It's been about a year since Tip.It had one of these threads, so let's kick off the new forums with a good ol' personality test thread.

 

According to every test I've ever taken, I'm an INTP, the "Architect" from the Rational group. Famous people with my personality type include Albert Einstein, Rene Descartes, Charles Darwin, C.G. Jung, Isaac Newton, Socrates, and Abraham Lincoln. (god my ego is inflating)

 

INTP types are quiet, thoughtful, analytical individuals who enjoy spending long periods of time on their own, working through problems and forming solutions. They are curious about systems and how things work. Consequently, they are frequently found in careers such as science, architecture, and law. INTPs tend to be less at ease in social situations or in the "caring professions," although they enjoy the company of those who share their interests. They also tend to be impatient with the bureaucracy, rigid hierarchies, and the politics prevalent in many professions. They prefer to work informally with others as equals.

 

INTPs organize their understanding of any topic by articulating principles, and they are especially drawn to theoretical constructs. Having articulated these principles for themselves, they can demonstrate remarkable skill in explaining complex ideas to others in simple terms, especially in writing. On the other hand, their ability to grasp complexity may also lead them to provide overly detailed explanations of "simple" ideas, and listeners may judge that the INTP makes things more difficult than they are. To the INTP, however, this is incomprehensible: They are merely presenting all the information.

 

Given their independent nature, INTPs may prefer working alone to leading or following in a group. During interactions with others, if INTPs are focused on gathering information, they may seem oblivious, aloof, or even rebellious—when in fact they are concentrating on listening and understanding. However, INTPs' extraverted intuition often gives them a quick wit, especially with language. They may defuse tension through comical observations and references. They can be charming, even in their quiet reserve, and are sometimes surprised by the high esteem in which their friends and colleagues hold them.

I recommend looking up the definition here on the wikipedia, they have some extremely accurate ones there, better than the definitions they usually pack with the test results. Mine was just about perfect.

Taken numerous times. I jump between ESFP and ENFP, that's the Performer and the Champion.

 

I'm more of an ESFP though.

I got ISTP. And, wow- Like, this is a really good description of me. There's very few and minor things I disagree with here.

ISTPs have a compelling drive to understand the way things work. They're good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. They typically have strong powers of reasoning, although they're not interested in theories or concepts unless they can see a practical application. They like to take things apart and see the way they work.

 

ISTPs have an adventuresome spirit. They are attracted to motorcycles, airplanes, sky diving, surfing, etc. They thrive on action, and are usually fearless. ISTPs are fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make their own decisions about their next step. They do not believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit their ability to "do their own thing". Their sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes ISTPs prone to becoming bored rather quickly.

Apparently I'm most suited to be along the lines of a Scientist, or a CEO of a company, even an Investment banker; All careers I've considered and would enjoy. I also dislike the majority of the jobs they listed I would dislike; and this is after 3 tests, I got the same result.

I'm confident that my test is accurate. I seem to fit the description when I think about the past 2-3 years of my schooling, gaming, etc. I also like factual information rather than theoretical descriptions of events. I'm officially spooked :lol:

 

On a cool note, I'd like to think that I'm effective at completing goals I set. For example, I set myself 3 goals at school to get A's in 3 or more subjects (selected subjects were science, social studies and cathtech), and I did through hard work and perceverence. The same can be said for my Runescape goals (not a great comparison but you'll see what I mean); I've achieved so much in 3 months, most people would only achieve in a year. That is; two 99's, and I'm already starting on all skills to 70+. I'm hoping to finish that one sometime next year.

Edit: Reading the wikipedia description is like reading a description about me. Amazingly accurate. Then again it makes me wonder if I'm exactly like 3.3% of the population.

 

Personality tests are very much like horoscopes in the sense that they are written on the Barnum principle of appealing to as many people as possible within the reader base. If the respondent recognises some traits in himself, the 'tailored' result will attempt to re-inforce those thoughts.

 

You are your own self, that 3.3% includes people all the way from prison pedophiles to millionaire businessmen and kind philantrophists.
