Not going to work. Everyone has to start from scratch, it's not like you can log in and start PKing again (main reason most people want to play the old version). Plus, all the prices are going to be so high. Imagine the first batch of whips being sold for tons of money. Money hardly anyone has because they're here for some "old skool pking", not skilling. Plus, the community won't be the same as 5-6 years ago. Stop living in the past and go with the changes. And Jagex, invest your time and money in the current version.

  • It's a shame all the people who whined like children for the 2007 servers to come back didn't do that.

It would be impossible to quantify how many people ignore it, therefore how many people really oppose it and how many people couldn't care less. It's like the "Like for x, Share for y" thing on Facebook. It's not really a measure of public opinion or a plebiscite, it's just publicity.

But to be fair, it's worked absolutely fantastically because, here we are discussing it, and this is one of the most rapid threads in recent GD history.

Well it's pretty cool they are giving the players the option and that it's a legitimate poll (unlike the free trade one, not that I'm complaining, just saying). I will personally vote yes, however, it's doubtful I'll play it unless it's free access. I think it'd be cool to have the servers around and then everyone could stop whining, I could see botting becoming and issue though. Even though all my best times in Runescape were around that time and that's where I made my money and discovered PvM and had a blast, I've adjusted to the game and moved on and actually enjoyed the EoC from the start, The game seemed to get boring to me and I was losing interest, EoC kind of changed it up and made it a lot more fun for me. I don't see enough content in the old version either to have fun. I'm interested to see if this goes through how many players will actually stick to it (assuming it's an extra fee), could be fun and all for a while but I don't miss some of the old exp rates at all :P.

People are just going to sell the 2007 items for current game gp.

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

Oh well it'll be nice (if this happens) to see 07 scape implode in a shitstorm of RWT, botting, dead servers and whining about how it's not what people wanted (even though they asked for it) and we can just sit back and say "Told you so"

I definitely had more fun playing back then than I do now. That said, I probably wouldn't get near the same amount of enjoyment if they go ahead with this. I'm all for it, however. Yes it will get botted... who cares, all versions of RS always have been and always will be botted to shit. It's a unique chance to attempt to relive my nostalgia, and that doesn't happen often. I'll vote for it. Hopefully it hits the amount of votes required to not pay 15$ for it, because that is absurd.

They said 2007 servers, not 2003. Try and keep up, please.

First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.

First to 3766 Port Score on 20. March, 2014.

First to 4664 Port Score on 2. March, 2015.

Anyone have the time to look through the HS to check how many real players there are? Ie: not counting the 34 total level spambots on trial.

I have a feeling that 750k will be impossible.

If the vote is high enough the free portion of the game will be ... free.

I wish they'd include a list of features that would/wouldn't be included in the August 2007 version.

For example, GWD was released on August 28, 2007. If GWD is in this new server, I'm not interested in playing. I don't like the impact it had on the game-- basically PvM completely overtook skilling for earning money.

I'd still play with GWD, but I agree with the sentiment here.

I think no GWD in such a server would be a mistake, an interesting point no one has brought up, is that no rares will be present in the game.

There needs to be something high end to aim for :P.

Check it out, huge amount of effort has gone into this massive mod!

No they won't, because there won't be anyone to sell to.

But on a serious note, I'm really not bothered about this either way. Rest assured, these servers *are* going to return because there is an audience for it. I won't be voting though, and outside of nostalgia there is absolutely no reason why I would ever want to play such a backwater, outdated game again.

Sylpheed.png

Actually, now I think about it, if I could vote no, I would still abstain. If there really was enough interest in the servers to get people to get members in big enough numbers to turn a profit, then it isn't really a drain on the main game at all. If there isn't enough interest, then it would rightfully not get more resources than is necessary.

So basically, I'm going to go with the majority opinion, whatever it is.

It amazes me that anyone would vote for less choice anywhere in life. I will vote for it.

Dynastyfan0.png

I'm surprised that nobody has pointed out some of the more critical updates that would definitely be missing. For example, as I pointed out in another thread recently, fullscreen and variable-resolution modes were added in mid-2008. If this old version is restored, it will be played in a tiny fixed-size window. Jagex talked about adding anti-bot measures in their post, but they made no mention of adding any graphical features like this.

Also, people claiming that you should vote for it for the sake of other people don't understand the purpose of this vote. If Jagex get 900k "Yes" votes, but 700k of those were from people who would never play it in the first place, then they've just committed to their most expensive option for a lot less revenue than they're expecting. This would drain money and resources out of the main game. If you don't want to play 2007-scape, then the responsible thing to do is to abstain.

Quick question: are RSC servers overrun with bots like people believe the 2007 servers will be?

By my estimation this is roughly where spambots end and real players begin:

http://services.runescape.com/m=hiscore/a=569/overall.ws?table=0&category_type=0&page=35790

Meaning there's about 787,000 accounts (ignoring obvious spam bots) that can possibly vote, so it'd be a close run thing for sure.

Knock off a few thousand more for inactives and other bots and we prob looking at like 760-780k actual possible voters; then considering want it vs do not care/do not want I'd imagine anything over 600k votes (to be generous) is unlikely, realistically I'd be quite surprised if it got past the 300k region.

Personally I'm not interested in 2007-scape. But I wonder if, for example, the guys heading up swarms of goldfarming bots will decide that it's in their interest to vote yes. New markets?

I won't vote just because everything will be so expensive in-game, the resources will be impossible to sell without the old forums, and skilling will be near impossible without resources. I don't look forward to shelling out 20m for a set of Guthans like I did in the past.

If you vote no/don't vote at all, you'r a selfish bastard. It doesn't effect you in anyway. You can still continue to play eoc.

iKhvZOZ.png4F4hQZ4.png

I really don't play EoC either. I just don't understand what you will value in the old game over the new game. You will hit 99 melees before you will even be able to get a whip. You also won't be able to get dragon bones to train prayer for months because you don't have the cash to even begin to afford them.
