3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion

Just an update for everyone......

More and more partyhats seem to be selling in person these days. There is currently a lot in circulation for herblaw supplies; however, they are being traded for insane amounts of herblaw supplies so the general public demand will not be hurt too badly. Currently the lower three partyhats are teeter tottering and with a release of another money sink skill or incentive to train one they will most likely crash. The top two partyhats seem pretty strong while the status of red is debatable currently and only time will tell. Don't expect a blue or white crash for awhile even if they release incentives to train money sink skills. I think it will take a whole new money sink to crash these and even then it might not happen. If you want to check out my prediction about what will happen when/if partyhats crash it's on page 62 near the end of the page.

Masks don't seem to be doing too well right now, but it's not very bad nor is it minor. Santas are currently decent but the buyout isn't strong; so don't expect it to last very long.

Third age is basically the same with range, melee, and range tops and bottoms being the hardest to get with of course the melee plate and legs being the hardest to buy out of that set. The other pieces are mid-max depending on the time of day. Expect to wait over a day if you have an offer in for melee plate and legs.

Pumpkins dropped 10-15M in street today so they aren't as hot as they were a few days ago but, they are still pretty darn good for their market price. Disks, easters, half wines, and crackers remain the same street as they have been for the past few weeks.

I'm looking on the website GE, and it shows pumpkins 23.3 mil, ur previous post said 150 mil? The date is 7th October 2009 on ur post, so I'm not quite sure where you got these figures from.

Elucin8er, the majority of rares are higher in street value then they are in the grand exchange. Clans have these items 'bought out" which means they control the majority of the item. Making their Price naturally go up. Since there are so few of these items left in the game they are rarely traded in the GE which means the GE price lags behind the perceived 'street price'.

OTM basically summed it up. Welcome to the world of unbuyable items, unsellable items, and street prices that differ widely from their GE price. O I mean......Welcome to Runescape.

From listening to friends in TeamSpeak and running through the GE for a minute on world 2 it look as if the AGS' crash was short lived. Apparently everyone is buying AGS' for max because they wanna see their new max hit. Highest I saw on w2 was 104M for one...

I know this is kinda off topic, but what is the status of gold ore? Everyone is saying to smith gold right now because its less than 5gp/exp loss... I have been tempted to buy 88 smithing but I put in an offer for mid and got nothing.

peace,

Vann

I have only really been getting back in to the game again in the last few months, considering selling my yellow p hat. Im going to need a fair bit of junk to get the max street price aren't I? Any suggestions on the best way to go about selling in the current market?

how about you just keep it and wait for the right time to sell? if you want to accumulate junk, you'll only waste time.

Also, i wouldn't recommend going back to rs with all this lag/inflation/tricking going on.

Yeah thats the tricky bit, i've been holding off for the last couple of months while I mainly trained my herblore/prayer/farming up but runnning out of $$$ now. Thinking 90+ in each would be nice, so considering selling off some rares. Phat just seemed like the easiest option, but might be smarter to just sell off a mask or santa for now if phats are still rising steadily. Problem being that im not really gaining any junk in what im training...

The majority of people who sell their partyhats these days regret doing so. Sell off the masks if you can as they are falling. You could always switch to a money making skill instead of sell off your rares. If you really don't feel attached to your hat wait until the pre-crash era and sell.

Bandos started rising today again too, it's not selling for mid.

On the forums I saw Kingduffy 1 selling a divine for wyvern bones, with 200k being the a/w. Whats so special about wyvern bones?

It's now used for making extreme prayer potions.

When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.

Thanks for the advice

I know what you mean about selling a party hat and regretting it, been there done that, so while not totally attached to the yellow I guess it probably would be smarter to sell of rares that im not attached to (Also can't see how I will ever raise that $$$ of junk sans getting 99 in something). Curiousity, what is the difference between street/GE price at the moment?

