A) I would love to see RSC open to the public again, whilst now comparatively retro in appearance by comparison to the current High Detail version of RuneScape its still a great game which posses a unique charm and we are still deeply proud of our ground breaking roots.

 

The key problem with opening up the game to the public is the absence of the anti-cheating and macro systems we have built up over the last few years, it is also the case that RSC contains all the features that were causing real world trading and therefore incentivising credit card fraud.

 

 

 

From above it is clear we simply cannot open the current RSC game to the public without some substantial changes. Our development efforts are almost exclusively focused on evolving the latest version of RuneScape and therefore I suspect it would be years before we could fix RuneScape Classic.

 

 

 

One idea that we are considering is perhaps opening the current RSC game to the public but providing everybody with the cheat codes to set their skills and inventory to whatever they liked. That way everybody could have whatever they wanted in game and there would be no incentive or advantage to cheat or bot.

 

Naturally the RSC account would be isolated to RSC worlds and could never interact with the current version of RuneScape.

A) No, we currently continue to maintain the existing servers in recognition of our most loyal and ardent fans but all our support and development efforts are around the latest version of RuneScape.

 

There is a small but dedicated community of just under 500 active players on RSC, I would expect that unsavoury individuals would quickly become isolated in such a close nit community.

As a current Classic player, I must voice my discontent with this idea, then completely retract that once I found out RS2 players would not gain access to the rsc forums or the regular rsc worlds, and Mod Mark Gerhard has put an RSC exclusive item for rs2 on the drawing board.

I don't think its fair to call them "the most loyal players in Runescape". What about the freaks who just never got the chance to play RS1, yet totally love RS2 ? Do they deserve to be called less loyal?

 

 

 

Or the maybe 80-90% of the players in 2004 who helped Jagex keep RS alive by migrating from RS1 to RS2 upon launching?

 

At the time Jagex would call you loyal if you switched over to RS2, and now they plan on rewarding the ones who did not?

 

 

 

So to sum things up. I don't see a valid reason to create just another gap between RS1 players and RS2 players. It will at best just result in a new generation of braggarts and elitists.

This is how I basically felt. I don't think it really is necessary. Yes, I've played classic, but I still don't think this is all worth the trouble.

I'm very much against this; have respect for the elders. RS1 was a time of a different community and the players helpful--at least until the last few months. I would like to go back because I enjoyed RS1 much more than RS2, but as for letting the rest do the same, what's left of the community would crumble.

 

 

 

Sorry guys. I have more respect for RS1 than for RS2. I understand there are loyal players who never played RS1, but they should know where the line is not to be crossed. I do not stand for the braggers, though, who think they are above everyone else because of their veteranship.

Apologize for what? Improving RuneScape and making it a better game? If anything the people that remained in classic should apologize for keeping classic alive instead of letting Jagex completely move on, and for keeping so many party hats and other rares isolated from the real RuneScape market.

I didn't even notice they called RSC players more loyal than RS2 players! I am very insulted. That's like saying people that still use Windows 1.0 are loyal Windows Users. A real loyal user would upgrade their product every time a new product was released.

 

 

 

RSC players are not the loyal ones, the loyal ones were the ones that when they saw Jagex release a new version of RuneScape they decided to trust that the new version would be better and upgrade to it.

I agree with you on this one. Calling RSC players the most loyal is not wholly accurate. We're just the longest playing, not necessarily the most loyal. Longevity does not always imply loyalty.

Yes all his other accomplishments and goals aside, the idea that Mod MMG would want to give RSC players something in rs2 (cough, bunny ears, cough scythe, cough other rsc items) should get him fired. Immediately. Not only that, but Donald Trump should be the one to deliver it.

It makes perfect sense to me. Sounds like someone is a bit jealous over a simple in-game item.
