Me_Hate_Libs
<_< Watch me be right now and i will laugh at you all while you cry in humiliation  (Jokes) I would suggest people get themselves ready at training spots prior to the weekend in question. If anybody is like me, they will end up wasting half an hour of bonuses just trying to figure out what equipment to take, and realising you have forgotten a single item that is un-buyable on the g.e. Also if the graph is right, the curve shows exp decreasing rapidly after around 3 hours, and at around 6 hours you are at 1.1x. From my understanding, after 10 hours you return to regular exp am I right? Well, you get 1.1 after 10 so still not bad considering it's for free. I'm getting 83 Summoning, then I'm gathering Abyssal charms for making Lava Titans for that weekend. Then I'll go run the Agility Course. Ollyc3
Pretty nice E ~ Could we have a double merching profit weekend please 2376/2376 total achieved - May 2009 Retired Dec 2009
91soldin91
I'm probably gonna plant all of my trees and go check those right when I log in for 2.7x exp then train summoning the rest of the time. I'm glad I found this out now otherwise I would have to pay full price for 80 summoning (not to mention charms).
bored321
My plan so far First thing i'm doing is planting mages/palms and specials before the event. Then soon as i log in. Doing a quick run checking health on everything. (x2.7) should take less than 10 mins and give like 350k+ farm XP. then summoning will take about 2-3+ hours to get what through i have now that would leave me at around (x2) undecided here maybe a bit of herby here till x1.5 then off to slayer for the rest of the event. Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!
blakdragon39
Shame that I'm f2p for now. :( I hope this goes well and they decide to do more of these sometime! Sounds like a good idea to me. :D
Me_Hate_Libs
Actually the first thing I'll do is the Circus for that week. That'll be mad exp and it'll take like 5 minutes, then I go a Summoning. This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd. DarkDude
Personally don't like the idea of this at all and hope this is a once off and they won't do it again, although I doubt that. Ignoring the economic effects of this, which I imagine will have already started, two weeks prior to the event. It just seems unneeded and I personally don't see a single gameplay benefit from this at all. Complaining isn't going to do any good, but I find this whole idea appalling. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a flat 10% xp increase over the course of a weekend, that's not too bad. But 2.7x? even if it's only >2 for a few hours that's a huge impact it'll have on the game. Howlin0001
But but but but but but why...? We all like a little extra experience, but what the hell is this? Weekends are already crowded enough on the weekend, do they want extra people to log on? I want to know why they're doing this. Maybe I'm looking a gifthorse in the mouth, but this is completely out of left field. Maybe as a thank you for all the members? I wonder if it will work with Ectofungus or not?If it does work then I will get up some prayer and use my 1020 gold charms, 4078 green charms, 4536 crimson charms, 738 blue charms, 73 talon beast charms, 60 abyssal charms. Only problem is getting the seconds. :(
JoeDaStudd
I might on mass grind bones and collect ectoplasm.Definitely going to collect as many high level herbs and charms as possible, as I was just about to use nearly 1k of crimson charms last night.I might even bother getting those fire gloves as well, come to think about it I may as well get full lumberjack as those talon charms are going to be sick exp. Nice move by Jagex anyway.think about it this is a on perfect way to drain a lot of gp from the economy to counter the recent glitch and PvP drops. Amundogus2
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.... and I love you Jagex, but seriously? Okay, the only reasons they give against this being cheapening the current skills are: "It's only 10 hours". Well, that's like saying "Oh, I only killed 1 person, I didnt kill a 100, so thats okay then". And the second reason, "It'll give people who wants to reach their goal the oppurtunity to reach that goal". So that doesn't cheapen the efforts of those who did it with 1x xp? I'm disappointed by you Jagex. This is pointless. "There are only two strategies in war. Move forward or change. BloodAngel
As much as I think the idea is ridiculous and their reasonings for it even more so, I'll take advantage of it to get a load of Summoning and Farming xp. It does make it sound like the new skill is going to be time consuming and that the higher levels you have in skills the easier it will be for you to train it. Darkdude pretty much says my thoughts, I hope they don't do it again :-? "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
tortilliachp
I laughed hysterically when I read the post, and the FAQ's. After years of believing at least someone at Jagex HQ knew what they were doing, I now believe what happens to the game is completely based on luck of the draw. What were they thinking? rather, were they thinking? Higher level summoning seconds are already sold out. Merching clans are going to frolic, crash and burn. People will put their lives on hold, and runescape first, to ensure they make the most of the event. No, if I'm online that weekend, I'll runecraft. That's the only area of the game i feel experience should be boosted. I don't care about how i compare to others, my achievements are mine. I don't want to degrade my personal feeling of achievement by choosing the easiest way out: yes, i could save thousands of charms, and all those other things. Would the achievement feel the same? no way. I play for fun, not for a rank on a highscores list. I play for enjoyment, not for levels. Even with a new skill being released, I want to know I still have goals to accomplish, even after these two weeks of madness.

