Looks pretty good the story looks interesting. Its good to see some expansion on vampires because they really were pathetic in the original game. Horse combat + Crossbows though I do like! Hope we get a few more of the things they previewed in that 'do whatever you like devving week' video or w/e it was called.

Horse combat was added/will be added in 1.6. If you're on the PC you can get a beta version of it.

I've playing mount and blade, all of that for awhile...

Dawnguard has been released on 360 today. 10 new achievements. Got one randomly (lost to the ages, or whatever it's called.) Haven't figured out how to actually start the vampire questline yet though.

And apparently there are legendary dragons? That is, there's an achievement for killing one anyway.

Is it free? Or at least cheep? Free would be awesome, but cheep should be acceptable. Kind of hoping they stick with skyrim for a while and keep adding to it so that I don't have to wait for them to make a new game, and then pay for it.

It's 1600 MSP. $20. $15 would've been kind of pushing it, $10 would've been just fine... but $20 is rather crazy imo.

At least half my game library was in the $20 category. That's not very impressive. I guess I'll wait and see how big it is. If it adds another 50% or so to the game, then fine, I'm happy to pay $20 for that. If its some little extension, then no.

I think it depends on you doing both sides of the story. I haven't played much, so I have no idea how long the Dawnguard side takes, but from what I learned from Roosterteeth doing a This is... on it, it's around 10 hours or so for the vampire side. Not including leveling up your vampire/werewolf powers, doing the new random quests, etc.

Like I said, $20 is pushing it. $15 would've been fine.

I completed Dawnguard on both storylines; the Vampire one and the Dawnguard one.

Liked the Vampire lord transformation; though the weaknesses outweigh the benefits of it!

I love the crossbows though...few new sideline quests are nicely done, few new areas are very nicely done...bout it really!

Oh and legendary dragons are ridiculously easy, because they generally appear when you're level 79 so you should have the ability to just kill them quicker than the other dragons at the lower levels :?

And the worst part?

[hide]I'm not stuck with 3 god damn elder scrolls stuck in my inventory and can't figure out what I have to do with them!! After the DLC main questline, that is![/hide]

You can give them to the librarian at the mage guild, he takes them. I was doing the mage guild questline and noticed the option, clicked on it, and not only will he take it, but he'd be honored to take my junk.

So let's talk DLC.

Dawnguard was released less than a month ago. Came with a decent storyline and game additions.

But today Hearthfire was announced as a way to make your home from the ground up, released on September 4th, for only 5 bucks.

That's pretty awesome IMO, and is more interesting to me than an overpriced (IMO) storyline add-on.

Looks like it'll be out in at least October for the PC/PS3. Otherwise, looks interesting.

They haven't even announced the release date for Dawnguard on the PS3. Knowing Bethesda, we'll have to wait until the GOTY edition is released.

I like the sound of Hearthfire, although it will feel kind of strange in Skyrim. Kind of like seeing Aela cook.

As part of my getting back into Skyrim, I have gone looking for even more graphical mods. I already have times in the game where I am looking around, and the game world is so beutiful that I just stop and gaze around in wonder. My goal is to have even more of those moments. Staying away from realistic lighting mods though. I have a couple (one for outside and one for inside), and beautiful as they may be, I don't wish to be wishing for a floodlight for the rest of the game, so I keep them turned off in the interest of being able to see where I am going. Of course, now I have packs that are duplicating each other, so I'll have to sort out the load order, or pick which ones I want to keep. I got a whole new set of detailed cities, and I think I'll run all of those, but have the new ones load last, since they were developed later and seem to be more comprehensive.

It still amazes me the effort people (especially Jay, who seems to be the author of like 70% of the mods I am using) put into this kind of thing. The vanilla world is pretty stunning in its own right, Bethesda did a pretty good job I think. But these people see something they don't like and just BAM! Gorgeous world.

I am not enjoying the process of getting my new addons though, since steam has no progress bar for this. So I just sort of have to let my computer sit and not use steam and hope its downloading stuff (though I guess I could look at my network usage to see if I am downloading or idle, and look at that, download usage at nearly a Mb/s, so I guess I am still downloading).

Get the Better Males Mod. It will really pump up the realism. :-w

The order I have them in seems to be working fine, though I suspect one of them is responisble for my bed in Breezehome being owned, and my not being able to sleep in it. I can live with that though. Oddly enough, the more blood and dripping armour are the ones that I am really noticing. Not getting wet in the rain or after swimming actually did bother me, and the extra blood from fighting seems to be a tad bit more realistic, so that fights are more like this now:
