Uldric
It's a real shame, Pluto will be missed. Looks like it might be replaced by Xena though, but I can't see many people taking Pluto off the solar system for a while.

Icingdeath
This is just stupid. Just keep the damn planet(err...floating ball of non-planetness) defined as an actual planet. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways. ThurinEthir
I heard that there may be 20 planets by the end of September...I don't know if it's true or not, it's just dumb, who cares if it's a planet or not? It's not like it affects us, as long as we know it's there. My Very Educated Mother Served Us Nine Pizzas INTO My Very Educated Mother Served Us Noodles? indy500fan
This is just stupid. Just keep the damn planet(err...floating ball of non-planetness) defined as an actual planet. if they do that, they have to add if i recall correctly 17 more planets. so instead of having 9 like we did as of yesterday, we can have 8 or 26 (at least, could be more). they were wise and chose the 8 option. seems like they made a subcategory for pluto and those objects, which i didnt know they were going to do. ctp080188
I can imagine myself in about 50 years time telling my grandchildren, "there was a time when Pluto was considered a planet". Adam007
It's about time they did it. I know it's been a problem for awhile because there have been other rocky 'things' out there that deserved planet status more than Pluto but weren't given it. I think the option was to make planets have a broader classification - that's where you were hearing the possibility of there being 20+ planets, but they decided to go the other direction and just declassified Pluto as a planet. bjbj1991
Dang! I need to go back to second grade and relearn the solar system. I probly still have a big purple dot titled 'pluto' in my somewhere

assassin_696
Primary school children all over the world will be bamboozled by the new rhymes to remember the planets, other than that, is there a real point? DragonFirenze
Astronermers arent useless. You have no idea how incredibly hard it is to study the universe. Things are always changing, and always will change. The technology is getting better, therefore old theories have to be thrown out. Every single text book is out of date, even the ones printed a year ago. Its a very difficult but exciting field of study. Lvl 80 construction. gonpost
I never understood how it was difficult to remember the planets... I mean, hell, when I was in second grade, I knew all the plents, in order, what each of them looked like, their approximate distance relative from eachother, and a fact or two about each planet. I still do know these things. All it takes is looking at a map of the solar system for a few minutes and that should be it... Anywho, I guess that taking pluto off the planet list is ok. However, I'm sure that most of the population will still consider pluto to be a planet for the sake of ease and practicality despite this new change. Runescape Name: "unbug07"Expand your mind. Icingdeath
If they had to change the whole damn system around and add a bunch more planets to qualify Pluto as one, why didn't they just NOT add those other planets?
