  1. Oh, this thread will get locked, alright. Here's a quick reasoning: With Lightning gone, no one new can be added to the moderation list, and no one can really moderate the channel anymore. Kind of a devil-may-care situation in there, so if you enter, enter knowing that there is no one to stop idiots like that.
  2. Only by definition are partyhats not technically discontinued, but you sure are arguing semantics here. The only way to get a partyhat (Cracker) is a discontinued function, and while there are some Christmas Crackers still out there, their number doesn't go up. So in effect, it's an item that's not technically discontinued that comes from an item that is discontinued. Ergo, it's commonly perceived as discontinued. Do you follow?
  3. 1. Much of Java is derived from C++. Anyone taking a Java course or studying Java could probably half-[wagon] C++ without too many errors, and vice-versa. All you need is a compiler for C++ and a Runtime Environment for Java. 2. No one said that this game would be client based. Hell, there aren't many details on the new game "Mechscape" as is. Refrain from speculating; don't want your bubble to burst too early. 3. "Superior" gameplay is subjective; some people like a challenge (puzzle), others like real-time strategy, and the select few like to build up empires/cities or earn cash specifically in a game. I find Starcraft and Diablo II superior to RuneScape, but only in gameplay. I even find C&C Generals: Zero Hour superior, but that's only because it's an RTS element. 4. Don't you realize that this is off-topic of the thread? Sure, he's talking about Mechscape coming out, but he also attributes that to the "decline and decay" of RuneScape. If you can't stick to that line, don't try and post. Try not to talk when you don't understand half of what you're saying, okay? Kinda makes you look foolish.
  4. You know, had you have taken this situation with a lot more patience instead of blowing up, you'd probably have your account back. I also think that CS reads these forums; cursing them out isn't going to be the fastest way to get your stuff back, you know.
  5. Okay, first of all, Wikipedia isn't that accurate. Anyone could go there anonymously and edit up any article they saw fit with whatever details they saw fit. I don't see how this explains a lot, since it's just something they're working on. An example is that Blizzard is working on Starcraft 2, but they're also developing a World of Warcraft expansion (I don't know how many are out now, never played.) Does this mean that they've turned their back on either community? No, just means that they're at work. Second of all, it's easy to use speculation and rumor to explain the cause of various "broken" or "incomplete" aspects of the game. It's very easy to say that Jagex doesn't care and just continues along its merry course. However, it's very difficult to come into the realization that they've got more than one project brewing at any given moment, and that these projects have to be checked against other projects, and those other projects need to be drawn up, tested, re-tested, and so forth until it's ready. Then it gets put at the end of a very very long queue and will wait there, sometimes for as long as five years (evident with Construction). If patience isn't your virtue, then it's time for you to move on. Third, if you realize that the game is in Java, then you should also realize that its graphics are revolutionary for its time. You find a game that has the kind of flexibility that RuneScape has (doesn't really matter what OS it runs on as long as it has a JRE) and runs as well over a 56K modem. The list is really short since games like that are seriously hard to come by, but what Jagex has done with RuneScape's graphics is something good in its own right. Customer service is customer service; after dealing with whiny brats after four hours, you're begging to get off the computer and have it take over for a while. Seriously, we don't give CS as much credit as they are due. They put up with players that cross all spectrums [including yourself], and still manage to have a sense of humor every now and then. If you can't give them an iota of respect for putting up with half the crap they take on a daily basis, then you don't need to be attacking them. One more thing -- you don't know how much effort, exactly, is being invested into RuneScape. With a project or game as big as RS, 100% of the company's attention is never going to be properly vested in it; that's divvied up with CS, bug fixing, community feedback, autoer patrol and mass bannings, and development. Suppose they took out the community feedback part; would that prove to you that they're working harder or would that give you even more ammo? If you think you're really that worthless, then why the hell haven't you left yet? If you feel that you could be replaced by ten brats, then what does that make you? Valuable? I don't know, I haven't seen you been a 'valuable' customer yet. But then again that's the typical buzz when it comes to most RS players; the "gimmie-more" attitude and when something takes just a little longer to get done, a tantrum ensues. If November is your last straw with this game, why wait? Chances are you'd be disappointed with the BTS and grumble your way through another month.