Its not really going to do much to the gameplay (part from overcrowding), but its certainly going to effect the flow of resources as well as costs. Unless you buy items now, your not really going to be gaining anything later when prices are twice their previous values. Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig! I MUST KILL THEM ARRRRGGGHHH :???: You have to do this every time for every update...? Anyway, I think the best way to use this time it's, like other player said, to plant many farming trees for the first minutes, then doing circus like me_hate_libs said, and finally, do all your summoning runs on that time, because if you think about it, summoning can only be trained at a specific time you decide, since it's not buyable and the drops are random, and what better time than with a bonus of 2.7x? Also herblore and constructions seems like good options too, herblore because it's about drops like summoning, but you can buy the herbs at any time, if you choose construction you just save a bunch of gp if you going for the xp. Well the only reason I think those updates are good, is if they are ment to fill gaps in skill lvls where the xp rate doesn't increase as you get higher lvls in the skill. For example updates like the Living Rock caverns, which ment that people no longer mined coal or granite all the way to 99 anymore. "There are only two strategies in war. Move forward or change. Ezz
I think it would be better for the economy if they made the bonus exp for resource skills only, and not buyables (eg. Fishing, Woodcutting, Runecrafting). Although that would somewhat mess with the economy as well and all the players in RuneScape would be concentrating on the resource skills causing lots of spots to be overfilled... Oh well, we'll see how it goes  [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.
Me_Hate_Libs
This is not a nice move. This is not some oversight in an update, this is not some correction to an update that people will complain about. This is a methodical, planned update that they have given the go ahead for. This is now, without any argument against it, a systematic shift of their game from what it was to what they want it to be. I'm just not sure what they want it be yet, but to be honest, it concerns me. If you like where all this is heading, it's great. If you don't, it's kind of scary. I myself am in the latter. mega_vegeta6
This event is really stupid. It doesn't fit in with RS. I see no incentive for them to do it. We never had one before, so nobody whined about getting an xp weekend. Guess what we'll hear for the next year. And The whole poin in giving extra exp is also really beyond me. People will whine that it's unfair, and besides, this really just "shortens" the time they might invest in rs, meaning less members. Players might get used to that exp rate and get bored with the "slow" exp, or getting too dependent on 2.7x rate. And even when they do give it, they don't make it a surprise. Everyone gets the same idea instantly, to flip/stock up on resources that will obviously rise to ridiculous prices. Merchanting clans will go nuts, buying all possible things out, making normal playing difficult for the following weeks. This way, you have to be on at the time of the announcment, the week preceding the weekend preparing f.ex. unf pots, and then the actual weekend when you'll have to no-life to get the most of it.There's only so many ways to do things in RS that would acually be viable during this event. Chinning spots and the like will be overcrowded making normal play yet again cumbersome. The best way is to do things that don't make you compete with others. The poor will see a chance to train cheaply, so they lose money. The rich see an opportunity to flip, so they get richer.
Grimy_Bunyip
Nice move by Jagex anyway.think about it this is a on perfect way to drain a lot of gp from the economy to counter the recent glitch and PvP drops. It's a good idea in theory, but construction is the best GP drain and it probably wont be used due to lack of SC hammerssummon will drain alot though alot of people are moaning about the chaos it will cause on RS pricesrunescape has always had a volatile economy. That's why i love merching/flipping in it.Sure this definitely doesn't apply to the majority, of RS players, and probably doesn't make for good business for jagex, but it's what i've come to expect Does anybody else think that jagex made this event a "quick fix", sounds like they've only changed a small piece of code and let others rotaltaring @ poh's is clearly a common way of training. but it looks like it was left out because it uses a xp multiplier script, that doesnt work with what jagex has coded so far.
