~~~~Wakka Blog~~98/99 Woodcutting~~MY RETURN AGAIN~~~~~
Featured Replies
I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but it's time to throw in the towel.
I've talked it over with my mom and I've finally come to a realization of how addicting this game really is. People in my neighborhood have labeled me as being completely antisocial, I don't know how to communicate with people well, and the amount of time I spend playing takes up too much of my life. This game is a drug, and just like any other drug it causes problems to those around you. I've also begun to see this gaming habit in my brother. He plays Warcraft 3 online and he is only 8 years old, however he often neglects to go to places that would seem lots of fun to any 8 year old. Examples being the movies, or white water, or six flags. I don't want this fate for me or my brother so I've decided to kick the habit completely.
I only have this problem with online games so I will still use my xbox 360 when I get some free time, my username is "wakka102" on there. I will still get on tif to post sometimes and stay in touch with friends. I will be keeping everything I have in my bank as well as selling the remainder of the nature runes I've made bringing me to about 40-45m which I'll place into rares.
I may return someday when I can better cope with the amount of time spent playing, but there is a history of addicts in my family to various things and I unfortunately have picked up the gene. I love all my friends here and hope that you're lives are all wonderful and fulfilling.
Happy Scaping,
Wow the great Wakka quitting. Yeah this game is really addictive, but as soon as this game is taking a toll on your social life. It's enough.
Goodluck irl. :D
Never thought I'd see this happen, or at least so quickly :shock:
I remember reading a post from you on this topic http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=673873 just 2 days ago.
I quote:
I've learned to embrace the addiction ::' . Haven't quit so far and I don't plan to.
Oh well, you were a great friend Wakka and I'm sure you'll be missed by many.
Even though it's just a game you can be proud of what you've achieved.
I'm not good at writing long texts so I'll leave it to this lol.
Enjoy real life, it's better than RuneScape anyway, and a 99 there will help you alot more than on here. :)
Quoted for truth, wisest thing I've heard anyone say on Runescape.
I loved your editorials and your blog as well, but you got a point there, about rs being a drug. I'm still in the denyial phase where I don't want to give everything up, but anytime soon I'll have to 'throw in the towel'.
It's a shame that a player that has achieved so much and some in a very short space of time has decided to quit. However, you know what is best for you and your family, etc and you've probably made the right decision.
Good luck in whatever comes your way irl and I wish you the best :)
The whole time I was mowing the lawn just now, I thought about you wakka, and I came up with the best advise I can. Have Balance
Balance is the key to this game and anything like it. You have already done so much, quiting now would be cheating yourself.
It truly is possible to have a fulfilling childhood, with runescape as part of it. Just limit yourself to 2 hours a day during school, 3 hours or so on weeked days, and mabey 5 hours a day in the summer, but only in the morning and late evenings.
I hope you consider just cutting back, and not giving up completly.
You've always been an inspiration to me.. Your willpower to take on a skill and stick with it to the end. I never really knew you, but I've been to all of your parties from agility -> magic. I love the way you skill, and someday I hope that I'll be able to do the same thing, and finally get a 99. You will be truly missed, good luck in real life. <3: :D
You've made a wise decision. Using your time in real-life is much better than using it in a game. And for doing this for your brothers sake to resque him from wasting his time in games is really honorable.
I sometimes wish I could quit to, but I have to many friends here and I'd allways end up coming back.
I wish you and your brother a good life. :)
I'm sad and happy at the same time. You made the right decision, but even though I don't know you personally, it's sad to see you go.
I can only say one more thing: "Good Luck in real life!"
When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done.
I know you hate me now, but this was the right decision to do, year and a half ago, i had the exact same problem and realised i was blowing my life to stick around playing this game, instead of going to he beach because i needed 20k slayer xp, or i didnt go out with friends on friday because i needed to go pking with clan.
its a smart thing to do, in a few months you'll probobly come back with alot more strict way of playing the game, ex. playing ONLY in free time when someone asks to go out or calls you, basically your off within seconds.
I know greed go the better of me, but I really dont care for this game anymore, takeing others cash/items was wrong but i just felt like takeing a shot at stakeing winning some cash...didnt work. anyway i got myself banned (asked for cash back from jagex) now im in 300 days negative credit and am banned until i pay it off, but that'll be never.
enjoy real life, and playing some xbow.
Aww wakka. ='(
Runescape is a drug, but a fun one=p. Always sad to see a scaper and tifer go, even worse when that person you've been spamming their blog up.
Good Luck in w/e real life serves you, and I'll be sure to travel and buy a burger from you. ^^
Good luck wakka, i think you've made a good choice, in that you have had the guts to take a big breath, and realise RS is not your life.
Gl with rl, i hope you have a fantastic time, and give those people who call you anti-social a kick up the arse =D
Good luck ^^
Thanks for this blog, it was fun reading it, and good luck with real life!
well... in one way, it's sad to see you go, as so many others have said
but in another way, I, and most others here can see that it's really the best thing... this game is really addicting, and it's hard to keep a controlled gameplay...
I'm back to f2p for some months now.. and to be honest, i kind of hope that i'll get bored of it... and i'm getting more and more social of myself... going out a lot,... playing with my band (not as much now though... when everyone's gone for vacation:()
ah well.. i wish both you, and your brother all well in life... =) just pop in here sometimes, will ya?
thats the exact reason that I am quitting. I have an addiction to this game unfortunatly and there cannot be balance for me. Some people have the ability to do that but I can't. The first few days I'd play 2 hours, then i'd go a little over and it would continue like that until I'm back to were I was. I can't stand to watch my 8 yr old brother become arrogant towards my parents and not wanting to do anything because of a game. I just gotta let it go.
Thanks for all the comments guys. I won't be leaving tip.it and sometimes I will login to talk to people. Probably monday or tuesday I'll get on to sell some things and buy a few rares to store.
It's good to see that you apologized and admit that greed got the better of you and for that i can forgive you. But it's not so much me you should apologize too but ugafan. None the less, its still good to see.
thanks alot for that :)
I'll probably just sell my bulk items, like my full guthans and all really quick in world 2. After all the sales I should be able to 2-3 rares (green masks or santas depending on how much I have). Hopefully if I ever come back I'll be very well off :wink:
Got invited to a party by a bunch of 18 year old girls at my favorite restaurant, hopefully that will be alot of fun :D :D
