January 30, 200719 yr no u just call us narrow minded cus u cant see the light. i am sick of it. Please understand that you don't know that, you believe it. No one knows the Truth. Anyways, if anyone did they'd probably have commited suicide by now. OPEN UP YOUR MIND. January 30, 200719 yr i think the athiests are the ones that are treated poorly. Whenever someone I know finds out I am athiest they treat me as if I'm sick and need there help, or that I am a bad and evil person. The religious orders get too much respect, at least here in the South. It's a highly religious society in general down here. Your post, in a way, is biased. You say if the athiests are wrong they will burn in hell. Sounds a little rude to me :wall: . I'm starting to feel the sort of hate and refusal to acknowledge the beliefs and opinions of others, such as: im only doing it for ur own good since the way ur all headed is straight to hell. Is it really that hard to acknowledge the beliefs and opinions of others even if you don't believe them. You don't have to bash others just because they think differently than you. Besides, if everyone believed the same thing would it be a better world? If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn't thinking.

Carlin is one in a thousand... most Christians are pretty accepting of other people's belief, especially now that the Catholic Church has been moving towards teaching both Catholics and people of other religions using less of a religious tone. It's a good thing too, I have a bad habit of shutting my mind off as soon as someone starts talking about Jesus and God in their arguments. January 30, 200719 yr Carlin, didn't God or Jesus or someone tell you to love thy neighbor and respect each other's beliefs? I guess you're not very loyal to God, are you? Wow, a hypocritical Christian. How unusual...
January 30, 200719 yr Why you people even respond to Carlin's posts is beyond me. You know it's not going to accomplish anything so why waste your energy?
January 30, 200719 yr no u just call us narrow minded cus u cant see the light. i am sick of it. What light would that be? Sorry to say this but you are exactly the kind of person who makes athiests and whoever else persecute Christians - if, actually, they're unfairly persecuted at all. The kind of religious person (and I have nothing against religious people per se) who tries to get others to believe things they don't want to believe. In that process you and the others who argue against you create a tense and negative atmosphere. You have no proof for God's existence, and we have no proof for God's unexistence. (sp lol?) You have no grounds for attempting to force us to believe in your religion. As far as I'm concerned that's extremely immature and you can't see past the end of your own nose. No offence. im only doing it for ur own good since the way ur all headed is straight to hell. besides, we are so complex its clear we were designed. i did not evolve from a monkey. Give me solid concrete proof, and I'll start going to church. I'll pray every day, call myself a Christians, and not eat fish on Fridays.
January 30, 200719 yr Why you people even respond to Carlin's posts is beyond me. You know it's not going to accomplish anything so why waste your energy? True. Is it just me, or is Carlin just the new plx? I.e., some guy looking for the title of "King of Riots". Never going to beat plx/"0 phathead 0" Carlin, if that's what you're going for. [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.
January 30, 200719 yr You're right, however Carlins comments just annoy and even go against his own beleif. He even said Jesus wrote the bible. Among other things such as anyway, if u get too upset by it just remember that we will be in heaven while they r burnin in hell. u cant blame us. it is frustrating to see ppl who just cant see how things are even when its this simple. it makes us think there kinda thick tbh. And this best by far: Carlin, love thy neighbour. (If anyone needs to find me, I'll be in level seven of Dante's Inferno.) none of these ppl are my neighbors, i bet i live in a different country to most of them!! If religious texts where aloud in signatures i would have that one indefinatley. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
January 30, 200719 yr Responding to the original post... As long as this forum demands reason and evidence be brought to debates... I'd say it's getting the treatment it deserves.
January 30, 200719 yr Author Satenza, I think the moderators could care less if you have that in your signature. I think it's just against things like "Jesus saves." Well it could be viewed as offensive to some people, and likewise to the religious people (ban about religious text in signature). But it wouldn't hurt to just put that quote in there. It's basically a funny thing someone has said. And yes he did contradict himself. He is taught to love [his neighbor] yet he says that none of the people here are his neighbors which refers to basically anyone as being your neighbor. I just tried to ignore his posts to keep the riot down. I myself am Christian but I do agree with people about Carlin. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
January 30, 200719 yr It just bothers me how people say "Oh my God. " :( I mean you don't see people walking around saying "Oh my Buddha." I play World Of Warcraft.(http://www.worldofwarcraft.com) Draka [Alliance] Squeeky Mage

