I have a general question. Some think it is, some think it isn't, but is it a crime to buy badly cut woman's clothing?

Only if your butt doesn't looked [bleep]ed up in them.

I see. I was referring more to, hmm, blazers and [cabbage]. Only XS are cut well to my chest. I need some muscle.

Get your mens blazer tailored, unless the womens blazer actually fits perfect. They're also not designed with the same buttons often, if i were you I'd just go with the first option.

This is my set up, t-shirt and blazer, jeans and chucks. Yay, nay, improvements? Gonna get a better navy blazer, my other one is a horrible fabric, doesn't feel nice to wear.

My chuck taylors have holes in them. How would I go about cleaning them, by the way? And I need another black kace :\... It looks a bit tacky.

Those are my other casual shoes. My formal are black, need to get some brown leathers.

Also, I need a suit, for some conferences and stuff. How would I go about purchasing that? Classy men of TIF, I need your help.

Those Pumas you have, I think they are the perfect example of casual AND somewhat classy shoes. If you keep them clean and shiny they can complement nearly everything.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

Tbh I just throw my Chucks in the washing machine and wait for them to dry (tie the shoelaces first). If they've got tons of holes in them I might put them in a pillowcase first but they'd probably be fine.

I think you're too skinny to wear jeans that skinny. You should at least go for a darker color, imo.

Yeah, I agree with this. Or at least wear jeans that aren't skinny. But you wouldn't really fill those out. :-k

So I've been told by some friends that I'm probably one of the few guys that can actually pull off short-sleeved button-up shirts, because of my stature. So after thinking about this, I realized an awesome way to save money: I buy a bunch of real nice dress shirts (5-7), wear them regularly during the fall/winter, and then wear them with the sleeves carefully rolled up during the summer. I think it looks pretty good with slim cargo shorts (as in not the obnoxiously bulky kind, they're not really a slim fit), and is probably the only outfit I actually like a lot, the other being shirt/blazer/jeans or dress pants. The look's quite like this, actually:

I think it looks good, and feels very comfortable. So my question is, where do YOU guys shop for nice dress shirts and shorts? I've been an H&M shopper for a while, but after trying on an Armani shirt while browsing through the mall one day, I've finally realized how terrible H&M's quality is :P So I've really just been considering Gap, Banana Republic, or a department store, since I really don't plan on spending much more than $50 on a shirt.

I just went to Banana Republic and Calvin Klein a couple days ago and picked some up for $25-30, good quality, look nice, and comfortable. I even have a pic of them (with the sleeves rolled up too) on the last page.

I usually shop at Superdry, but I'm impartial about brand choices. I also buy from Primark (cheap store), Red Herring, St. George by Duffer, SoulCal and Espirit.

Because I'm rather slim, I find Espirit has the best fit. If you want to roll up your sleeves, then I can't really recommend Superdry. As I mentioned, I'm slim, and my clothes size is small (depending on brand it can be medium). Superdry shirts tend to be quite thick (also a problem for summer wear) and with the first shirt I tried (had pre-rolled sleeves) I was unable to fit into it, as my arms would not go through, so I ended up having to by a medium which is looser fit around the chest but perfect on the arms.

Espirit shirts are about $45 or less per shirt (I'm not sure if you get a student discount in America, but it would be good to use that).

What do you think, Lent?

I like blazers with t-shirts. I don't like pushing blazer sleeves up, skinny jeans (really gray jeans in general), or chuck taylors (well, sometimes). Most people would find it perfectly acceptable, but I'm a buggery old bastard sartorially. I do like your glasses and your hair. You just kind of look like a hipster to me. Hipster fashion is kind of silly.

Being so tall and skinny, lighter colors are your best friend for adding weight. Breaking your height up with fairly shocking color changes is helpful too, or belts. I like being considered tall, so a belt usually does it for me, but when you're tall and lanky sometimes it can seem weird. I'm happy I'm solving that problem.

Good suits? Can find them all over the place. If you need any special advice, ask. It's the tailoring that will make the difference - a hundred dollar suit can look better than a thousand dollar suit with the right tailor. Although most suits you'll find will range around three hundred dollars - if you aren't growing any more, that won't be much of a problem. A taken-care of, classic suit can last a decade or more if you take care of it. Since you'll be wearing it for business - and it's your first - it should probably be a worsted wool suit in a dark color. Dark navy blue, dark gray. Not black, just dark. Let your shirt and tie hold the flair. Although if you're speaking at these things, it's said that a red shirt with a solid yellow tie is the best to direct attention to your presentation moreso than yourself.

So I've really just been considering Gap, Banana Republic, or a department store, since I really don't plan on spending much more than $50 on a shirt.

I like department stores to get a fair number of mid-quality, mid-priced shirts in conservative colors. Van Heusen at JC Penny sells some fitted shirts that are in slightly more interesting colors, I think they retail for generally 25$. Pretty good shirts. Now, my favorite shirt I own is this orange (everyone says it's coral or salmon, it's roughly orangish) fitted Express Men's shirt. 1MX fitted is the line, I think. Fantastic shirt. But look around. Even thrift stores might have something.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Compliments, you're doing things right boyo.

I'm bringing back the bow tie to its original glory.

I think I read an article about that on Valet.

Two adults stopped me on my resume-dropping stroll to tell me they had fallen in love with my style today.

Guess what I was wearing (amongst other things, thank the Lord), rangeor?

That's right.

It starts with an F and ends with a lannel shirt.

(for the record, I was wearing an open thick black cardigan, brown/black/blue accent flannel shirt, top button closed, tucked into my dark wash blue jeans, a red shoelace for a belt, white socks, red Vans Authentics, and my natural good looks.)

Jackthreads is having a Cold Method sale. Worth noting are these two badass joints:

Denim jacket, 169$, 499$ retail

Gray linen jacket, 109$, 300$ retail

All sizes are available, except XL for the linen jacket. I can't get this because I'm broke, but please, someone copppppp

What does everyone think about tucking shirts in at the front just behind the belt buckle? (The shirt goes just a little bit past the belt buckle)

Obviously I mean when the shirt is done up.

I think it's add a bit of style (To me the untucked shirts, if they are quite a bit longer than the person's torso, I think, are rather lazy and slob-like, but I guess I'm too fussy).

I also do this with t-shirts if my shirt is open (which i'm actually not sure why I do that, I guess it just continues the theme).

I never really use it to create a break in my height (never really thought about it like that anyway). I'm not really a fan of fancy belts. A medium sized Levi's rectangle buckle is all I wear (in terms of belts). Could probably change it up for a white belt if I was feeling adventurous, but I'm not really a fan of them.

For button ups, I tuck it in all the way if I'm wearing something over it, and I usually let it out if not. You can tuck it in at the front if it's not too long I guess, but if it is, I think it'll look weird, you'll have much more shirt on your butt than in front.

For tees, if I need to show my belt (matches shoes, etc), I tuck in the front, but not the rest.
