The_Fray
I find it funny that people are sitting there comparing Canada to the USA when it was Boston vs Vancouver, but in reality it's mostly Canadian players that are making it happen for their teams. Yes, there's a lot of players from different countries, but I've found that the majority are usually Canadian. You can buy a player for a team, but they were still born in Canada.I agree the only place nationality matters is the Olympics. But it doesn't change the fact that no Canadian city has won since 93. Only 4 teams have made the finals since and they have all lost. Most Canadian teams have been stuck in mediocrity for so long that it is no surprise that the Americans have noticed our failures at the biggest stage in hockey. The fact that no Canadian city has celebrated winning a Cup in 17 years is really disheartening. Cup droughts:Habs 17 yearsOilers 20 years Flames 21 yearsLeafs 43 years The Canucks or Sens have yet to win the Cup. Not to mention teams like Nords or Jets who also played a couple of seasons post 93. Oh well I have been predicting that the Leafs will be the next Canadian city to win the Cup. We deserve it based on all the ridicule we have faced. Hopefully there is such a thing as Karma and we are rewarded with a Cup after all those years of ridicule we have faced at the hands of the hockey world. I wish the same efforts had been taken to save the Jets. The Coyotes have been bleeding money for ages now, you have to ask the question was it worth moving them from Winnipeg. I'm from Toronto and I'm actually lol'ing at the fact that you think the leafs will be the next Canadian city to win the cup. As to the riots in Vancouver, they were going to happen win or lose. "Fans" don't go downtown to watch a hockey game wielding something to accelerate a flame, they go there to cause a ruckus. I'm not even surprised it happened after all the speculation for weeks that one would happen if they lost. Boston had 17 Canadian players on their team. Just hoping its sooner rather than later. And I don't think it is at all ridiculous that I think the Leafs will be the one to break the drought. At the moment no team is close to being a contender except the Canucks who I think do not have it in them to win. I doubt a Canadian city will win the Cup at least for next 2-3 years and I do not see why the current Leafs cannot improve into something much better in that time frame. We have the right management, the right mindset, decent stock of prospects and somewhat reliable core. Actually the team that I think has the best chance to win it all in a few years time will be the Oilers who have been stocking their prospect pools for a while now. But I can always beleaf. :P
Tacos
Well, I live in Massachusetts and everyone is going wild about the win. The Bruins are having their victory parade in Boston on Saturday. Oddly enough, I'll be in Boston on Saturday. I'm definitely going to the parade. Now the Boston area teams (that matter, screw the Revolution) have all won at least 1 Final in the past 8 years. GO BRUINS!

Gandorf61
Win or lose there were a group of people who went downtown looking to cause trouble just for the sake of it. Why else would they bring the stuff to break windows, set cars on fire, etc? Then you have the thousands of other people downtown who instead of leaving, stick around to film everything that's happening which just adds more fuel to the problem. It's really sad when the majority of Canucks fans agree that what happened was disgusting but these few hundred trouble makers created such a bad image for Vancouver. If you want to know what the true fans are like it would be better to search up "Vancouver post riot cleanup". I just don't like seeing Vancouver get this bad reputation when it is such a beautiful place the rest of the time. :/ Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig! To be honest if the leafs were in that situation it would be 10x worse. How do you figure? Leafs fans have never had a history with rioting. When we lost in the Conference Finals against LA in 93, there was no rioting. Sure there was the trashing of the Fraser family lawn but hardly anything close to a riot. If Leafs fans took part in rioting, we would have done it in 93 especially when we got screwed over by Kerry Fraser. Meanwhile in 94 when the Canucks lost in a Game 7, there was a riot. Do not assume just because it has happened in Van City or Montreal it will happen in Toronto. Also Ottawa, Edmonton and Calgary have all lost Stanley Cup Finals, yet we haven't heard of riots over there.
obfuscator
I find it hard to believe we wouldn't riot if in the same situation. I do not think this will happen in Toronto, most importantly the police in Toronto will be far better prepared for the possibilities than Vancouver was. obfuscator
Game 7 wasn't in toronto, different situation. It was also only twenty years after a cup win and not the scf, not to mention you're not looking at the same people twenty years ago. Today's youth are much more idiotic as far as I can tell. So, I guess they were still idiotic back then. I can't really say much about riots in Toronto, though. We'll have to wait and see on that one. I actually agree that it's kind of sad to see us riot over a hockey game... but I also find it somewhat amusing that we did.
