Dragon Halberd

It seems like the good old 'D Hally' has quite limited use, it's slow but powerful, although slower and less powerful than a Godsword.

However, I have found using the Halberd as a Special Attack weapon to be simply amazing, for solo Bandos, TD's and basically any melee boss..

Reasons for this?

It has the highest possible damage (over 1000 LP on large creatures) and is quite accurate (usually dealing 400+ damage)

Heck, it can eve be used on Corp for FULL damage, many times i have received over 400xp, even up to 600 xp for a special on it.

So why is it think the Halberd is such a low price/rarely used over over, more expensive counterparts?

Also because you can buy it from a store.

Which sells them for higher than their actual cost,, and the time to get there means its not worth it.

Many believe that the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens was a catostrophic geological event, in reality it was the day that Jimi Hendrix returned to Earth from the next world and actually stood up next to a mountain and chopped it down with the edge of his hand.

And how do you think people got halbreds before? Halbreds weren't always so close to their alch price. Nobody loses halbreds that is why they are so cheap compared to the shop price.

Many dragon items have drifted over time towards near their alch prices, or even below. It's simply because they were added to the PvP drop tables and there's a sufficient amount of them entering the game to push it to that price. It's unfortunate, but it's inevitable as more and more gear are released into the game which outclass previous releases. Also that they have a relatively high alch value as Elucin8er said, so there's not really much leaving the game on a daily basis

A little bit more on topic - Personally I don't have a Dragon Halberd in my bank anymore (alched it ) Although yes, it's a decent spec weapon although it's limited to certain monsters. Another drawback is its speed, it is a fairly slow weapon and that means you'll have to sacrifice a shield slot to use it for those few seconds (which realistically in a boss situation such as Bandos would mean sacrificing maybe a Divine Spirit Shield/Elysian Spirit Shield and getting bamboozled a ton of LP) All in all I think the price accurately reflects its uses as a weapon, it's an outdated weapon and the whole class of Halberds (might as well throw in Battleaxes and Maces as well) are pretty much a thing of the past these days.

i never do pvp but for pvm i find the enhanced excalibur is great whilst training with a whip and i dont see many people using it not only does it heal you a considerable amount also raises my defence level from 91 to 105 and by time i can do special again my defence level is only down to 99 so its like a permanant higher level :D

it's got an attack speed of 3 right?

as opposed to 4 for a godsword

that and it's not quite as accurate

godswords also give +8 prayer which is handy at places like TD's.

I just don't really bother using damage specs @ boss hunting.

Either I use EE or SGS or I just don't use my special attack bar at all, it's not necessarily worth the hassle.

Read replys. They are not underrated, people just don't lose them

This. If DDS protected over everything like D hally did, It'd be easy to buy from the ge too

I'm pretty sure a lot of people here (me included) own a d hally and know its uses, but just have it sitting in their bank because it's not used as often as other weapons. Back in the day, I used a d hally as my primary wep because my entire money-making was from hallying blue dragons. Sure, range was faster, but I wanted the melee xp and was too low level to fight them up close efficiently. So I hally'd a lot until I converted to slayer and used that as a source of money. Now for slayer I use whip and sgs for spec so hally really doesn't come in handy for me, but I keep it in my bank anyway.

That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

I love my D hally =D

and whats a EE ? i'm sure i'll feel stubid afterward for asking

I don't know which mod did this. I don't know why they did it. If they're looking for money, I can tell them I don't have any as I'm a student. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over 4 years of RuneScape. Skills that I have worked hard for and people like them can't take them away. If they give me my particles back now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for them, I will not pursue them. But if they don't, I will look for them, I will find them, and they won't like what'll happen

ive witnessed woox get 800-1k xp per spec on corp, some of his maxes were over 500 500

i mean with spec pot thats a max of 4k+ dmg in 12 seconds, which for 20% of corps health thats epic, even with avg specs thats 10%

also when attacking smaller monsters people think its usless, but if theres lots of them stacked/adjacent in multi it can actualy do 3-4 hits

Enhanced Excalibur; full spec heals 200 lp and acts like a super defense potion.

I still have a dhally in my bank, not that I use it much.

It actually doesn't boost it as much as a super defence potion, but it does boost defence yeah. Still a very useful weapon and you can even heal without delays if you time switching your weapons correctly.

I find it terribly inaccurate, 2h, and I don't do a lot of hallying even though I still have one.

The good side is that its cheap (I got mine purely from lending my phat and saved the dough to

buy one). Its considerable at sw avatars and high end bosses. I've also noticed that no

monsters known drops it, which is kind of a bummer because it won't be as easy to buy

from the GE compared to other d weapons.

If you can afford dragon claws, they are much better for anything(but for corp perhaps), being faster and much more accurete, with double hit not depending on the monster size. Also if you can get a rapier, the dps of the spec would actually slow you down.

I have noticed that the halberd spec is exceptionally good againts pest control portals. Or then I am just lucky.
