Every good thing must come to an end. I was thinking about this today and, when do you think runescape's end is coming? I feel as if it is skyrocketing right now, but it will end soon. Jagex will move onto bigger projects or just update it once a month or so. Everything can't live long and prosper.

jagex said that once they're done with all the storylines on the current continent, they'll move on to eastern lands.

Runescape will live another 5 years at least. And probably will be getting more and more people all that time.

At the current rate Jagex is updating this game, and their stance on how they run the game...it will end up dieing off soon.

This Tuesday. They'll release some content that will surely cause "everyone" to realize that "runescape is dead".

People have been saying that scape is at death's door for a whole lot of years lol. My guess is that Jagex will not consider scaling back their primary source of revenue until they have a bigger source of revenue, and runescape's profits have begun to taper off. I see no logical reason for that to happen; the game has a larger player base now than it ever has before. To make it die anything other than a slow, visible from years ahead, decline, would require a massive and sudden change in the gaming market.

Just because there is a real life event doesn't mean there will be anybody going to it.

 

They obviously feel that they have enough support to successfully host an even though. Until we see what happens at the event we can only guess. My money's on a large number of people attending though.

Also, let us not forget that people were VERY excited with the trip to London when we had those video contests, honestly RuneScape has a lot of players right now and I highly doubt it's going towards an end anytime soon.

Every time someone brings up the "runescape ending" topic, it usually means their end of playing runescape, not the end of runescape as a game.

runescape is a very robust game, even with the anti bot mesures (2007?) the player base overall had little long tearm damage.

 

so unless the internet get deleted, a new jagex game comes out the is far more epic then rs, or jagex TRYS to kill of rs ( :blink: ) i dont see it haponing for a long time.

Its been hinted at by Jagex for years now.

 

So far the eastern most weve gotten with story lines is the eastern sea, which is a pirate haven.

 

The Cursed Archipelago is likely to be the setting of the next part of the series. Or a future part in it.

 

 

However the Eastern Lands are said to be MUCH farther east then the plot lines of the Eastern Sea.

 

Jagex have moved onto the eastern lands, sorta. Actually, they published it. Its called "War of Legends". And we have a forums for it as well :smile:

You said it. :P They published it, they didnt make it. ;)

Once they make it, we can cross it off the "Missing RS areas" list.

 

RS wont die untill Jagex do something dumb like removing player trading/chat or untill they have a more popular game.

Runescape will be around as long as its Jagex's flagship product.

 

Even then, if they stop updating it it would still be profitable to keep it online for awhile.

 

I doubt they even make 1/5th of their revenues from Funorb, their share from war of legends and app games combined.

I would still play it if it wasn't updated, so it will die when the servers shut down.