January 31, 200719 yr It just bothers me how people say "Oh my God. " :( I mean you don't see people walking around saying "Oh my Buddha." Monotheistic religions like Christianity, Islam and Judaism have just had a bigger impact on the expressions of western culture. It's ironic how atheists will sometimes use terms with God in them without realizing... certain expressions are just so widely used the religious connection is often forgotten or ignored.
January 31, 200719 yr It just bothers me how people say "Oh my God. " :( I mean you don't see people walking around saying "Oh my Buddha."i do that occationally
January 31, 200719 yr Buddha sounds a lot more caring that God. I'd never curse against Buddha! Really though, i say Oh My God occassionally, i'm atheist but still it makes me feel like i am disgracing someones religion even though i do not mean to say it. January 31, 200719 yr I'd only use 'Oh my God' if like my brother died... it's just so... feminine. Those sweet sixteen girls destroyed the phrase. Get your pitchforks, let's kill 'em! January 31, 200719 yr Yes, i thought thats what he meant i just wanted to give a different input. In a way we do create God regardless of existance or not. We assign qualities too the essance of God which may not be true. As I said, we may create the idea of God, because unlike existence, merely thinking can create ideas. But if God really does exist, our ideas and thoughts have no bearing on his actual characteristics.
January 31, 200719 yr Locke, I may not always agree with what you say, but you are officially the most awesome and mature poster in the OT :P. Username and sig only add to the greatness. January 31, 200719 yr In my opinion, alot of people who dislike or do not believe in christianity did not study it enough to get the real answer God is saying. Alot of Gods words are interupted into something God himself did not mean. Even Christians can do this, were only human.. such as when Churchs denounce people to wear makeup because it was in the Bible. However, all God was saying is "your beauty is on the inside, not the out, so why are you trying so hard on the outside?". If you really read and dig deep into the bible, you will begin getting answers for those that you couldn't understand previously before. Many people mistakes Gods actions for what they really are or were. Events that have been taken place in the bible have been mislead to what they really where. I'll give you a prime example.. and you can hate me for this because you don't believe it but it doesn't change the truth. When you think of Abraham going up the hill to kill his son Isac.. i'm pretty sure your thinking of a sad father.. about to stab his only son in the heart in the name of God.. right? This is what the movies has all lead us to believe.. since we seen it on the scene.. and has led many confused why God would even ask Abraham to do this. However, because this was not what really happen.. it has confused millions and lead to tons of misleadings. If you truely sit down and read about Ahraham.. he was a man of faith. For 20 years, his faith was unwavering in God.. God favored him so much that he said he would make his descendants more than you could count the sand on the beach or the stars in the sky! AKA ALOT OF PEOPLE! So a man filled with so much undoubtful faith is now crawling slowly up a hill with fear and sweating palms? Unsure if he is going to recieve that promise, although he did recieve a promise of his son? No! He's walking up that hill with a smile on his face, faith filled, knowing it doesn't matter if his son dies, Gods gonna turn his ashs back into his living son so he can have what God promised! Tons of Descendants after him! This man was FULL of Faith.. not FULL of fear or doubt. Many people do not understand the events or scriptures in the bible.. so when they are told to people that is not the truth.. and the people "try it".. and it doesn't work.. guess what? The bible "must not be true!". When all along, its just all misunderstood. The only way to know for "sure" you got the right answer is to back scripture with scripture. Playing Connect the Dots. When one backs another, and another.. and another.. you know you got it! Then use it in your life, and watch it come to pass. It has for me SEVERAL times! :D ~Defender~ If you love me, send me a PM. 8 - Love me2 - Hate me
January 31, 200719 yr *waits for Tigra to respond to Defender in a rant against the Bible* Though I'm no fan of overusing Faith (faith which nearly killed Isaac over some ludicrous father's guess at what God wanted him to do..) I agree that the Bible has many great meanings that need to be examined. Also (I'm not sure if you were saying this) I believe that most atheists need to spend a bit more time studying the reasons WHY religions believe in a God, instead of just bashing them and resisting with science and logic- not examining the other side of the belief. There's more behind it than "there has to be a God", or "everything's so pretty and shiny, something must have made it!". January 31, 200719 yr I ponder... If humans were not intelligent enough to write, would God still 'exsist'? Irrelevant. Not even close to irrelevance...If it were never written, does God still exist? Does he? If it was never written to be passed on from person to person, does he still exist? It seems irrelevant to you because you have this cloud around you that disallows you from asking weither or not God actually exists. You've been raised to believe, nay, to know that he does. But if the Bible was never written, does God still exist? That's a pretty good question, actually. You just can't answer it. And Barihawk, that wasn't flaming of spelling. That was me actually committing the unforgivable sin of typoing. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
January 31, 200719 yr Not even close to irrelevance...If it were never written, does God still exist? Does he? If it was never written to be passed on from person to person, does he still exist? Christians believe not only that the bible is the divinely inspired word of god, but that people learned to write through gods grace and mercy. Sometimes he gets pissed at our stupidity. Like when we built the tower of babel, he punished us by splitting us into people of different languages. I wonder what god thinks about the internet, the massive connectivity of the world today? Probably nothing. God doesn't think, he's omnipotent, he exists in all time and space. So Christianity is as self-defeating as nhilism, only less sexy.

But if the Bible was never written, does God still exist? That's a pretty good question, actually. You just can't answer it. I think your brain just can't comprehend how putting a pen to paper is irrelevant to a transcendent being existing. Like seriously; someone writes "God did this", and all of a sudden God exists? Give me a break. Just because someone has the idea of God it doesn't mean that God exists and just because someone doesn't have the idea of God it doesn't mean that God doesn't exist. I honestly can't believe you don't understand how thought is irrelevant to existence.
