Heh, I actually laughed when I saw this! :P

Reminds me of a previous game played, with Exp 'hours', gaining double experience within those specified hours - like they said, it's not a new idea.

I do find it odd though - doesn't exactly seem like a 'Runescape' feature, not something that I would of expected Jagex to do. I'm wondering too if they're going to try and do some sort of publicity stunt for the new skill during the weekend. Still, it is nice to see that they're trying new things!

TBH, this looked suspicious, especially the link to the RS login page, but I did find it on the RS home page.

I copied the links directly from the newspost, the one I think you're talking about is for the newsletter so it's probably a good guess that you'd need to log in. But then again I'm not forcing you to click it.

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

Poh Alters dont work, sc tools dont work, barbarian horn doesnt work, anything that has a boosting effect on training doesnt work.

Farming/Herblore sound like good things here. :P

Maple Story has been doing events like this for as long as I remember, all servers were pretty much crowded anywhere you went.

Will be interesting to see how it goes in RS. Something tells me slayer will be impossible to train anywhere.

This must be the most stupid idea I have ever read about you having; at first I thought it was a joke. I hope you change your mind and dont release this.

EDIT: I'm sure it also will bring with it some bugs or can be used in some overpowered ways that you didn't think of. The whole idea is just stupid.

Sure, as I said it will surely be abused in ways you did*t think of, it will be unfair to those who cant play that weekend or for example just used up all their charms, there is no sensible reason to ban the use of xp-enhancing items, prices of items used to train certain skills such as prayer and herblore will surely skyrocket, people who would/should otherwise be doing other things during the weekend will feel forced to play during it, some might wait to train certain skills until the weekend and feel bored until then and then stressed, and surely many more things that I cant think of right now.

EDIT: This is in response to Emilee and Fnord.

I just thougth of one more thing, the servers will be overloaded and trainingspots hard to find which will just make people frustrated, and most the player will feel that doing stuff that doesn't give them xp, such as playing minigames or doing quests that it will be a waste of time and instead go skilling, even though they feels it's boring.

[bleep] YES CRAFTING

SUPER EXP HERE I COME

Lol im going to buy out dragonghides with what money i have in anticipation for this

Will sc needles stack with this?

SC Needles will NOT stack. You're better off training a skill without experience bonuses already in game.

*Puts offer for 550k Pure Essence and 20k Red Chins*

Still wont stop me. Ill be using the bonus exp untill it becomes more practical to use the sc needles :)

I'll be puchmaking like a mother****er.

Me as well. Would feel better getting more Blue Charms though so I don't run out. Are Gargoyles the best droppers or what else is? If anyone is planning on doing the same... you might wanna buy your seconds now. I just bought 2k Earth Talismans, but I'm sure they'll be bought out soon enough. Spirit Kyatts will probably be bought out too.

Does anyone know how many potions you can make an hour just adding seconds to unfinished? I just bought 10k crushed nests and 8k/10k toadflax so far. Im going to be cleaning and making them into unfinished before the weekend.

I'm just curious as i really have no idea and i'm unsure as to whether i should buy more or will i be into 1.1x xp by then and if so it's not worth it for me atm.

Yeah, from my experience Gargoyles always dropped a lot of Blue Charms. I still have around 1220 blues in bank because I was saving them for higher level training.

Still, I'm uneasy. It's hard not to think that they have some ulterior motive here.

Better buy now, while the items are still at low prices.

And train skills that are hard, expensive and nobody else can interfere. especially the ones that does not have any kind of boosting items, like herblore, farming etc.

I'm not really sure if bonus EXP periods are necessary for RuneScape, or rewarding for RuneScape players.

Maple Story players don't experience a backlash from the game economy during those events, since you just go to the NPC shops, buy thousands of potions and start killing. Not for RuneScape. If this becomes a regular event, RS players with too much cash on their hand might start hoarding items regularly in anticipation of the price rise. Plus, to me it feels like you would more or less accelerate your training slightly, but so is everyone else? So what's the point of that?

Am i the only one with a sneaky suspicion that they might release the new skill prior to this, so we can get it to a fair level close to release, and are not all having it -50 for a few weeks?

I doubt it, they tend to do the opposite, ie lamps, rewards ect cant be used on the new skill for the first couple of weeks. Cant see that changing.

We wanted to give people a chance to do training on existing skills before we launch the new one

<_< Watch me be right now and i will laugh at you all while you cry in humiliation  (Jokes)

I would suggest people get themselves ready at training spots prior to the weekend in question. If anybody is like me, they will end up wasting half an hour of bonuses just trying to figure out what equipment to take, and realising you have forgotten a single item that is un-buyable on the g.e.

Also if the graph is right, the curve shows exp decreasing rapidly after around 3 hours, and at around 6 hours you are at 1.1x. From my understanding, after 10 hours you return to regular exp am I right?

I see. However, the 2.7x really does not last long. You will be at around 2x after roughly 3 hours, 1.5x after 5, and around 1.2 after 8 hours.

I'd think that they limit you to 1.1x xp after 10 hours, so that it's still worth it to train, but not that much.

Off to buying seconds for summoning.... Hopefully I can get it done with about 2,5 multiplier, I think chinning spots will be too crowded, so perhaps herblore.... (Gotta get a higher level....)

Awesome idea....

But it takes a lot of planning....