  6. You do know how the ring works, right? If you don't, let me summarize: The ring will only activate if a hit knocks you below 10% of your remaining hitpoints, but does not knock you out, meaning if you had 4 or 5 or even 8 hitpoints remaining, it would activate. I'm figuring you didn't know, so keep in mind that knowledge is power. The KB exists for a reason; go study what items you have and know what they do before ranting about a feature that doesn't exist in the first place.
  7. Knock on wood. I'm dead serious. Rule 11 actually is quite beneficial to the community, since it keeps people from advertising their bot programs, their gold-trading sites, and most of all, it keeps fansites from getting a leg-up on others from having a boost of advertisement in-game. (Word of mouth served 'em well for nigh on seven years; why should it steer them wrong now?)
  8. If your fun gets ruined by a slightly off-color hood in a game, then you need a new hobby. The hood is fine. Learn to like it or there might not be a Christmas.
  9. For whatever reason, I think I might actually have fun ripping this thread apart. There's a lot of baseless accusations here, and some very serious untruths that need to be corrected. Here we go. Typically, the age limit is set to notify parents that the game may be too mature (or not mature enough) for their kid. There isn't much to make a concerned parent freak out over RuneScape, and it does sometimes convey that the community (not the game!) use mild language, either infrequent or every third word; just depends on where you are at any given moment. What's been happening recently is that a lot of players are starting to resent the younger players in this game, almost as if they were a disease. To me that sounds like xenophobia, or even pedophobia. Just because they're younger doesn't mean that they can't play a game that's supposed to be rated for a higher audience. Besides, the stuff that makes it so ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åhigḫ̢̢ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Barbarian Fishing: While it maybe faster, it is a lot less convenient to bank/sell your fish. Arguably, with the store just steps away as opposed to dropping all 26 of the fish you catch at one time, Shilo could be seen as faster. Mahogany is much better experience, and cashwise it can make a pretty penny. However, there's not nearly as much of a market for Mahogany as there is Yew, so it only makes sense to be cutting Yew. If you had of spent some time outside of grinding these skills, you would know these things.

The only "truth" that I can find here in this post is that it almost mirrors the recent rants that you so passionately hate. Everything else is a flaming lie. It's been said enough times to make a sports announcer hoarse: levels do not under any circumstance indicate intelligence or knowledge of the game. Fansites with tons of information and player feedback are a dime a dozen. The Knowledge Base has information about most everything, and if there's a gap there, a fansite most certainly has the answer. It isn't hard for someone to spend a few hours reading up on the site(s) and getting enough information. They may have not had the experience of doing it themselves, but at least they are aware. It only takes a day to get "actual experience" of the game. This experience comes not in the form of grinding out twenty-three or more skills, but dealing with most kinds of players you'll run into. If you believe that experience in certain skills is the only way to gain experience in this community or game, then my friend, you have a very limited perception of the community. Take a walk outside; you could use the fresh air. Sure is stuffy just getting aggravated with all of these "useless" posts, eh?
  12. You don't know how annoying it is when someone comes in and claims something that never belonged to them in the first place as their own, and then passionately defends it as if it were their right to breathe. It's just a game. A game is more fun with more people around. If you're the loner type, maybe the MMO realm isn't for you.
  13. You've just insulted myself, and most every high level. I also feel that beyond this point you've lost all credibility for your rant, so... Have a nice day. I'll be sure not to forget a tinderbox if I run into you in Castle Wars.
  14. I find your logic strange. I get tons of nests every time I collect on Miscellania, and I'm quite sure that many other players that collect (over 3M+ in a period of 30 or more days) collect even more than I do. That being said, I don't see how bird nests are too rare. Outside from that, the examples you used are quite faulty -- Prayer and Super Restore potions are so expensive because they're in relatively high demand.
  15. Honestly, those people were [wagon] to you, and you did not deserve such treatment. You should be free to experiment in this game no matter what your level, and if those guys don't like it, then that's their problem. Take it with a grain of salt. In this game, there is only about 3% of people that are genuinely nice; the other 97% are looking for ways to belittle you so they can feel better about themselves.
  16. You're level 70, which could be considered "mid-level" by most. You finally find something that you like, which is Castle Wars. [Don't worry, RS is big; you'll find something else yet.] You like to burn 9 out of 10 available barricades just so you can have a little "maze" that only serves one purpose: self amusement. Sometimes it could bring the team glory, but the main thing is that there's always going to be someone with a tinderbox that works their way through. In this case, you consider everyone that didn't respect your maze a noob. Sorry, but that's hypocrisy (as most everyone has already said), and you don't need to complain about something as trivial as that. It's a shame that you told us not to tell you to "get over it", since that's what I'd have said about this line. But, it's a truth you're going to have to face whether or not you like it. Whenever you feel you're ready to, of course.
