Better stay off my w166 too was going to go solo some TDS but not worth the risk now, it's not the TDS I fear. Basically a friends sat in the chat listening in, he says one or two guys (he thinks) are doing it and IRC Admins keep closing the channel down for heavy traffic alot of users in those channels, just spamming !World (then the number) just to see if what they are doing is real, It could be a total and utter coincidence though. They could just know the ISP that is having problems and the worlds connected to that ISP. Either way it's a bad deal and if they are being DDOS's I'd like to see then prosecuted to the full extent of the law considering Jagex is asking for compensation from the ISP right now. Today I was in w65, one of the new 1 item saving bh worlds, and it crashed at least 4 times in an hour, starting with extreme lag and then disconneting or immovability of your character. It might not be DDOSing because as MMG said it may be caused by flaws with the 3rd party servers. They'd have to rollback the servers from before this started which was around 18 hours ago. Thats a lot of XP lost for people and most people weren't effected by any monetary lose. I can't remember a time Jagex did a rollback on purpose, I do however remember atleast 3 rollbacks due to technical problems. This is costing thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of pounds for Jagex and their ISP company. They are able to do them easily, and I believe on the last one they were forced to roll back over 10 hours which they did not want, so now they have it save the game data every hour or so, instead of once a day. If that is the case, it wont stop really until the "Hacker(s)" get bored. Whoever it is though, must be pretty advanced to have a botnet big enough take out servers of that size. It's just best to not do anything to dangerous for a little while and don't take it out on Jagex. If this IS a DDOS attack then I FULLY expect Jagex to hunt these people down and hit them with the full force of the legal system. The sad part is, with a DDOS Botnet, its VERY VERY difficult to find the original culprit, as they are using a network to send their attacks and not from one specific IP. So it's pretty difficult to trace. 30 seconds later I couldnt move and eventually got logged NPCS around me moving fine.. They would be jamming up the input part of the servers making you disconnect, but the output is working fine, so NPC movement and other "natural server" output would work fine, until you disconnect. So it's pretty difficult to trace. I have the IRC channel name, So if the IRC Keeps logs, I'll gladly pass the IRC channel name onto JaGeX, so the people responsible can be dealt with. The resources and time needed don't match up with someone saying, "OK, I'm going to knock this server down now," with an instant server outage. It just wouldn't happen. I would have to agree with some previous posters that it's more likely a botnet, if anything is actually happening at all. It's more likely some sort of botnet, or a POD (Ping of Death) attack. If they are actually doing it from the US, then taking down a server based in the US is grounds for prosecution, regardless of where the HQ of the company resides.