Not really an option to switch to a money-making skill, since returning I have just been building my charms so now ready to start on 1-70 summoning. Hadn't realised masks had dropped so much recently, i'll just sell of some barrow sets for now and use that I guess. When I do decide to offload some masks, is it right to just throw them on the GE at max?

Also, do Santas still rise in December?

Thanks all :)

Yeah I have noticed it doesn't really seem to be in such a great way anymore, and it's even more of a game of grinding now. GE seemed interesting at first, but it has removed so much personal contact in the game and the price manipulation is frustrating to say the least. In saying that, since training seems so much ridiculously easier than before - especially if you have the money to use the fastest method - it's somewhat tempting to think what could be done with a spare few hundred mil...

Only get to play for an hour or two after work each night, so more motivation to be powertraining than making money. I worked hard before to get it, now may as well just enjoy it...

This isn't techincally about 3rd age/rares etc, but considering the recent convo in here about the GE I'll post this here.

I've been experimenting and failing to undertsand how the GE works, but today I put in 4 identical offers one straight after the other to buy 100clean ranarrs. Obviously they're bought out atm, so none bought, but a couple of mins later I got the offers updated message, so checked it and each of the offers have bought 2 herbs each.

Does this mean that the GE shares out what is sold amongst all the "buying" offers? Or is this just a coincedence?

Hope that made sense.

It's been that way since the beginning of the GE. If you have more than one more offer on something it will split whatever is sold to you (in this case 8) over the amount of offers you have. It also increases your chance of getting sold to as you have a better chance of getting lucky with the offer.

Quick reply, thanks.

So does that mean, if I only had 1 offer in would I have got all 8, or just 2?

I would say the GE jumps offer to offer 1 sale at a time, so probably more than 2 but less than 8.

I noticed this too, buying irit and avantoe seeds. It's more fair, if that's what's happening.

It appears that santas and H'weens have turned around. After lurking W1 for a while there were around 5-10 people buying for pure cash and a couple offering cash for Santa/Hween + up to 2M junk. No one was selling. I also put an offer in the GE for santa at 26.0M (50k above med) and did not get one.

Oh, and to the last few posts. I think that the GE is fairly random for items that are traded in the thousands per day. So if you put an offer in you have a % chance of the next seller selling to you. The longer your offer is in the higher your % chance of getting that item is. Then because all your offers were in at the same time they all had the same % chance of getting the herb so you got a few herbs in each offer.

I'd just like to throw out some information about Spectral. Three days ago I couldn't get one for max (like 106.7M or so). Two days ago I bought one in the GE for 103M, today I am seeing offers on the RSOF, people offering 110M cash to buy. Sup with that?

The biggest factor is the time of day. At different times of day there is less/higher demand/supply for an item. So that could have played with the fact that you got it so cheap. Or....after the first major spectral dump they have never been able to successfully buy them out for more than few hours-day again. Many small clans attempt to buy them out weekly but underestimate how many are out there. With the majority of the big time merchants busy with rares and sometimes 3rd age they have no time or money to mess with hard to buyout items. If you want a spectral or arcane for keeps you can buy one once you feel they are worth it. If you're looking to merchant it you need to stay away from them as they are too unstable and radical.

neither is a good choice into purchasing those shields. afaik, spec/arc does like 20% less than dfs and the effect can hardly do better then 5m+ items.

this is only my opinion. to cite, i tried spec before.

also, is anyone aware of the mask prices? something tells me that those masks are going to skyrocket. they're more accessible to buyout compared to santas.

I've owned all four of the shields at one time or other and I'd have to agree. Spectral is just not worth it because I'm not avid Kree'ara killer. Arcane however is just fantastic for avid castle wars player or a smart PvPer.

Masks seem to have gotten bought out yet again, however I don't see them as having much potential as the public basically controls the majority of the supply and demand. Time will tell though.

Not Specifically Related to High level items. But it appears Jagex have taken their first step in de-manipulation of certain items. The question is how often will Jagex now intervene and say an item is "to expensive" before they reset the price.

This is just one item today that has been manually changed.
