So it seems that Skyrim now makes use of the Steam Workshop. To commemorate this, Valve and Bethesda have created the first mod downloadable from the Workshop; everyone's favourite Space Core.

Similarly, free DLC: A high-resolution texture pack.

I'm downloading that at the moment. About 15 minuets left.

I hope not to mod my game too much. Only thing I've downloaded so far was a mod to let me make arrows. That's about all I really wanted.

So far I have the Midas Magic mod, which is amazing and currently too OP, but the creator has said it's still a WIP. I also have a mod to reduce the weight of dragon bones and scales, a mod to add in brackets the skill tree to be levelled for books, and dynamic merchant gold, which means if you sell a lot of things to them in a few days they'll start to have an increased amount of gold. No limit to how much a merchant will end up with.

I went mage for the first character in vanilla skyrim. I killed enemies with ease that my friends that went with other styles were stuck on for awhile. Magic is OP in skyrim period. It's not the mod.

Magic gets dumbed down at later levels (post 30s) because magic damage doesn't actually increase as you level like weapons or archery does. If a spell does 35 damage at Lvl1, it's gonna do 35 damage at Lvl80 - only perks will increase damage output.

This makes you nearly unbeatable at higher levels due to spells such as being able to shapeshift into a giant, casting a paralyse rune, being able to spam giant fireballs, being able to open master locks, entangling enemies, mass reanimation and the early spells, such as heal + disease cure, summoning dragonlings, and poison cloak aren't that balanced themselves. That's in comparison to other spells too.

Fireball + dual casting+ impact+ like 200% mana regeneration. Everything dies, nothing can touch me, and I never have to worry about health, stamina, or mp again. Again, magic is op in vanilla, atleast the mod gives you some interesting spells.

Indeed. Magic is very op I think we can all agree with that. I prefer archery, and have gotten really good with my bow. Only combat style I use till I start using soul trap for enchanting.

I preffer the sword + shield combo. I'm a walking tank that can do 500 damage in one hit, without having to wait for any casting, with enough armour on me to take on giants as if they were skeevers.

Although, I admit, I like the pretty lights a Fire Mage can make =P~

Speculation on TES 6 anyone?

I'm convinced it will be set a few years later, and will involve a climax between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire. It would be a shame for the series to skip another two centuries and just 'explain' the whole Thalmor storyline.

There was a mod fiend that discovered that the entire map of Tamriel is accessible from Skyrim's game data....though the landscape was baren of activity. Still - this gives potential for mind blowing DLC

I want to go back to Morrowind. What with that volcano (forgot the name) erupting, could make for some pretty sweet quests. And going back to the one island where the werewolves are (that expansion pack... Bloodmoon? Man it's been too long since I've played Morrowind) could be cool too, considering you become one with the Companions.

I'm having fun with the workshop add ons that improve the game enviroment.

So far I'm up to:

  • RCRN 2.0 Realistic Colors and Real Nights (disabled this one. Nice as it is, for ease of gameplay I would rather have some light during the night).
  • Piteå
    • Better Dynamic Snow
    • Enhanced Distant Terrain
    • Kerplunk - Watery Rocks
    • Lush Grass
    • Lush Trees
    • That's Ice
    • Köttbullar
    • Vibrant Auroras
    • Terrain Bump

    [*]Detailed Cities

    [*]Detailed Outskirts

    [*]Realistic Lighting

[*]Improved Interior Lighting (For Pluto's Realistic Lighting Mod)

[*]Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons

[*]Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds

Trying to refrain from anything that might alter the actual gameplay, though craftable arrows are a bit tempting.

For me, craftable arrows brought archery from "This isn't worth my time" to "I'm only still using one handed because of healing". You go through arrows pretty quickly otherwise, and it's almost not worth using anything stronger than maybe Orcish because of how rare they are.

I guess I just don't use the bow enough. I was originally trying to keep pace with once handed in the archery skill, but I gave up on that a while back. I also use an Ebony bow, which while superb for dealing devastating sneak attacks that, with a little luck, can drop many enemies with a single hit, has an exceptionally long draw time. I normally don't get in more than 2 or 3 shots (that is, when I bother to take one) before the sword and shield come out. Sometimes I use on of my shouts to speed it up though. Almost like using my forsworn bow again when I use that. Long story short, I don't normally use more arrows than I can find, so its normally not an issue for me.

I'm also on the fence with ebony verses daedric. Daedric is obviously superior, but I like the look of ebony more. I think I liked my ebony sword more too, though I accidently got it stuck on my weapon rack (apparently small weapons can't be retrieved if placed on the outside racks, so goodbye ebony sword and weeping blade), so I made a new one in the daedric form. It will totally fit the more vicious theme though once I am finished making and upgrading my daedric set, which I plan to use at least until my heavy armor level is high enough that I can achieve maximum armor rating with either set. And who knows, maybe the "I'm going to eviscerate you" look will grow on me. That armor should totally give bonus points for intimidation.

Just use the arrow duplication hack, unlimited daedric arrows ftw..

Since I my net is slow, I've been playing some Oblivion until I can update Skyrim. Tackling the Thieves Guild right now, after that it's get mage to OP levels so I can create some fun spells. Definitely going to have fun with AoE Frenzy spells once I get a decent Illusion level and Magetallow Candles for Frostcrag Spire.
