How YOU make money in Runescape

Featured Replies

Farming runs is what I do most consistently.. Slayer/corp makes a ton too :) *points to sig*

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

My primary source is slayer. Not sure of the gp/h, but its about 500k gp/task (excluding monster specific drops ie. whip, sol, etc)

Secondary source is MTK.

Final source is casual GWD/corp, just the odd trip when bored or some friends want to go. This last method will be pushed to the forefront within a month once I've the levels I'd like to have before using it as a primary source (99 range, 92+ herb, 95+ prayer).

Used to solo merch but found I was watching the graphs more than playing the game and didn't find that fun. I'd rather be poor and have fun doing what I enjoy on RS than rich and doing stuff I don't enjoy as much.

Slayer for me makes the money,. and MTK.

Slayer got me enough to buy some good things and level prayer. Not sure about the rates I see in this topic (500k per task  ) On average tasks always give you at least 100k I would say. If you add the special drops like whips, d boots, dark bows, hex/focus.. the average wiil sure be much higher, more in the range of 200-300k per task. But I never kept track of that and obviously people remember the really good tasks better than the worse dropping tasks ;)

For instance I once had a aberrant spectre task which gave me 21 ranarrs, 9 rune full helms, 2 mystic bottoms.. together with some other herbs and key halves that one task of about 130 spectres gave me 600k, which is unheard of.

As I reached slayer 99, I thought I would switch to other forms of moneymaking, but I found slayer is not bad at all (considering also the slayer points to spend on slayer runes)...

Herb farming is potentially a good moneymaker (about 200k every hour, but requires only 6-7 minutes per hour), but I myself use the herbs and don;t sell them

Perhaps I was a little generous, and its closer to 400k-450k/task net (I mentioned gross earlier ) , though my luck tends towards the lower end, consistent drops rather than the large value drops (ie. haven't had a whip in about 10 abby demons tasks, but always left with over 300k cash from alchs + 100k in herbs/gems + 100k in pure ess). Also when you take into consideration spending slayer points from Kuradel on slayer dart runes (1440 points over 50 tasks) that adds about another 80k/task right there. That combined with the larger scale tasks (usually I get assigned 180-250 creatures compared to the 130 you mentioned), dragon bones from the various dragons, and prices of herbs/gems (I bank all gems, and herbs worth more than 2k when I can) I still think my estimate is close.

I was also simply referring to the gross profit received, not net. Taking into consideration supplies, praying half the time (usually 10 ppots max), bunyip half the time and one pure set all the time that would take away about 75k profit on average.

my ranged tank is 99 def 99 ranged 90 hp at level 101. i'm just working on 99 magic by alching/stunning in bh worlds and then pking my targets. That is how i make money. I got a vls kill 2 days ago the total kill added up to 16.5 mil =)). But all luck aside, at combat 101 killing my targs usually around 60ish ep I average about 1.5-2 mil a target so it's pretty consistent gp. If I wasn't a 99 def tank, then my profit probably wouldn't be so consistent, but it's pretty hard to KO a level 101 with 99 def seeing as how i'm not a total idiot lol.

pandapk2.jpg

I mine Adamantite in bounty hunter worlds to get my EP up. After I mine 8 adamantite ore (worth 1.2k each), I kill hobgoblins until I get 2-4 limpwurt roots (2-3k each).

I walk to the bank near the volcano, and I walk back (running when attacked by monsters).

I only kill my targets, unless my EP is above 50 after killing one. Even with my deaths, and supplies factored in, I've made on average 200k gp per hour (When you kill your target in bounty hunter, they usually drop between 300k-500k worth of items. When I die in bounty hunter, I only drop 120k worth of items. Eating a full inventory of swordfish and pizzas costs about 10k).

If my EP is above 50 and my meter is at zero, I spend time killing other people until my EP is below 50. They usually drop about 100k-200k in items, and its much riskier (these guys are career PKers, targets are usually poor sobs).

I'll also merchant on the Grand Exchange. There really is no "GP/hour", it usually takes 4-10 days to complete one. I'll invest 10-20m in one item, and then sell it for 5-10% higher. So 1m GP in 7 days is 6k / hr :P

I usually just kill green dragons for cash, sometimes around 800k per hour or more depending on how many people are there.

Do herb runs every day (if i can be bothered).

Slayer or boss hunting sometimes.

Also made quite a bit hunting kingly implings at puro puro when they were released, playing at off peak times. Caught 4 in an hour once

All the cash i have ever made has been from skills. Slayer is a cash cow, over the time it takes to get 99 it pretty much rivals runecrafting in terms of profit.

99 fishing and 99 woodcutting made me about 100m total.

i haven't made much cash off runecrafting, its pretty much all ZMI exp.

I would say my main source of income is herbs, it usually make about 6m a week from herbs alone.

Can someone explain to me how i can make cash from thieving?

Lots of ways: cracking safes, cave goblin wire, pickpocketing, etc.

If I really need to make money right now, I mine Rune or do some crafting.

On P2P however, I made almost all my money from slayer and clues, with some random amounts of money added by the occasional skilling and Boss hunting.

Slayer, usually ending up with 500k Net a tasknot including the special drops (ie: whip, boots, mauls, etc)

I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen

I divide my not-99 skills into two groups, profitable and non-profitable. Do profitable skills if I need money. And sometimes I also do a little solo merch.

I kill other players and hope they drop something $$$

It's been a hell of a ride.

I do slayer, some herb farming (though, right now I'm stockpiling herbs so I'm not actually making any money... it's more like saving a bit of money on herblore right now), fishing, and MTK. Sometimes I'll make secondary items from skilling into finished products if it will net me a small profit or at least cut into some of the cost while getting me a bit of experience in another skill (like converting gold bars from smithing into dueling rings). Mostly I'm a stockpiler, I'll save up supplies for various things (like, I always have around 400 three dose prayer potions in my bank) and food and stuff, so if I need a bit of cash I'll just sell some of them and then make more from drops or gather more later (unless it's cooked fish, then I just gather raw fish to sell and then buy cooked, because I make a little profit and there isn't much point to getting more cooking exp if I already have 99). I don't know, I'm not really up on the most efficient ways to make money, I just sort of make a bit here and there and don't often spend what I do have on things I don't need or quick ways of levelling that are very expensive; for me, money just sort of accumulates over time as a happy benefit from doing things I find relaxing.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I always do every lvl 3 clue I find. Sometimes they're lame, but I've had a few that were in the 800k-1M range lately. Nice bit of extra profit from slayer, and a bit like a lotto ticket; there's always a chance I might just get some jackpot item. I never lose money them, so it's a nice diversion.
