Handedness and Technology

I've noticed that there are some pretty freakin' awesome legends in the world of computers, and some of the more significant ones are left-handed. Some little known trivia that Bill Gates and 4 out of 5 of the original Mac designers were/are left handers (and hippies).

I'm sure many of you have heard the correlation between the fine arts & left handedness, but I had never before heard of technology being a lefty-magnet.

So, just out of curiosity, what is the status of your handedness and how tech savvy are you? ::'

and these children that you spit on as they try to change

their worlds, they are immune to your consultations;

they're quite aware of what they're going through.

I'm a lefty, but I don't have too much experience with technology. I may know a thing or two about computer hardware (computer graphic cards, internal hardrives.. the nerd stuff) but nothing too spectacular. However, when I used to design websites, the forum I got my skills from was filled (60%+) of lefties. I think there's a correlation between lefties and art only because they believe they have more potential than the average person, and that personal confidence is the cause for more imagination ect.

There are so many disadvantages though, like bringing your own pair of scissors to work

I'm right handed but I know a bit about computers, not a lot though.

I know the basics such as what is RAM and what it does, processors, motherboards etc etc.

But I'm quite good at fine arts. I can draw, write poetry and paint.

Though some may argue that anyone can draw, write poetry and paint, I'd say I do it very well.

Not bragging or anything but I really think this is where my talents lie.

I'm left handed. I've built 2 of my own computers before (one was mine, one was for my younger brother). I also have probably dealt with more oddball problems on the PC than anyone else, so I guess I'm pretty competent on a PC. (I've also been a digital artist for over 8 years *Points to signature*) so you might be right about it pointing to creativity and technology.

I'm right handed, and do web design as a hobby. I've also done some PHP, JavaScript and C but I'm not the best at them. I've built a computer at least once I guess, but hardware is not my area. Whenever something technical is broken someone's always yelling for me. Happened today in fact. :|

I've noticed a correlation between being left-handed and being awesome, though it could simply be coincidence.

I'm right-handed. Meh. But my dad is left-handed, and he certainly is good with technology.

The left side of the brain is for logic and the right side is for intuitivism. If this has anything to do with what hand you use for writing, then I guess you could say there is some causation going on here.

This is actually a massive generalisation. Little tidbits of popular psychology like this are rarely correct (using 10% of brain etc). I can't explain much further, but I'm sure Dusqi or Goddess would be able to.

I'm lefty. I think I'm better than your average adult when it comes to computers, but then most people simply dont even try to learn. Either way, there's still any number of people better than me. I definitely cant do anything handy with the hardware end of a computer, but I do know a bit around the software side. I took 2 terms of java as an Honors class in high school, and before that I used to fiddle around with a small basic scripting language called Torquescript. That said, I for the most part lack a formal education with most computer equipment. My redeeming trait is that I am willing to devote lots of time for something i'm interested in, so I can do what I want thanks to sheer persistence.

I'm left handed, uses right hand for mouse.

I've never cared much for software, and never wanted to learn programming&etc either.

On the other hand (pun intended lol), i'm very intrested in hardware. There are loads and loads better than me, but it's my best area. Knows basic overclocking too (both gpu/cpu). I read on a daily basis different hardware sites, both forums, tests and news.

I don't think it has much to do with wheter you're left or right-handed tho.

Right handed, and like Joe I'd say I'm more interested in hardware. I've done some programming for PICAXE chips before but I didn't find it hugely stimulating (it was just basic though). I'm doubtful if your handedness affects your ability to get to grips with technology; it may be because of the different sides of the brain though I wouldn't jump to conclusions unless it's been scientifically proven.

I am right-handed, head of technology at my school. I run all of the programs (events) and make the promo videos.

I am also a /b/rother of the legion.

Good to see someone else is as lazy as me. :D

One of my friends did co-ordination, shape and figure aptitude tests, and left eye/right eye distance relation and how all this relates to the different hemispheres of the brain. He did that for his science major.

I'll ask him what he found.

I'm right handed, very strong in the areas of math and science, more specifically the natural sciences/physics type stuff. My sister is left-handed, and is pretty much the opposite, very artistic and into photography.

I'm right handed and all I can do is type quickly but I do know a little bit about computers & html :P

In primary I used to associate left handed people with dumb people who's handwriting was messy.

(No, I don't think that now, it was in primary when I thought that)

I've heard it's very hard to write on a white board if you're left handed because you tend to wipe what you've written as you go.

I'm left handed.

I am pretty good with computers and other tech gadgets. I don't know how to do programming or things like that but I find if I have to learn anything technology related, I pick it up fairly fast.

I'm also good at fine arts.
