February 14, 201214 yr Inb4dontlikeitdontdoit I posted this a few pages back.It is hard to see, for them, from dem Tearz. Hehe I maxed out using effigies a while back. Have fun skilling chumps! This is entirly the reason they shouldn't of ever changed it. Win for maxed players, salty for everyone else with the possible exception of people with goals past 99 (i.e. 200M exp)I do not know what's more sad. The fact that you are crying about changes that are actually good, Or the fact that you seem jelous of people who are 200M, many of which gained it from EasyScape. It was meant as an insight into the reasons for people's anger. Personally, I find the update amusing as I've never been into Effigyscape and this puts everyone back to the times when it wasn't around. Thank you though for your cynicism.
February 14, 201214 yr Dont complain ti jagex about effigies. Complain about how boring and mindless rc/agility are.THIS. So much this. I'll type more about the matter when I'm at a real computer. Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
February 14, 201214 yr If people aren't having fun when working towards their goal then they should change their goal.I agree, which is why there are so many angry people on here. Getting effigies was usually a lot more fun than crafting runes (I have done both, I have 15.5mil rc xp by just running essence). Effigies provided a boost to those hard to train skills and also gave people a reason to train a skill like slayer which provides no other benefits.
February 14, 201214 yr No way in hell I'm going to run around for hundreds of hours when I could kill stuff and still get decent xp( no I don't mean simply farming effigies, rather slaying after 99 for example, you know doing what you enjoy.) Then don't train those skills. ;-) I'm never going to have 99 runecrafting, for example, or 99 agility or even 99 hunter simply because I can't stand those skills. I can still enjoy the game perfectly fine without them, however (except for when I'm dungeoneering). Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to tell people how the game should be played. That's the base line: some people play grindscape, some people play effigyscape. In the grand scheme of things, I don't care either way - to each their own. As long as they don't bot, I'm happy. If I'm perfectly honest, I can't say this update (where it concerns effigies) matters all that much to me - though I am of course biased simply because 'effigyscape' has never been a viable option to me. If it had been, chances are I'd be reacting differently. I do understand where others are coming from, though. All this talk about 'it's not how RS was ment to be played', that's poppycock as far as I'm concerned. It has been one of the various viable ways for over a year and a half. This update might have been welcome back then, a few weeks after effigies were first introduced to the game. While I actually agree it's a mistake they've now rectified, it sure has taken them their sweet time. Cracking down on it this hard over a year and a half later surely wasn't necessary when a simple tweak to drop and/or xp rates would have sufficed. February 14, 201214 yr I must be the only person here who doesn't farm effigies for training. No I dont either, none of my experience has been gained from effigies. I have them stockpiled though, in the hopes that I could use them one day when I had the required skills. Unfortunately I can do so no more, and that is the reason I am annoyed.

February 14, 201214 yr Issue I have is I can't save mine till I have the level to do them, I have to go waste my time looking for assists when I could have potential exp for doing them myself. Has nothing to do with effigy scape, I don't care if they make them extremely rare, just let me use them my way.
February 14, 201214 yr [spoiler=Quest-related]Spent awhile with the egg. I swear I could've done it right on the first try if the Mejs weren't bumbling idiots and firing at the wrong time. :wall: Looks like I'll be taking awhile on this quest...

February 14, 201214 yr Glad to see they finally did something about effigy-scape. The way people were getting 99s by just planning effigy drops was completely ridiculous and out of context. They are meant to be an occasional xp-related drop, not a basis to get a freaking 99 on every single skill people "hate". This is how the game is supposed to be, by the standards of people solely effigy-training, their capes should have a penguin over an effigy being thrown by a troll, least that would reflect what they actually did...
February 14, 201214 yr No, I am sure many low level players (like me) don't care about this update. Why should I be mad at something that doesn't even affect me? By the time I will be able to use effigies either they will return to normal or a reduced; but not limited rate or there will be other training methods, IIRC Jagexsaid they were working on a RC training method that didn't need essence or altars. This update doesn't really do anything for me.
February 14, 201214 yr So let's establish: why did effigies have to get nerfed? Other than the crap about effigies being "meant as ..." because in the end it's what the players make of them that counts. And they found it was a viable training method, that was highly encouraged by game updates up to this update. February 14, 201214 yr I don't understand why people don't like effigies / think they're cheap xp. It's not as if effigyscape is that much faster than other training.
