Cannibal corpse aren't REAL, in my opinion they just rely on their reputation to sell albums. Stupid lyrics + album covers apparently means your heavy.

You should try Enslavement Of Beauty for the black metal. They're apparently melodic black metal or something (and if anybody replies trying to correct me saying "no lol their hxc orcestral deathcore metla" I will take off my (virtual) shoe and (virtually) beat you with it.)

 

Children of Bodom, Opeth, Hypocrisy, Norther and In Flames are also pretty good. I'm guessing they're all a bit death metal-y.

 

 

 

As for thrash, try Pantera, (early) Megadeth and Overkill.

 

 

 

"Original metal", whatever that is, try Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Tool etc.

 

 

 

I also suggest that you check out Rush. They're more rock-y though, but pretty awesome.

That's the only way to broaden your horizons. Something I have not done in a long time. And besides, its good to know that this music exists and that you expirienced it.

I can't speak for all black metal bands, but Enslavement Of Beauty don't have those growly vocals. If they had, I wouldn't be listening to them. They have a more throathy approach. Very good.

 

 

 

"Megalomania" is supposed to be their best album, so if you're getting one, I'd advice getting that.

No it isn't. You can't hate summit til you've heard it, and once you've heard it you either like it or hate it. I never hated 'metal' bands, but when I heard em, I liked em so I got into em. I never hated em or forced myself to like em. Isn't that called a 'poseur'?

Strapping Young Lad and The Red Chord are 2 of the best bands around right now, try those. Strapping Young Lad have a number of albums but I'd recommend either the self-titled release or City. The Red Chord only have 2 albums, Fused Together in Revolving Doors and Clients. Fused Together... is their first release, a lot more experimental with awesome drumming and brutal vocals. They 'mellowed' out a bit on Clients, I use that term loosely though. It's still brutal and it rules, but it's not as experimental. I blame that a lot on the mass of line up changes between the 2.

 

 

 

If you want some early thrash try Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican. A lot of people say Pantera ripped off Exhorder but I've never agreed. Most of the people who say it are just Exhorder fan-boys who are bitter that Pantera succeeded after Exhorder broke up. Exhorder are awesome, though. Definitely worth checking out.

Black metal is more high pitch vocals, death is the low pitch. None of the BM bands i listed have low pitch vocals.

How could you guys like any kind of bands named like "Carcass" or "Blood Bath" or "Cannibal Corpse?" I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but seriously =|. You have to have something messed up in the head if you listen to that disgusting "music" if you ask me. Can someone please explain to me how that can be pleasing to the ears? I'm trying to be open to other styles of music I just can't comprehend how you could like bands like these.

Because, noobass, the band's name doesn't really effect the music.
