Mobilising armies Commodities - Getting rid of junktrades?

Featured Replies

I just read the article on the RS frontpage about the new minigame, and something struck me.

By making the new Commodities system players can now use the junk that is normally used in junk trades to pay for their armies in Mobilising Armies.

Maybe this is Jagex way to try to get rid of some of those junk trades? and maybe it is only the first update in a larger scale?

What do you guys think? Is this Jagex way of starting to get rid of junktrading?

Definately.

It does it in a really good way. Any items that you might have sitting in your bank can probably be traded in. I used 50k fire runes as payment ::'

Sleep on...fly on.

In your mind, you can fly.

<3: Yay! You didnt get banned. <3:

on topic: Im glad they're incorperating this in, I finally found a use for the 20k fire runes collecting dust in my bank.

Popoto.~<3

Yeah. I had several 100k worth of Maple longbows (u) and shortbow, they were all tradeable which was very handy! If only logs were tradeable..

I'm of mixed feelings. The rewards aren't that decent, I'd be better off keeping the junk and using it to rent or selling it to friends far richer than I.

It's an attempt, but I just can't see someone dumping 100M worth of junk into this. It isn't that expensive to buy armies.

Although this is a nice thing for those small-medium piles of junk we all accumulate every now and then.

But is it worth it, for a poor reward and time spent playing a minigame which frankly gets boring after 3 matches against opponents using the same strat? I'd prefer to sell or alch my steel plates.

Well personally i guess this is just a little start...

I think they will slowly make more ways to get rid of all that junk that is in the game... But then i again it is just a thought...

It's a very little start. Take a previous attempt, flatpacks thorugh diaries. What is it, 10% of the ge value? A pittance compared to what it could get you for renting out items, or what you could get for it from friends. If there is an easier option out there, people will take it. With such average rewards and the time it takes actually playing the game, this won't have much of a dent at all. Especially with the styles of play that are so prevelant.

I can't see this gettin' rid of junk trade...

I got rid of like 300 off Maple Long (u) and 200 rune nails and couple other random stuff, ended with like 130k points...

Plus the soldiers are pretty cheap...

And you'd only play the game till you got enough rewards, plenty of junk in the bank still...

It'll get rid of some junk, not alot though.

If you're buying special units every round, that's upwards of 5k every round, plus 500 to replace your troops. I had around 220k and now it's down to 150K and I only gained 28 rank. Now remember that there's multiple hundreds of ranks. Lots of junk needs to be poured into this game.

In the basement you can only enchant up to gold rings. In the knowledge base it says the highest ring is an onyx ring. There has to be a lot more floors up there for you to buy rewards on then. I bet the rewards there will be a lot better then in the basement.

Exactly, moneywise, you might as well drop the junk if your going to use it in MA. Maybe I have not been doing something right, but the tin and cabbage seed rewards aren't likely to get you your money back. Also, you can only put in 500k worth at a time.

This could either turn out to be a great way of removing junk or an poor-average one. It all depends really on what the higher level resource rewards are like. If the rewards are either not worth the time or not worth the investment then it will unfortunately be the latter case, but you never know, Jagex could surprise us on this one.

And I do agree that the first scenario is boring, but we haven't even been able to try the other three due to bugs. The other three will no doubt prove more interesting.

But if I am ever going to play MA again, one thing Jagex is going to have to fix is the waiting room system. Good god, a trained monkey could have come up with a better system. I absolutely hate it. -.-

The only rough thing is, you have to 'pay to play'. It's somewhere around 10k a game I think.

I'm not a fan of that :|

You only have to pay 1k for the troops.

Asumming you loose all your troops, it only costs 500 points to re-supply them under "Manage", and to get 5 of the highest things is 6k, making it only cost 6.5k per game, that's cheaper then most games of Castle Wars for me

Correct me if im wrong but don't you actually make credits or money after the battle is over. I know i have only turned in 18 steal arrows and im gaining money/credits after each battle.

you gain reward points and rank after each battle, yiou gain commodity points by "investing" items.

I say they make the soldiers more expensive, though this may just be a brick in a building.

well as people gets rewarded for winning, maybe it can be seen as Jagex "transfering" junk to useable stuff... and yea it is only a brick in a building, but all in all i think that it is a good start tbh...

It's really, really expensive in terms of investment points.

 I like it. I have almost a hundred free bankspaces (yes I had that much crap littering my bank) now and it's making me want to go do some more craftng because coifs are 101 i. points each. And I need an excuse to go play stealing creation anyway.

Balance may be power, but chaos is still pretty damn fun.
