The fact they are outright ignoring any questions on why it was delayed and decided to not even address it properly in the bts video says all you need about what delayed it.

 

And yes there are other factors that made jagex do it, but how did Jagex get the idea to do those things? Why did they become hot topics? From the fact that a vocal group whined and complained and spammed and argued until Jagex had to listen/realise there was benefit to be had by responding.

 

All assumptions with no basis in fact other than speculation.

Again I DID NOT SAY IT WAS BAD. I do not where you are getting this idea I am saying listening to complaints is bad from I am saying simply put Jagex DOES listen as proven by 07scape hence complaining is a GOOD way to go in annoyance of the quest delay.

 

I simply said we have proven it works therefore it is the perfect course of action seeing as they delayed out quest for 07scape.

 

And yes it may be assumptions, but answer me this: If there is a simple, normal reason the quest has been delayed why not address it properly in the video intro (as they have done previously) and why not tell us nicely on fb and twitter rather than trying to glaze over it and ignore it? There is no reason to if there is a valid, non-promise breaking explanation.

 

As proven? I can guarantee you the protests regarding wilderness/free trade were much more ferocious than the protests about EOC (bare in mind people weren't actually asking for 07scape, they just didn't want EOC) and you can see how well whining worked in that case. Whining doesn't work, period. Having a legitimate complaint that Jagex can remedy is what works. If they didn't have a back up of 2007, I doubt they would've done anything. It was opportunity, not whining, that brought 2007scape here.

 

If Jagex actually really cared enough to try and keep it a secret that it was 07 causing the delay, do you really think they'd be above lying and just blaming development issues? I don't. I'm not saying 2007 didn't cause the delay, I'm just saying we don't know so don't put forth that assumption as if it's incontrovertible fact, because it isn't. Unless you're making the assertion that no quest has ever been delayed before this?

Edit. This is why they cancelled BTS years ago in the first place. I guess the best way go about this is to cancel BTS again, so nobody knows what is in the pipeline, and if something gets pushed back a week, people aren't losing years off their life from blood pressure spikes.

I'm starting to think maybe its more then ready to go and they just haven't released it yet to increase the "hype" around this shit. Can't take their baby out of the spot light can we.

People complained about FT removal a looooong time before it was eventually brought back in. The basic reality is that a massive majority of RuneScapers (I wasn't part of that majority, myself) wanted Free Trade to return, and it suited Jagex as a company to bring it back in. Same here with 07scape, without the majority part, but still with significant enough to support to milk the cash cow while it's there.

 

Jagex don't necessarily respond to whining, it just suits their aims as a company to do so every now and then.

Oh, and you think it was just the three or so years of complaining that got free trade back instead of Jagex making their own decision in their own time? With this recent update, fair enough, I'll admit it very well could've been the complaining that made Jagex realise they could make some GP from people who don't like EOC (I imagine they took a huge hit in membership when it came out, I know I cancelled both of mine). But free trade was definitely on their own time and it was completely out of the blue for us.

 

Complaining voices your objections, of course it works if the company has an open ear. but does it make the company act upon it? That's up for debate. I'd say more often than not it doesn't with Jagex.

Bigger as in enlarging the java applet window, as in zooming in. Not as in now it is now. Because how it is now does not make things like text bigger.

After i got out of tutorial island there was a group of people complaining about how Jagex was just a greedy company and they should have made it a 2011 server.

It is possible by setting the system resolution lower. That is what I'm talking about, and I need a way to do this without changing my 23 inch monitor to a 4:3 aspect ratio. You don't understand, so stop trying to help.

Yep, not going to touch RS 2007, have fun with it all, I am not replaying my RS career again.

I just spent a ridiculous amount of time fishing shrimp, only to burn nearly all of them. Also had to run for my life from a lvl 26 guard. I... I don't think I can do all of this again...

 

Also, the game crashed about half an hour in and when I tried to log in again, I couldn't type my username or password. Yay Macs.

 

Whining aside, I enjoyed the trip down nostalgia/memory lane.

It's interesting that Jagex is allowing duel log-in with the caveat that you can be on RS '07 using one account and RS main using another account potentially paying $24 a month to play the game. It also read like they would have allowed you to use one account, but the system can't handle that at the moment and not likely to be looked at for some time if at all. Minor note as not many will have two active member accounts. There will be die hards that level two characters at once. I can also see it being a method for cross server merchants to handle trades more efficiently. Not the best thing in the world, but trust trades are a part of both times.

 

By the way, I like that real merchants will make a resurgence in RS '07. These guys put in a lot of work collecting small amount of resources to sell in bulk amount at a premium price. The GE removed their use and brought on the stock traders we see today.
