Jagex really know how to make crap updates.

it's mmg i swear. i mean look at it and compare this year to last year. sure they may be talking to us more, but they are talking about updates that wont happen for a long time. i would be happy with by damn bts that guarantied those updates to come, not some [cabbage] of how ma was ready to release 4 months ago but now wont be out for a long time.

Relax, quality, not quantity. You'll be enjoying the updates when they come. OT, I think they should be worth it for f2pers to kill. Are they good exp?

Pretty much done with rs now

There's a reason that hellhounds reside on many permanently blocked tasks lists. Interesting move by jagex to take a very unpopular p2p creature and give it to f2p.

They're only blocked because they're so crowded, which is why jagex put more of them in the game.

Not really, they're blocked for me because they are a waste of time and drop primarily gold charms(I have a clue scroll permanantly residing in my bank).

First, I'm stunned that so many Slayers have them blocked. With the appropriate armor and weapon, you can plow through 120 of them on a single load of monks. But I digress.

I'm glad they moved Hellpups over to freeplay. It finally gives them something better to train on. It also slightly uncrowds the typical member spots (although training with them over there is begging for a Revenant to pay you a visit).

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

I can plow through millions of goblins without food at all, wouldn't make goblins a good task. Most serious slayers care more about xp/hr then resources used, especially since you can piety all most of your tasks, resip super sets are 110, cannon and still turn a profit. They're low xp/hr and crowded. Their charms aren't too great, and they don't drop anything besides clues. And, since about 80% of duradel's assignments drop clues thats nothing special. Making more of them won't persuade me into unblocking them.

And as far as giving them to f2p, I don't see it as a bad thing. It'll give something for higher level f2pers to do. "Safe" greaters are the better present for them though imo.

To be honest, they're hard-hitters if you're wearing full rune. I think I went to Taverly dungeon once to fight them in rune, because I was lagging but I wanted to finish a slayer task, and they hit horribly hard. Who knew that extra +50 made THAT much of a difference?

Fun little update for f2p I would say, but I personally enjoy doing hell hounds when doing slayer. I range them in the ardy pure gold mine. Easy for me and plus I enjoy getting charms/clue scrolls.

So overall, keep it how it is.

A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.

F2p can keep their hell hounds they suck anyways.

No Hellhounds should not get drops just because f2pers want to get something out of their new monster. Members have had hellhounds with no drops for ages and never once complained.

They're known simply for their clue scrolls and that's how it should always be.

Ok, to be fair and counter your F2P hatred, members didn't complain about hellhounds with no drops because the only other high leveled monster they could train wasn't just a lesser demon. It's not like hellhounds were the highest level creature in p2p--there are plenty of other better training monsters besides them. While i don't think they should have drops, i think that for different reasons.

I can plow through a task of 200 with just a bunyip, a few tuna's (mostly I don't even touch them, but just in case), wearing barrows armour with a whip and a rune defender. I use super sets of course (including super def). Yet, i have blocked them...

Hellhounds aren't the most fantastic of monsters to kill, it's hardly an unbalancing thing to do. Let F2P have their hellpups, and move on. It's about time that F2P got a new high levelled monster to kill, even if they are so spread out in the crater.

But there is NO point in killing them. No drops, hit higher than every other F2P monster, and are spread apart. The only reason for killing them is for the challenge or kudos from others. Plus, the craters also contain Greaters- a far better monster for F2P to train on.
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

If you were ever to pick a P2P-only monster than would go F2P, hellhounds would be one of them. Talk about your false gifts.

It's always good that F2P gets new training spots but I can't imagine this spot will be used very often in particular. I'd rather use less food and go to Greater Demons instead for better profit.

interesting responses guys, the general gist i am getting is "i dont mind free to play having a new monster, but they sohuld not have drops because they didnt have drops for all the long years they been out in members"

On the issue, I am 137 and members, so I got better things to do than kill Hellhounds. I used to kill them for slayer tasks, till about 95 slayer, then I just realised they are a waste of time, and for my half the fun from a task is having an inventory full of herbs, runes, gold and items etc...

Now I have blocked them, so im not like "campaigning" for new items, cause im never going to be 99slayer and 10 days so idc, I just wanted to put a drop table out their and read your opinions.

I also found it intersting that some responses were along the lines of "if f2p get new content so should we", I dont agree with this, whilst they do not directly pay to play runescape, they still contribute to the game via adretising and alot of higher level free to players have written some great guys here and RSOF, so to me this point is invalid, f2p players are brothers not enemies to me to put it simply.

In my opinion this area really has nothing going for it anyway. I just checked it out after a slayer task, it is soo spread out. thus it is not really efficient training. Also you cant read forums etc cause you gota be contantly on th elook out for revs, and the revs at my lvl, quite simply "pwn" if your not prepared.

:) Happy Runeventures

Why out of all monsters, did they put Hellhounds in that crater? They don't drop anything for F2P players. There is no point in trying to kill them, because Hellhounds hit far too much on someone with full rune, and Flesh Crawlers/Spiders are still much better xp then Hellhounds.

The least they could've done was to add a droptable or something :|

+1

Although the first Hh I killed today only hit me for 1hp. :| Then again, I only killed one during the entire visit (Greaters are more appealing in terms of drops, heh).

Put it this way: A monster hated by alot of P2P players, given to F2P thus giving them a challenge. the highest level monster in F2P (If im right) is a Greater Demon at only 92 Combat. Giving them something Hard but doesnt drop gives them some slight challenge now. ::'

Technically the highest-level monster was a revenant. But does that really count? ;)

I really honestly don't care at all that f2p can kill hellhounds now. Whatever. It changes nothing.

They are great Slayer XP, actually...

I'd block Zygomites and annoying weird monsters like that.

I love and hate hellhounds tasks there drops make them boring, but there nice exp and high clue % helps break up the task.

You can't remove the bones as before I got 68 summoning I could camp there on the bones alone, don't increase there drops merely increase there numbers.

I've never skipped or burthoped them as there nice exp and require little effort.

Seems like a random monster to add to F2P tbh, black demon would have been a much more interesting choice.

I guess Jagex trying to give a p2p monster as a challenge for f2p players but not offending p2p members meanwhile. Definitely not for training, but for showing off skills and maybe a rite of passage to higher level, like crossing white wolf mountain is a rite of passage from lower level to medium level in p2p.

As a free player, I will consider slaying one hellhound as a rite of passage from medium-high level to advanced level players. I will try one out later... (got any tips? and is my level enough to kill one using full addy and a load of lobsters --- full addy just on the safe side)

I wonder what the reaction from p2p players will be if they add black demons --- especially if they can be ranged, and with all their good f2p drops

Nah black demons are beasts to kill without prayer and even then they take a while.

Maxed players still have trouble tanking them with the best defense gear.

Praying is impractical in F2P as you'd have to keep recharging every 1-2 minute(s).

Range is ok in P2P as you can get a much higher range bonus and more powerful armour (void) and weapons.

So they'd pretty much own a single F2P'er which would allow room for clans/teams to hunt them, aka a worth while F2P clan monster.

O and about the drops a rune chain is about 1 in 50 with the other decent drops F2P drops being rarer.

Personally I'd love to see it just to watch all the newbies think its going to be just like a slightly hard lesser.

How about putting it in the vocanno next to the lesser and greaters as well? If they also make the vocanno multi combat then only the very best of f2p can kill it for the *hopefully* good drops.

But its max hit of 16 seems a bit harsh on f2pers...