  17. I honestly do hate it when people start using little kids as the scapegoat for all the game's troubles... If one update doesn't cater to the higher (allegedly more mature) spectrum, it's said to go to the children; if it caters to the high levels, it's said to be too hard. The above was just one of many examples. Beggars are all ages, you know. If you claim that they don't know, why aren't you giving them the knowledge they so desperately need to survive the onslaught of snobs that look down on them, as if they were lepers or something? Do you think the Knowledge Base covers it all for them? What's wrong with giving a player on the other side of the spectrum (i.e. beggar, inexperienced) a helping hand to turn them around? Or are you content with just leaving them where they are so you have someone to pick on? Besides, if you can't deal with the kids (or beggars) that come into the game then you've got a problem. Either work with them or ignore them, but don't go telling me without any concrete proof that Miniclip is to blame.
  18. If you're not giving money directly to the organization, you ain't paying for jack. Advertisements make far less money than direct members contributions per person, hands down. Unless, that is, each advertisement provides 23 cents of funds (that's about the amount it costs to be a member on a daily basis)... Long story short, keep the payment debate out of here. A holiday isn't about who throws how much money at whom (wish it were me), it's about the fun of the event itself. Since both players had a right to be heard in the polls, their voices are equal and nothing should be able to undwedge that anomaly.
  19. Starting out with anything over 25GP on another account is not starting out equally. Having the money on your main account doesn't mean you can give the money to your pure and continue from there. It's still an unfair advantage since not everyone that level has a main that can give them obscene amounts of money. That rule is put there to ensure equality amongst players of similar levels, and to prevent players from using just one account to get tons of cash and not leveling up another account (which, entirely, was the point of creating that second account -- even PKers need to level up Hitpoints, you know...). I sure as hell don't. Got a problem with it?
  20. Don't apologize. I'm appalled too at how members are behaving and acting over something as trivial as a holiday event. They have no right to complain, at all, period. What is happening is that we're crying over spilled milk, and sooner or later we're going to be in for a rude awakening over it. The few bad apples have called down the thunder; now everyone is going to reap the whirlwind. [Yes I'm going to be saying that history will repeat itself again. I really believe that it will.]
  21. Since when were holidays "members only"? I'll tell you...never. No one player here has the right to say that Jagex should make holidays a members-only event, or that members should vote and decide the item/fate of an entire holiday. If you're making a feature for all players to enjoy, why would you get the opinion of the smaller group (as it stands, Freeplay > Members in terms of accounts)? By my math, the hood won by a fair bit more than 60 votes. Pull up that vote box and do the math again, if you please. I'd do it for you, but you need the practice anyway. ;) Either way it still won. Like JimmyMcNabb said, it won; doesn't matter if it's by 1 point or 100, it won. Live with it. I'd say this is the first case when the customer is actually wrong. Just because you pay does not entitle you to be a spoiled brat when freeplay finally gets their voice heard (and no, they don't get heard often). Besides, I'm okay with going with what the majority decides; that 1 million estimate sure as hell doesn't include me. It's always been lose-lose for Jagex. People just can't be content with what they get, or what is given to others. It's always going to be the "spotlight-must-be-on-me-or-I'll-shout" mentality, and the only way that this would be resolved would be to skip another Christmas. :-k
  22. I don't bother telling anyone about RuneScape. It's hard enough to prove various facts about the game to players that actually play; I see no sense in dragging innocent souls into the mix.
  23. This is a bit one-sided, but you shouldn't have given him the URL. Even if he didn't hear of the site, there's always Google.
  24. Now don't get me wrong; I'm just as practical as the next guy when it comes to buying things as opposed to doing it on your own. In truth, it's impractical of me to demand that players start harvesting massive amounts of raw items just to process them into goods. However, this is where the autoers thrive; what we won't do due to time constraints, they are more than happy to provide. Now I won't tell anyone that they all really need to get raw goods themselves, that's not fair/right/logical; I will say that it doesn't hurt to gather up some of your own resources.
  25. Don't go whining about something you received as both a charitable/fun event and a free item. It's honestly players that complain about something that's meant to be fun that spoil it up for the rest of us. If you have issues with it, lament in silence.
