Blake
I heard they aren't very durable either. I just have the $15 skullcandy in-ears. I've had them over a year, using them maybe 2 hours a day with no problems. Good sound canceling and awesome bass
Varda
I'm having a headphone dilemma. I've get through a cheap pair of headphones every 4 - 5 months. (£5 - £7) I always buy Sony or the leading brand. But the thing is i've got through about 5 or 6 pairs of these over the last few years and i wondered if it's a better investment buying an expensive pair. (in ear) As long as there is decent sound quality and bass in my opinion there's not much difference in a £20 set of earphones to a top of the range £100 pair (for all extensive individual purposes) My existing pairs break because of loose connection at the jack (2.5mm), so after a while have the be wiggled about to work properly, and when you listen on the go (like i do) they subsequently go very quickly) Does the extra money you pay in price provide extra thick/strong/reliable connections/physical + built quality or just better sound quality. Thought this would be better here than tech and computers... Cheers!! http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=5692Works excellent for me, I paid about 750nok (£80) for them. Very good sound, and blocks out the noise nicely. Worth the £80. Etc etc. Read the reviews on the link. :P Oh btw.. You can drive over them, and they still will look nice and still work. Johannas
Thanks for ideas guys but never really answered my question, i'm not after brilliant sound quality - just something that will last for a long time. Is the connection and wire thickness/quality the same between the different price ranges basically (i'm sure there's more to it than wire thickness but you get what i mean) Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig! You get what you pay for. You pay for £80 for a pair of headphones, they will last for a long time. Also, your hearing is important, with noise cancelling/isolation, you won't damage your ears with turning the volume way up to block out other sounds. I've got a pair of Sennheiser somethings I've had for close to 8 months, with the right angle jack, whereas I would've went through several pairs of straight-jack Skull Candy in the same time frame. Good sound canceling and awesome bass :thumbup:Awesome bass? Really? My friend gave me his pair of Skullcandy in-ears because he hated them, I never even use them because the bass is so bad. The standard iPod ones are like 10x better.

I used to go through sooo many pairs because I used to treat my headphones horribly. i.e I would just throw them into my school bag and let them get crushed by books. Or I would constantly wind them around my mp3 player too tightly. Now I treat them like a child and I don't go through that many headphones. 8,180WONGTONG IS THE BEST AND IS MORE SUPERIOR THAN ME#1 Wongtong stalker.Im looking for some No Limit soldiers! In ear, over ear, speakers, etc. They're expensive, but my brother has a pair and says they're worth the money.LOOOOOL. For cheap in-ear headphones, I have Sennheiser MX270s which are £7 and last a long time (have had mine since last November). However they are 3.5mm so you'll need a converter. I will put my boots on. I will pass on down the corridor.
TTanT
My girlfriend has depression. She's usually fine around me, as I'm glad I can say that my presence tends to cheer her up. (Or if my presence isn't enough alone, I add in words to help.) However, I can't be around her always. Her parents have been treating her like crap recently. Her dad mentally abuses (and sometimes physically abuses) both ehr sisters, and screams at her often for things like having an 84 on a math exam, or sitting in the wrong chair. Her mom isn't abusive, but is bullied by her husband, and suffers from depression also. So when she's depressed she can be quite bitter towards her daughters as well. She has purposefully hrut ehrself ebfore to relieve the tension. Either digging finegrnails into ehr tempels or hands, or taking burning hot shwoers to sear her skin. In French class yesterday she suddenly started feeling horrible (she doesn't know why) and pinched the tips of her fingers as hard as she could. SHe felt really bad in French class again today, as well. She obviously can't get therapy, as her parents are the cause and she can't go up and tell them that they're doing this to her. (Her mom is a social worker so she might get it, but she might just get defensive, and her father would probably kick her out of the house, which he has done once before.*) *She refused and ran upstairs, and so he hit her instead. Oh, and she's 15 this November. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. Oh, and she's 15 this November.I don't know the whole situation, but if it's as bad as it sounds, she can't stay in that environment. You probably have guidance counselors at your school, go in with her and have her talk to them. The dad sounds like a real ass. Depending on the extent of the abuse, he could have a serious legal problem on his hands. The only solution to this problem is to remove her from this environment. It seems the father is the cause of the issues, so really you just need to get rid of him. It sounds extreme, but if the guidance counselors think it's a good idea, this should be brought to the attention of the police. A situation like this will continue to spiral out of control if you don't change it, in both the physical dangers at home and the mental issues. TTanT
But how do I do that? I mean, her aprents have spoken of divorce, but ehr dad always talks her mom out of it. Saying the kdis need two parents. And I doubt she'd be willing to rip her household apart like that, either.I'll talk to her about it, though. (By the way, the last time ehr dad hit her was several years ago, he currently only hits her sisters, generally for things like crying.)Oh, and her mom only knows about all of this through her oldest daughter (the 15 year old) as she works days and the dad works nights. She does have a clsoe family though. Grandparents she visits often, and a pelthora of uncles, cousins, etc, so I guess if worst came to worst, she could find a new home easily. But I just wish I could find a way into talking her mom into making a stand (ignoring the fact that she doesn't know that I know about all of this). After all, a clean cut divorce would probably be the easiest way to save them. (I'm referring to the two younger sisters here, as Amber has support from non-family members to keep ehr going, but 5 and 3 years olds don't.) And I'm sorry if I rambled a bit with this psot, as I've taken to making these posts right before going to sleep. It helps me vent, if you will. K4ylan
I understand that you want to keep the household together, but that seems to be doing more harm than good. Either way, there will be a lot of drama and hard times, but in the end everyone will appreciate you/the mother/anyone else who takes a stand. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~
Guest Rob
TTanT: What rocco said. Make sure the situation is exactly as she describes it. (Like Rocco, I'm not calling her an attention-[bleep], I don't even know her.) If it's as it seems, I would suggest calling the police. If he's violent on a regular basis, he could still get more violent. It'd be a good idea to get her parents some counselling, it might even keep their marriage together without the abuse. But I doubt the abuse will stop on its own, especially if it's physical and mental abuse to more than one person. If you think it's severe (which, it sounds like) you may want to bring the police into the situation.

You need to realize how much fun you could be having. You're a teenager, right? Now, I assume you know that studies are no rule to live by, but I've read of one that surveys people of different ages, incomes, etc. regarding their perceived happiness. It increases until you hit the 18 year old mark, and then steadily decreases until you hit 50, then it climbs back up. You won't be young for your whole life. I know you hear this type of maxim all the time, they come in through one ear and go right out of the other. They're still almost universally true.
