkey's chin and said: "You are, indeed, the most sociable of creatures, bringing joy and happiness to all around. I shall give unto you a piece of myself, so that you may help me rule this desert realm, an example to my people to take pleasure in the joys of society, so that they too can be blessed by Tumeken." And so, the lesser god Apmeken was born, and Tumeken, happy with his day's work, returned to his camp at the centre of the desert to prepare for tomorrow's journey.

this quote is about the far southern desert. According to this excerpt, the far sou thern desert was more or less empty. However there may be a large number of insects in this region, perhaps various insectoid followers of scabaras

[hide=]

on the fourth day of his dream, Tumeken chose to travel to the south of the desert. Not much was to be found in that region, but it was the last place unexplored by him, and so he set out. The heat was particularly fierce that day, but regardless, Tumeken pressed on through endless dunes.

Hours passed without event. Not a single soul crossed the god's path; not one lone settlement. Yet the sun still bore down on the god, sweltering and desiccating him. Tumeken reached for his skin, for Elid's life-blood, but found it empty - he had drained it on his previous travels, forgetting to refill it each day. Knowing his predicament, he knew he had to seek shelter from the heat and wait out the day, lest he himself succumb to the desert.

As he was nearing his limits, his grateful eyes fell upon a lone tunnel entrance, which delved deep below the desert, providing him a cool place in which to recuperate. Many more hours passed within this cave, providing the god with ample time in which to reflect forlornly. During this time, he saw a small beetle burrow his way into the chamber, but noticing Tumeken, the creature burrowed away. An hour later, the beetle emerged out of another tunnel, but seeing the god still there, disappeared once again.

Yet another hour passed and the beetle returned, but Tumeken was ready this time, snatching up the cautious little thing and said: "You are, indeed, the most unusual being, digging your tunnels in isolation, avoiding contact even with me, your god. I shall give unto you a piece of myself, so that you may help me rule this desert realm, an example to my people of what can become of them, should they stray too far into solitude." And so, the lesser god Scabaras was forcibly born, the last of the lesser gods.

And Tumeken longed again to see his wife and children, and was impassioned by Scabaras to end his dream. For, despite their flaws, they were no more flawed than he. Night had now fallen, so, after emerging from the cave, Tumeken returned to his camp at the centre of the desert, not to rest for another day's journey, but to awaken from his dream.

IT IS NOT A SPHERE! As histories say Guthix modified a preformed PLANE! Planes are by definition FLAT!

OH S***! He/she/it is back!

it would be very interesting if rs was a round world like earth and if you walk too far west you end up at the east side of the flat map. might want to add some more land before making the whole world circle though...and it would probably take some time to set the whole thing up..

Go to the Wise Old Man's house and look around.

You will find a globe there.

More references to it being a plane. Not to mention the unlikelihood of the RS map actually being curved...

OH S***! He/she/it is back!

It wouldn't cause any problems, it probably is spherical. Think about it. They would just form it like a flat world map - you can see all types of world maps which are flat, but you know the world is a sphere. They'd call it a sphere but the rs map would remain flat, liek the world map. Simple. ::'

the world of Gielinor is supposed to be a sphere... but what is on the other side? new lands to be discovered and they should make it more like that when u can walk around the world supposedly...

This map fills in some stuff i guess. they may have just filled the gaps to produce a full map for the mini game but whatever.

Ooo, I didn't even think of that, shows that mortania and Elf lands stop.

But your also right is saying, they could have done that to make it looks pretty.

Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!

RS is most likely a sphere. But they can't lay it out as one. Runescape's coding lays it out on 5 levels if i remember correctly.

-1 is the dungeon plane

0-4 are levels in the outside world

and that is why 4 stories is as high as buildings in RS go

they can't code it into a sphere, whether it is meant to be one or not

Edit: That "leak" is so fake pamela anderson's breasts look at it and say "damn that is fake!"

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.-

IRL for a world map to be flat people have to flub the sizes of landmasses a bit, otherwise they're forced to do the peeled open football shapes to make it accurate.

Even thought they cant code it out as a 3D sphere it is still very possible to make runescape round. Lets be creative here.

After walking past "easternmost zone3" it loads back to "westermost zone1" a good way to do this would be through going through an underground ladder, going through a the dungeon plane then comming back up another ladder. :)

Another way to do it would be via a teleport device. eg. mule/ boat "you board the dessert caravan and arrive in location ____"

interestingly enough runescape HD has 6 layers. water bed are there own layer technically. if you dont beleive me read the dev. diary.
