OT: It could get serious. Put somethign over it to prevent stuff from getting into it. It should help for about maybe until you get back, then you get some treatment. Seriously, asswounds are not to be messed with.

And your eyes will bleed if you keep the lenses on too long... Not to mention they can hurt if you don't wear them properly.

I'm awful with my contact lenses and am yet to get an infection. I don't track how long I use the same pair, am not thoroughly clean when I'm putting them in or taking them out, and often times I'll fall asleep with them in when I get back from the pub.

 

 

 

You should take much better care with them of course, I'm only saying that your eyes won't fall out if you mess up a little.

When was your last tetanus shot? If it's within the last 10 years (don't know if that's changed recently) you should be fine. But you can still be prone to infection, especially if crap is getting in it.

 

 

 

Ring around all the surgeries in your local area. Surely someone is willing to bulk bill you. It took me all of 3 phone calls to find a doctor who bulk bills my entire family and is a children's specialist. Oh wait, you might be in another country so not sure about your health system sorry.

Fecal matter is literally choc full of bacteria, some of them potentially dangerous if they get into the bloodstream. I'd definitely use a disinfectant if you think there's a chance of contamination.

 

 

 

One of the basic rules of disease etiology in microbiology is just because a bunch of bacteria are harmless or even beneficial in one place (the gastrointestinal tract), that doesn't mean they'll be harmless elsewhere. For example, harmless E.coli in the gastrointestinal tract can cause a urinary tract infection while Staphylococci on your skin can cause food poisoning if ingested after handling food, etc.

 

 

 

As for tetanus, it's cause by the bacterium Clostridium tetani, which is found primarily in soil. Your biggest chance of getting tetanus is if this rusted pen knife was on the ground and if you're not covered by vaccination.

 

 

 

I'm not so sure about contact lenses, though.

With contact lenses, try not to go over their time limit. 1.5x their time is fine. Don't go over 2x their allocated time.

Don't worry about infections, that's what's going to give you them. Anyway, your immune system needs practice, so leave it at that.

I think by Caning he means the old Whip-Cane, commonly used to hit young men over the arse back in the 50's and 60's untill it was deemed gruesome (Australia wise anyway). i'd just go see your local GP, none of us are full doctors so you've got a better chance at a GP (not that im doubting anyone).

lol, child abuse. i got my fair share of the easy punishments too. "go to your room" "you're grounded for x amount of time" easy [cabbage]. i wouldn't consider it abuse, i fully deserved it. back then i didn't care either. a few hits with the paddle was well worth making my parents lives hell every day. never really could figure out why i enjoyed tormenting them so much, but god i did. so yeah, not child abuse cause i fully deserved it. sounds like the netherlands are weak on real punishments. dragoonson will be fine as long as he cleans it, bandages it, and is careful when he wipes, there is no need whatsoever for police involvement, cause it's not domestic violence. although i find caning to be an odd response to joking about suicide.

Seriously, your health isn't something to screw around with. You could be fine, or you could get an infection which could keep you out of work for a lengthy period overall costing you much more than 30 dollars.

Umm, I can't help you with any but the contacts....

 

 

 

Definitely change them in the time instructed. If you wait to long you are definitely increasing the chance of an infection. It's not too bad if you leave them in for maybe a week after you are due for a change, but definitely don't wait too long. A few things could happen if you keep them in too long:

 

 

 

1. Infection

 

 

 

2. Dirty, blurry contacts that can lead to an infection

 

 

 

3. Protein buildup that results in pain that stings like a mother when you take out/change your contacts.....(if pain doesn't do away within an hour or so then you most likely have an infection)

 

 

 

Trust me, all this has happened to me....had a pair in for about 11 months.....don't ask why, because I really haven't the slightest idea why I did not change them.

 

 

 

Write down the date that you change them and aim for that same date the next month. It makes things a lot easier.

I cut my [wagon] once with a razor. (Don't ask.) I just put some rubbing alcohol on it and it was fine. Don't worry yourself. As for the rusty knife, that might be more serious. Check to see if you had your tetanus shot. If you did then you will be fine, just clean it out.

We may be weak on punishment but that's only because we've learnt to talk instead of bashing eachothers heads (or butts in this case) and hate eachother for no reason. I guess fighting is more part of American culture than it is of Dutch culture. Wonder which I prefer...
