What movie(s) did you last see?

Strictly Ballroom - My cat died yesterday, he was old and very sick, so I had to take him to the vet, which was rather traumatizing. So, after I had put away all his stuff and packed his food to take home for my mother's cat, I sat myself down on the couch and watched Strictly Ballroom, the first in the so-called Red Curtain Trilogy by Luhrmann. Visually, this film is a lot less overwhelming than either Romeo + Juliet or Moulin Rouge, but it's still my absolute favourite of the three. Without pretention, Luhrmann tells a little, touching, but also exceedingly funny romantic tale. I've seen this one over and over again ever since I saw it on TV when I was 10, and I'll keep on seeing it to rally my spirits when I'm under a blanket, in my couch, blubbering about something.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

This film was featured in a local film festival, so I couldn't pass up the chance to see this.

A pair of Holocaust survivors (about which a different Holocaust movie was made about) were there to give a talk, so it got pretty emotional.

but about the movie- I'd give it an 8.5/10.

It shows WW2 and the Holocaust from the view of a young German child, son of a high-ranking Nazi officer, so it's definitely a different viewpoint than other similar movies.

There is a sense of innocence throughout the movie, even as the world is crumbling around the boy's family.

I'd highly recommend watching it, even more so if you haven't seen a Holocaust movie before.

Why did you not like Wall-E?

He loves the Dark Knight. He likes BIG BOOMS AND LOLZ

I saw Almost Famous. Love this movie.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I liked the Dark Knight as well as Wall-E. :?

The Dark Knight: I managed to see an hour before i turned it off.

The Bank Job: Good movie! A bit slow in the beginning maybe, but i liked it.

Transporter (1,2,3): 1 and 2 were pretty good but the third one was quite crappy.

Rock'n'Rolla: Good movie, perhaps a bit slow and hard to understand in the beginning, but good nevertheless.

Wall-E: I seldom watch computer-animated movies, but this one was good i must say. Quite fun!

Death Race: Quite crappy, but i saw the whole thing.

Quantum of Solace: Was ok, not bad but not good either. Where are all the classic ingredients?!

You Don't Mess With The Zohan: Was really fun to watch!

If... (1968) - was pretty boring.

Les ordres (1974) - very good, albeit a little slow.

How the hell can you say If... was boring?!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063850/

we are talking about the same If..., right?

[edit]I mean, pff, it's possible that you don't like it. And if you want to I bet you could find a flew flaws. But you just can't say this movie is boring. I'm shocked!

Yesterday I saw..

Missing which is a petty daring film. Jack Lemmon is wonderfull here, he's using his old tricks in a perfect way with a role that is much different to his earlier work. I also love Sissy Spacek. There are some very powerfull shots in this movie, and what an opening shot! Brilliant. Also the atmosphere in the first 20/25 minutes of the movie is pretty intense.

the Killers Man! I was surprised by this movie. I expected a real tough action movie, what I got was a melo-drama with some small bursts of extreme violence, a combination you don't see every day. The film was originaly made for t.v. but because of the violence it was released in cinema instead of t.v. Which really shows, the sets look as if they can collapse if you touch them with one finger, the process shots are really cheap and some of the acting is not done. But as happens more with melo-drama this only adds to the fun. Great supporting roles by Ronald Reagan (as a bad guy  ) and Clu Culager. Lee Marvin is absolutely brilliant though. He's such a wonderfull person, especially the last five minutes of the film. He's so tall and lean, and his shoes are wonderfull.

Friday the 13th (2009) Hmm, I loved it. It's exciting, funny, cool kills, some boobs. Everything a man wants.

the Curious case of Benjamin Button This movie was also what I expected it to be. Horrible. It's nothing more than a cheap trick to win a lot of those golden statues. Creativity is banned from Benjamin Button. I can't believe people still fall for this [cabbage].

Step Brothers - was really funny but will ferrell has made better movies

Saw - not bad, ive only seen 3 and i think this is a better movie in general, not just a 90min gorefest

Yesterday I received my first blu-ray, An American in Paris. A friend gave it to me with his take 3 get 4 warner coupons. So. I received that blu-ray. Sadly I don't have a blu-ray player. My friend Ralph does have a playstation 3, and he loves musicals. So..I went to see Ralph, and we had a great evening. A musical evening, a Vincente Minnelli evening and a blu-ray evening. We started out with An American in Paris, which was brilliant. It has got the best 17 minutes in celluloid hitstory, at least, that's what I think at this moment. Lots of other good songs as well. 12 cans of beer and some bacos later we saw Gigi, also on blu-ray. It was a bit of a dissapointment. I mean, it has perfect art-direction etc. but what I like so much about Minnelli's movies is that his camera swirls in such a beautiful way, especially with the dances, but the camera in this movie is pretty static. I also didn't really like the cynic undertone in this movie, I prefer the over the top happyness of Gene Kelly. Maurice Chevalier was brilliant though. But I always love him so that wasn't a surprise.

The last movie I saw was... High School Musical 3! \'

Bought it on DVD yesterday lol. Personally I love the HSM films - they're funny and have catchy songs. A lot of people don't share that opinion though. :P High School Musical 3 was paticularly good, although it's the last film with the current cast in it which is a bit sad. Like with everything, the original cast aren't replacable in my opinion.

I've read the book of that at school - after reading it I felt really strange, it had really effected me. It was such a sad and emotional book, I hope to see the film of it soon.

I last saw Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Was an interesting look into the beginning of the previous films, but I think the other two films worked better than this one. :)

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

RIP Michaelangelopolous

just watched Growing Op

definitely recommended was a fun watch

if it counts for anything, I just re-read the script for Tarantino's new movie, and if the movie is half as good as what I imagined it to be, it'll be his best movie yet.

I'm half-watching Iron Man. Not sure what's happening plotwise really. Just watching for the big exploshunz.

Pretty intresting.

But i really really wanted to knock out; the guy who broke up with a girl right after they "did it", the [bleep]es who mailed around a naked picture of a girl in the school+tp'ing and spraying a guys house.

Oh dear, Old Joe. That movie is relatively accurate, but ridiculously overdramatized. Girls here break up with guys because they heard from their best friend's aunt's sister's daughter's boyfriend's cousin that he isn't good in bed.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Slumdog Millionaire - it definitely lives up to all the hype surrounding it, and if it doesn't win Best Picture, i'll be quite annoyed
