Do you multi task??

Recommended Posts

For as long as I can remember I have always been a HUGE multi-tasker. I don't know why, but I have a lot of trouble doing just one thing at a time, and while often my multi tasking leads to procrastination and less effiency, I still rarely do something without multi-tasking.

For example, yesterday I went to the gym and was riding the bike there while listening to my ipod (a day to remember to be specific), watching one of the NCAA tournament games, and reading some lit book for homework.

I pretty much never do my work without listening to music, and I usually have 2 or more distracters going on at once. Maybe I have ADHD, maybe I just really like being inneficient, maybe i just really like music...who knows

I know I ALWAYS multi task while playing runescape, and i'm sure alot of you do too :P

So do any of you multi task as much as me to keep yourself entertained/get what you need to do done?

I guess I multitask. Nothing major, mostly its on the computer, just things like talking on MSN, listening to music, browsing forums, and eating.

Right now I'm browsing TIF, eating cereal, listening to music, and writing a history paper.

So yes.

I've been brining down my multi-tasking as much as possible ever since I discovered how much better my grades were when I studied with the TV and computer off. I still have to listen to music though, but I just tune out and tap my foot to the beat.

When it comes to general courses though (such as English), I always multi-task. I'm currently writing an essay, listening to music, browsing TIF and chatting on MSN

I am a woman, of course I do.

Mm, I usually do. I have multiple windows up, listen to music and I have my phone nearby for texting.

Once I was eating a chocolate eclair whilst playing TF2. Doesn't sound like much but trust me, it's hard.

watching [nudity] and [you know what]? :?

But yeah, I can multitask. Eating cereal, yoyo-ing, Browsing forums, listening to music, facebooking, Runescape, msning can all easily be done at once, and... doing homework can all be done at once.

I can multitask just about anything except reading. When I read I need total concentration.

I know what you mean. Oftentimes I'll listen to music while reading, and unless it fits the atmosphere really well, I have a hard time concentrating on the reading and focus more on the music.

Multitasking generally simplifies down to procrastination for me.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

I don't think I'm that great at multitasking, I think the only thing I can do properly that involves multitasking is have a conversation with two people at once about different things while doing my school work and eating while listening to music (doesn't happen often though).

Why do I get the feeling that people who say they multi-task so many things, are only doing it to boost their ego?

On second thought, I don't even multi-task. I have forums up when I play games, but only during loading screens or AFK-times.

Explain to me how talking about doing more than one action at once can boost ones ego...

Am I supposed to feel more satisfied telling people that I can do homework while listening to music as opposed to just telling them I can do my homework??

Care to explain that logic? :?:

I multitask on things that do not require my undivided attention. If I feel something is important then I will focus my time and energy on that particular thing. I personally would rather do my best the first time at something than having to re-do it because I was focused on something else at the time.

Mostly listening to music/tv on while doing homework, or browsing different things on the internet at the same time. When I read a book, I've got to have the tv on, I dunno if it's a habit or if I actually need some sorta background noise for me to concentrate on the book..

I daily listen to music while browsing TIF, using Photoshop, chatting in Skype (And sometimes MSN), using a virtual machine and possibly programming in Eclipse. It's not the most epic multi-tasking, but I don't have much more to do.

I don't think the term "multitasker" should be applied to teenagers who can't get anything done without distracting themselves and making the task at hand take three times as long as it should.

Listening to Rise Against while reading Lord of the Flies does not count as multitasking. Completing expense reports while dealing with clients over the phones does.

Either learn to concentrate or stop glorifying your negative qualities.
