Swine flu virus

Ever since the SARS incident I've decided not to listen to anybody but someone with a scientific background about subjects such as these. So far no scientific person I know has anything conclusive or enlightening to say on the swine flu subject, which leaves me to believe it's just a regular flu that unfortunately is very hard to fight and contain in poor and populated countries such as Mexico. I know it sounds as though I'm being a genuine [wagon] about the subject, and I blame the media for my views. I do however sympathize with everyone affected by it, since I find any sickness, no matter how deadly, quite unpleasant.

Swine flu is like bird flu. What ever happened to bird flu killing everyone? The media plays off peoples fears (like religion), that's all this is. The swine flu will quietly die out and we'll have the next pandemic on our hands. Simple as that.

 

 

 

 

Are you really that much of a flamebait artist as to bring religion into EVERY possible subject? I'm not just talking about you, but most of OT. You talk [cabbage] about religion every chance you get, and why? You say you hate it when someone tries to push their beliefs on you? It's just as annoying when an atheist does it.

 

 

 

And why do you think religion plays on people's fears? It's not a corporation (though scientology maybe is, what religion charges you to be in it?). They don't have some grand plan to take over the earth, and they're not making money from it.

I hardly ever actually get into any debate which isn't based around religion in the first place. This is like only the second one. That's my opinion and if I want to compare the media to organized religionI will. If you have such a problem with it then leave.

So today my family went to a Mexican restaurant. My mom made us leave before we even got our water because she thought she was going to get sick.

I don't think the media is blowing it out of proportion that much, people have died even every one of them was in Mexico (apart from the 23 month old baby in America) where they don't have the best medical care...

 

Cholera is killing way more people in Zimbabwe, 4200 since August 2008 according to the World Health Organization. And most people haven't heard a single word about it.

It's in Phase 5 now. One of the schools near me got quarantined because some kid might have had it.

 

 

 

I don't care what the hell this is. If it's getting to other countries then it isn't good, period.

 

 

 

edit: I read up about it, it's mainly killing people with weak immune systems. But it's still not good, though I don't think it will wipe us out of course.

Anyways, I just realized something. Recently, Mexico's been have some drug-related gang wars, and thousands of people are dying from this.

 

 

 

And as I type this, I realize something else.

 

 

 

Would this flu keep gangs off the streets? Even if less people are getting killed by gunshots, they (might) die from the flu, so... I don't know if this flu's good or bad for the drug wars. Just a thought.

That's only page one. Apparently the markers from page two don't show up unless you are at page two. (And when you are, the ones from page one disappear...)

 

This obviously has the potential to be extremely serious, but I do kind of feel it is somewhat over-hyped. Yes, people are going to die, but it seems like the majority who get it are perfectly fine. That's because, of course, they get treated.

 

Apparently some kids a bit north of here (in Massachusetts) have/had it. They were in Mexico, but they've been kept home ever since they got home, which hopefully means it hasn't spread too much, or at all, in this area.
