The rudeness that has plagued Rs (not a rant)

Okay Soz I just beat recipe for disaster and desert treasure this weekend... So in between barrow runs I walk around showing off my ancient magiks... And I just teled glory to al-kharid and am walking through the warriors and I see a lvl like 22 guy and he's killing some warriors. I say hey how are you? He says like fine so i'm like kk and start killing the warriors with ice burst and this lvl 41 guy comes in and calls the lvl 22 guy a noob who needs to get better stats..... And that just pulled a nerve on me.. I start yelling at him how rude and disrespectful it was.... I said I'm lvl 88 your 41 I could call you a noob cuz i'm 47 lvls above you but i don't... Wanna know why??? It's called general respect for other people/players....

And it reminded me of all the rudeness that has plagued Runescape. So many times rich people have made fun of poor people. High lvls make fun of low lvls.... I'm not saying that all rich and high lvl people make fun of but so many times I'll come to like a fire giant spot for slaya task and there is this lvl 120 and I say hi then he or she will say go away noob I don't talk to low lvls.....

And I'm just wondering why does everyone have to be so rude??? Just enjoy the game and encourage the poor/low lvl people to get better....

Anyone have any thoughts about this????

jerks all over runescape.....i remember wehn i was a lvl 40 on my old accound i saved up 25 for a rune scimi and got scammed =(....i ahte the jerks too.....i went to kill fire giants today and this lvl 106 keeps shutting the door on me and says...switch worlds noob.so i didnt switch wolrds...i left

Totally Agreed! Today I was standing around Falador and this 72 asked me if I could walk him ALL the way to freminik so he could start the quest. So I walked him ALL the way to Freminik and around camelot a 67 asks him if he can buy his rune kite and he responds "N00b! get away from me n00b!" This was totally unneccasary (sp?) and I blew up. I was like "Show some respect! What if I had done that to you in Falador?! You'd still be sitting there begging for people to walk you all this way! If you want kindess shown to you show it to others!"

like during green drags this level 89 with ancitens was telling this level 70 that hes a noob and to attack him

and they were arguing...

so to end it i kill the level 89 and gave half to 70 because the 89 was anoying him alot

(only got zerker, rune legs and dds)

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I could not help but think "is he not being on a similar level (in terms of politeness, or lack thereof) of the person who was caling others "noob"? I do not mean disrespect, and I shoved the thought out of my mind, but I think the same things.

I must say, however, that anyone who is so rude to lowere levels, or poorer people deserves a tounge-lashing.

I'm no 120 but even at 111 I like to talk to lower levels and help answer their questions and it still confused me that when i start talking back they are amazed and tell me that most people my level wont answer. I just have to remember that we were all that level at some point.

Just to offer a little arguement from the other side. IF you look at my sig i have played this game for 5 years...after 5 years of dealing with idiots in this game, you tend to generalize. I am much quicker to reply harshly or criticially, now mind you i'm not walking around calling people noobs, but if you start stealing my kills while training in a multi zone or try starting a convo about pokemon I am VERY quick to tell you off then /ignore.

After 5 years of hearing the same mind-numbing, un-inspired, un-intelligent conversation from younger players...it gets to you and eventually you will find yourself ignoring public chat and instead talking in mostly jsut private chat with friends.

Very well said and I agree with what you say here. I have lots and lots of people say " Wow you said Hi to me" or "I never had a high level talk to me before. It's a game !! Peoples levels should not mean nothing. I treat people with respect and I expect the same from them. When someone says Hi to me I respond with a Hello ( unless of course I missed the Hi). I find it rude when people can't even respond with a simple Hello. Like you said we were all lower levels at one time we are no better then the lower levels just have more game time in us and more experience is all.

BTW: Please do not turn this into a Rant, or I may have to move it.

Well most of the time ill be nice to every one f2p and p2p, but I did call this one kid a noob for selling a rune med for 100k yes, a RUNE MED. But that's all I did, just called him a noob and went on with my life.

Psh, when I talk to people, I don't look at their combat level, or what they're wearing. It's all about the person.

Dude, compared to all the backstabbing and scamming going on, rudeness is the least of our problems :| .

i am higher than most levels. Alot of time i feel like calling them a noob or whatever...but it's only when they ask to be friends then ask for free stuff or something I get this alot when mining essence, it does get really annoying but i just use my trusty ignore button :thumbsup:

its no longer incredible to be over level 100. There are tens of thousands of people that are over level 100, and many of them are rude [wagon] (sorry for that). While you would think the opposite, many are scammers and lurers for reasons that i dont know, and it just makes me want to quit runescape. The ONLY good people are the people at tip.it. If you go to the main runescape forum, it is bedridden with tons of newbies and people who dont know jack about being nice or anything. I honestly can't trust anybody there. I was able to ask on tip.it if anyone would make my potions for me that i couldnt make, and i was able to trust them to take it, make it, and give it back without a trust trade. I would NEVER do that over the main forums, because most people are horrible people. Also whenever new updates come out, the majority of the people in the world are where the new update is (aluft gianni jr's place, or brimstails cave are examples). You can see for yourself there what runescape has become. People there yell at each other, refuse to help each other, call people noobs, etc. I asked one guy for some help on the recent quest and he just called me a noob and left. The only reason i still play rs is for the people at tip.it

2. the only people who should ever be called noobs are macros who think they can cheat there way through the game

I think noob is a very overused insult. The word noob wasn't even around before MMORPGS were invented.

So, noob has been overused by the large amount of 11-12 year olds on rs. Its very sad that immature little jerks are ruining a great game. Infact, one person I saw calling me a nub once (he was 10 lvls higher) is now a "nooblet" to me....So i know what you are saying.

Well, ch00bs are just irritating high lvl people who are noobish and act as if they dont now the rules. Sooo if you get a lvl 75+ say "fudge u u st00pid little n00b" that is a perfect example.

Most of the time when I have a conversation with higher lvls, I find that they are nice to talk to. If I find someone who is rude when I talk to them then then I put them on my ignore list for a while.
