The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion

That or it is rigged for beta purposes to help people get specific weapons.

Or perhaps even purposefully has certain bosses turned off/reduced as they haven't been looked over properly yet.

I'm hoping they just open up an equipment shop like the ones they have on the surface, once they get around to updating DG.

The DG bank i think is an idea we want to see in the live game. Obviously hope they open a dg item shop when testing out dg, hopefully people would be willing to test various setups that way.

Ive found it silly that they release full sets of armour but only allow you to bind at most 4 pieces. You can never actually wield full primal. Hopefully they release some kind of "binds points" where you get more points with higher Dg levels. Perhaps something like 10 points for gloves/boots, 40 for a platebody etc. and you get 50/100/200/whatever points. That system would revitalise binding in that all binds aren't treated equally, so lesser items like platelegs or helmets could be bound. In the current system there is no reason to do that, but if Platelegs+helmet cost the same amount to have as a platebody, and provide similar defence (idk actually) there would be more variety.

As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapabale of solving approaches zero.

Ensure you are not a social situation.

Well damn -- looks like our clan will need to find another even this weekend. Playing Pest Control with a bunch of monkeys has no appeal to me whatsoever ...

Was your clan planning to do it in the beta? Remember, you only need to make it through one game for the costume piece. Also, dunno what it was, but the games I played were really easy. Maybe it was all the max level armour, or maybe people who play the beta games actually intend to play the game, but twas far too easy.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

your article was the equivalent of a circumcized porcupine

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

If you hit over 32768 damage, your zeal counter gives up and says "LOTS!" :P

Seems like the new requirement is 5k damage per game, easily achieved many times over by using any of the 20% damage Ultimates on the portal in Veteran.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.

Wow. So three weeks without any patch notes, and they're aiming for a september release? The combat beta is in such a derpy state right now... no way will it be ready by september.

Yea you would think they would be making a lot more progress with the amount of things that need work.

Have the courage to change the things you can, the patience to accept the things you can't, and the wisdom to know the difference.

It's weird. We haven't really gotten any new, solid content in a while. Which is understandable, because you'd think everyone's busy working on the EoC. But when there have been no changes in three weeks, it's making me wonder what they're doing all day at Jagex HQ.

All we get nowadays is more crap about SoF & Solomon. Sigh...

Wow. So three weeks without any patch notes, and they're aiming for a september release?

Nitpicking: the last update was two weeks ago (And they said last week's update would go live with this week's), and the release date they gave was apparently October.

Guessing that it's late because something broke and they're trying to fix it before it goes live.

Also they've mentioned several interface reworks + tutorial + the new targeting system which aren't trivial..

Make sure its full approval, as all members can access beta during event weekends such as this one.

It's full approval via message. Access to both beta and the forums. Wonder if it's given out to those that hit a year of membership while Beta is ongoing (I re-upped last year in June when loyalty program was released).

So kinda like having a shield and weapon in one bind?

Actually seems worth it.

EDIT

2wpky9z.png

What I was actually after (a second piece of Primal).

So assuming T11 armor pieces are equal, one could get 990 + 2227 + 3564 + 2673 = 9454 LP in 3 binds (with the T11 LB).

qq216g.png

More finds :)

This means with 4 binds you could get 9454 + 792 = 10246. HHB is the same amount as Sag LB according to RSWiki.

I've tried the beta dozens of times and I always do the weekend events but I still have no clue what I'm doing. It's unlikely I'll bother doing any combat once the beta officially comes out.

The trouble is at higher stats there's SOOOOOOO much choice it's overwhelming to begin processing, especially when we have to unlearn everything we know already.

That's why Jagex are working on a tutorial for it.

I must say I felt the same at first but now I've started getting my head round it it does make sense.

I think the worst part of the beta that I still haven't gotten over is how when I'm level 200 and completely unarmed, I still get mercilessly slaughtered by a level 50 White Knight :P
