Its has a lot of differences actually, if you look closely.

My new base: Hook Base

Its in an island-terrain biome, meaning the world consists of several medium to small sized islands with snow, forest, or desert biomes. Looking out of the window of my base, you can see a little island desert in the distance.

Now, for Hook Base:

I need a decently large amount of black-coloured blocks. Is there any way to get them other than obsidian and black wool?

Edit the skin so that Cobblestone has the same look as Obsidian?

Easiest method without INVediting it in would be to gather as many ink sacs as possible, and use them on sheep to dye them, and then shear them - you can get several blocks per sac that way, but you'd need to wait for sheep spawns, which would be mildly annoying.

Haven't been able to spend my free time as much on my castle project lately, but I have gotten some done - I'm starting on the castle itself now, one tower is partially built, and I have four more towers already built.

Also, I have squid in my fountain. A half dozen of them or so. They still haven't gone away... >.>

Not to mention the freaking cows and chickens and everything else wandering around the courtyard area. My INVedited blocks set to 255/invy square glitch and disappear if I punch an animal out of the way, and this happens constantly, usually meaning I have to save and quit to INVedit more in >.<

I've taken to using the throw that brick mod to pelt them with bricks and kill them, or just use the grappling hook and fling them outside (or straight up, has the same effect).

I've been getting a couple... odd things happening, though. On occasion, when I open my save file, I immediately die, and respawn as normal. But when I return to where I died, nothing is there at all. I think it's related to the hacked diamond armor I had on to have nigh infinite health (thus making me immortal) glitching up and going god mode pretty much on me even with the armor off (sat in a block of lava for three minutes without dying), so I've decided to not hack the armor health anymore :P I hope that fixes it, since it's annoying to have to re edit everything back into my invy that I was using.

Once I get the castle mostly constructed, I should do the moat and drawbridge... and even more wiring to be done >_> had a few issues getting my gate to function correctly, it refused to show the fence block when it was down, and if I forced the block to update and show it by placing something next to it and removing it, raising the gate made it look like it was still there, but I could walk through it. I fixed it by making a small waterfall enclosed in one side of the gate (can't see it at all now that it's covered up), which seems to have fixed the problem by making the blocks near it (including the gate) update and show changes faster. I know for a fact that fence pieces are glitchy like this to begin with, using them to make a gate with ControllerBloc probably doesn't help matters, lol. Ah well, it's all working now.

Sorry if I repeated some things from a previous post, it's really late (early) right now, and I'm bloody exhausted, lol.

That happened to me with hacked diamond armour. I ended up just playing on peaceful.

Have a pool of water going round the outside to jump into. Simples.

Pointless but I found it pretty funny

EDIT: oh yea, the beginning is the guy's intro to every video. Can skip that part.

OH MY GOD A MOD THAT INCREASES HEIGHT LIMIT!!!!

http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=178787

It supports up to 65k limit. Default setting is 512.

This breaks most of my other mods, but I don't give a [cabbage]. This is the best mod ever made.

Edit: Well it looks like at the moment it's not quite complete because lighting dosen't affect blocks above the normal height limit at all, eg torches don't work, overhanging blocks completely black out blocks below it, probably mobs won't spawn that height either. Still cool, and anyway it just came out and is only v0.1.

The last two movies touched upon the two things I completely love:

Special effects/film editing and Comedy. <3: Awesome.

Holy speedy coding batman, the guy already fixed the lighting bug not 1 hour after I posted about it!

Now all it needs is a higher render distance, and possibly stacked chunks for infinite height limit rather than simply stretching the chunks to 256, 512, 1028, 2056 etc (higher values make you run out of memory fast).

I just realized how scary Minecraft actually is...

---

Just think about it. You're the only living human in an (literally) infinitely large world. Every day you go into an (literally) endless mine with a pickaxe in hand and a sword, some food and torches in your backpack. Hearing the beautiful voice of diamonds you dig, dig, dig deeper, mining some iron on the way. But iron isn't enough to satisfy you; diamonds are what you want. So you dig even deeper. You see some gold nearby, and walk towards it. With a few swings of your pickaxe, you mine the gold. But that was a mistake; as you grab the gold, you fall down, down, down into a burning ring of fire lava. Luckily, you don't fall right into lava; unluckily, you find yourself surrounded by a horde of monsters. You quickly reach for your sword and swing it around, hoping to hit the monsters before they hit you. After getting rid of the monsters, you hear a hiss nearby. Suddenly something explodes and you are hit by stone cubes. You decide to dig even deeper in search for diamonds. As you hit the rock bottom (literally), you see them. Diamonds! You quickly get the diamonds out of their stone prison and begin your return to the surface. You mine some stairs in the rock, and suddenly realize you have no torches left. You mine like crazy in the pitch black tunnels. Somewhere down below you hear screams of the horrible monsters. As you reach the surface, you notice it's night, and you see monsters everywhere. You make a mad dash to your house and somehow survive. You look in your backpack and smile as you notice a small pile of diamonds.

---

Yeah, I almost went (literally) insane during my last trip to the caves. Damn scary.

I fixed redstone unleashed. Pretty simple fix. So basically what it does is extends the range of redstone to infinity (within loaded chunks). You should probably limit yourself somewhat, though. I made a trail of redstone going all the way up my 450 block high tower, and the game froze for about 5 seconds when I flipped the switch. It reached all the way up though so I'm happy it works.

Don't forget that the zombies wear clothes incredibly similar to yours. And sometimes when your map is generating new places it bugs and includes things from your other saves, so you may end up coming across other buildings, seemingly abandoned. D:

My girlfriend is away for a week, so I think it's time to start a project. I can't decide what though, I'm thinking mob harvester/dark room trap though, I just need to figure out how to do so though.

I'm not sure I understand mob farming/harvesting... you use a mob spawner, remove the floor under it, and add like some cacti so they fall on it?

I don't really want a guide, just a nice explaination what it is.

Generally mob traps involve a large dark room where mobs can spawn, and 1-deep water channels that mobs can fall in and be carried to deathtraps of sorts - weather that be cacti, gravity, or lava. Mob spawns can be increased by eliminating all others places within the surrounding area that mobs can spawn in by planting torches.

Two Questions:

A: What settings do you use to get Cartograph to look like in Shovel's post?

B: What's a reliable way to boost a minecart long distances?

Sorry to ask, but my boosters always break after a short time <_<
