Pro DGing

I'd be interested to just pick up skills, really. Currently my keying is terrible as I don't have a memory for doors and my organisation is pretty bad. Best effort was I think a 45~ minute occult.

Currently 96 dg.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

So I am thinking of making a dungeoneering clan (with a focus on teaching people how to DG well, instead of being totally "pro".) with the following setup:

-- 80+ DG required

-- Official world changes daily. world will be posted on a website

-- This website will feature dungeoneering guides and videos

-- CC will be public/open, but people will get kicked if they are not on the right world. This ensures that only people who get to the cc through the website DG with us.

-- Expected floor time of 30-40 minutes/large

Comments/questions before I get started?

My thoughts.

I find it problematic that a clan attempting to teach people must have a dg level requirement. It's already been admitted that the dg level doesn't matter much. Please consider other factors than mere "levels."

Changing worlds daily would be a headache. Monthly or bi-weekly might work.

If this website were to be separate from the main site - Tip - then a link back to here would be nice. A well-presented video works far better than a written guide. Oh, hell, why not start a thread located somewhere in the clan area?

A friends-only chat for the first few months of the chat's birth would put down any spam/chaos/griefing. It's actually hard to reach the 200 friend limit anyway, and besides, only 100 people can be in the chat.

And please pick a good name for the cc. Something like, oh, "Army of Hyt." I don't know.

If you were to establish a patronage/sponsorship system, where the ranked pick up recommendations on potential clan dgers for review, it would help with the quality control.

I think changing weekly is more reasonable.

And no, the req will stay 80+. Training people below that will be WAY too much of a hassle.

Well, The Ancient, if you were to organize something like that I might actually start doing DG again. As it is, it's too much hassle to find a team with 88 dungeoneering. All the "pro teams" want 100 or 105+, which is ridiculous. So what I am usually left with are teams of randomers that usually include someone who ragequits midway through a floor, or if we do actually finish, it takes us close to an hour and a half to do one floor.

Here's how I imagine ranks working out, in order of power:

Admins

-- Write guides

-- Board maintenance

-- CC maintenance (All have access to the CC account)

Approvers

-- DG req (maybe 100+ but I dont have 100 yet LOL)

-- Do approval runs

-- CC maintenance (Have rights to kicking)

Ranked

-- DG req (90+?)

-- Must get approved

-- Have access to CC

-- Have access to forums

Unranked

-- Have access to CC

-- Have access to forums

Strangers/Randoms

-- Do not have access to CC

-- Do not have access to all of forums

I'm not sure I like the idea of approvers. I mean Approvers are fine. But giving them too much say over anything is bad.

It's a little too subjective for my tastes. Opens up the door for Drama and what not.

I think it'd be better to just have players try to earn objective achievements, and post these achievements online, and have players judge who they want, or do not want to key with based on said achievements and dungeoneering level, and their choice of binds.

(note that these are strictly achievements, and not demerits.

A player can get improve over time, but skills knowledge that are learned are rarely ever unlearned)

The achievements should be related to your ability to dungeoneer of course.

perhaps ones for keying a 15,20,25,30,35,40 minute occult/warped/abandoned with the confirmation of 2-3 approvers.

Or others for successfully luring dreadnaut, soloing certain bosses on 5:5 larges with 126+ f2p Combat players, or aptitude for gatestone tricking or running thunderous, or Soloing a mercenary room without taking damage via gatestone trick. All useful skills in the appropriate situation.

Or another for demonstrated competency in solo gatestone tricking, monster luring, safe spotting, and knowledge of trampling.

that way when a player can look at their achievements, binds, and dungeoneering level, they can make a reasonable, and objective estimate of the player's skill.

And most importantly, it would be separated from the politics and drama that plague many dungeoneering groups.

where will the forums be?

Ill be interested..102 dg

just wondering..the people in 3bo

has it gotten really that bad LOL?

I think this would be mainly for the people who can't use 3bo, but still want to dg fast and efficiently

I'm all for the idea, and we don't even need a "forum" as such, just use someone's cc for now

(103 dg)

Was kind of curious how bad 3bo has gotten.

But yeah , Ancient made an irc channel?

We should have both an irc chan/clan chat

I'm interested. Currently 91 DG (92 within 24 hours of posting this hopefully), 2273 total, 138 combat.

My best key run is a 27 min F43, but it was a pretty easy one

As far as DG knowledge goes, the only thing i'm a bit short on is the higher bosses. Thunderous and higher i've yet to learn (just unlocked Thunderous ~2 days ago, only had one time).

By all means, if anyone would like to do a floor with me, and give me a bit of constructive criticism, i'm game.

One thing that sets me apart from a lot of people, is I enjoy keying. I have T5 tank + T5 gather rings atm, and will be higher in each soon.

It should be known to all that DG with me, my college net is notoriously volatile, and it randomly DC's. That's about the only time I fail to key halfway decent.

Edit: I'm open to doing Vent/Skype floors after I finish up this semester December 14th-ish. I know being able to talk rather than typing can really speed up dungeons.

2461/2496 Total, 35 levels to Completionist

Approvers? Pfft. Call them Arbiters. Neutral, objective-based judges.

I wouldn't create too much structure in the clan. Just keep it simple and reasonable.

Has the Vent/Skype channel been established?

most ppl I know use skype :P

all TIFFER dgers i know use skype.

so probably that even though I can't say for sure.
