Stealing Creation - Do you earn your own clay?

XxTearGodxX

My stealing creation game insists of finding the highest level rock, turning the clay into arrows and depositing.

Usually that lands me with 4 awards, which is confusing as im definatly not the best player out there

when i play SC i usually just get and make my own tools, but when i am harvesting level 5 resorces i usually give someone who can make lvl 5 tools a peice of clay in exchange for the tool.

so yes, i do get my own clay, but sometimes i need help with the tools.

I dont give out any clay to any non-friends... Means more for me (and thus more SC points to spend) :)

This is the problem with the perception of SC.

Giving clay to other people speeds up the game and INCREASES THE REWARD POINTS YOU CAN GET IN ONE HOUR.

I'm one of those people who uses rag tools to gather a lvl3 tool and then up to lvl5, so I'm usually one of the first with a lvl5 tool (oftentimes by 18:30-18:00). Letting people pickpocket/giving them your clay will make the resources exhaust faster.

Let's say in a 20-player game, three people are at the c5 asking for clay, and you oblige all of them. You just cut out four minutes of time between the three that they were just groveling for clay, and the c5 is dead by 16:00. The game takes a total of 11 minutes, meaning you finish roughly 4.6 games per hour accounting for the 2-minute wait time. If you gain 29000 points per game, you end up with 22 reward points. This translates to ~101 points per hour. (Note that adding 10% to this number does not change the number of reward points.)

Now, let's say in a 20-player game, three people are at the c5 asking for clay, and you oblige none of them. These people are standing around the c5 waiting for the clay, and it takes them an extremely long amount of time to get any. Because none of them get any clay until 15:30 left in the game, the c5 is not dead until 12:30 left in the game, and the game takes 14 minutes instead, which means you finish roughly 3.8 games in an hour accounting for the same 2-minute wait time. Even if you double your score to 58000 points per game due to having the c5 to yourself longer, you only gain 24 reward points per game, adding up to ~91 points per hour. (Note once again that adding 10% to this number does not change the number of reward points.)

You managed to score double the amount of clay in the second game, and yet you're getting rewards 10% slower since you don't share. It's really as simple as getting everybody to work somewhere, simultaneously.

Efficiency is key, as I always say.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I gave up going for points in SC a loooooong time ago. Now, all I do is work my way up to C5 whatever (I can collect it all and make anything except c5 potions and runes), make a c5 dagger and maybe 20 barriers, "claim" as many resource/kiln spots as I have barriers for (preferably ones the enemy is using) and then 1-item for the rest of the game (I also have 99 mage and ancients for when I manage to get some runes  ). It's much much much funner this way and I still get 15-20 points per game (I think I have about 35 sc tools in the bank and almost 1800 points). People get really mad at me from time to time (well, almost every time, really  ), but, well, that's their problem.

If someone asks for c5 clay/whatever, I give it to them because, put simply, I really don't give a crap about points, but, again, I might just be crazy (it's either that or I'm playing the game for fun because I'm planning on retiring once MechScape finally comes out).

Well, in normal SC games, going for points is a complete crapshoot. I've scored as high as 142000 before (SO close to 146), and as low as 9000, with all relevant noncombat skills 80+.

In skill games, clay gifting/pickpoketing can influence the outcome a lot more, though (especially as the size of the game decreases).

I've only played normal SC yet, but I always get my clay on my own (though I start at a c4 object). I always give out clay if I already have the tool for anyone who asks or to everyone around if I get the first clay...

It's a team game, so the earlier your team starts the real gathering, the better for you.

If I'm trying to get a C4 clay from a C4 rock with my C1 pickaxe, and I see somebody else mining the same rock with a C4 pickaxe, I'll just ask him to give me one clay. It only takes 1 extra second of his time...

Yes, to speed up the process of getting decent equipment to gather your own clay. That's efficient. Though I will not help people who are too lazy to get their own clay and generally screw around and don't contribute anything to the team.

I usually get my own stuff up to what I can actually salvage, and then if people ask for some I usually give them one so they can then go gather their own stuff.

I don't give people clay if they beg for it, but if I see them struggling to get some after I get a full load, I will if it is Class 4, otherwise I'll give out class-2 and 3.

Some guy said "NEED AXE" while we were at a tree (duh) and I gave him my class-2 axe as I just got a class-3 or 4, can't remember, and he said "WTF, I don't want this junk" and dropped it. Last time I ever help anyone that bgs :shame:

Every game the vast majority of idiots flock to the level 4/5 stuff.

You're supposed to grab the fragments then find a 2/3 resource and use your level 1 tool, then find a level 4/5 resource with your level 2/3 tool.

It saves about 3-5 minutes (no joke) by working your way up instead of hoping to strike gold, figuratively speaking.

In all honesty if I see my teammates doing that I have already resigned myself to a lost game.

Whats a Fast SC game? Is it like 50-50 in GOP? If so :shame:

Basically, there's no combat, pickpocketing or barriers in the game. Both teams work together to exhaust all the clay which forces the game to end. This usually takes about 11-13 mins so faster games=faster points.

and what's wrong with 50/50 gop

I usually try to get my own but most of the time, everyone helps out and shares.

Exactly how it should be done. I hate it when only I seem to do this, then beggars flock for the clay that I obtained. -.-

I collect all my own clay unless the Class 5 stuff is a swarm or rock, then i will ask for a few bits of clay to get a decent piece of equipment and summon.

And a quick question because i havent used any of my points yet, How many planks does a hammer last? And How many bars does a hammer last? :)

Morphic hammers will double up to 25375 construction xp or 32000 smithing xp.

(Total xp per hammer using oak dungeon doors (430 planks) is 51175, oak larders (424 planks) 50815.)
