If Jagex wanted to get rid of fansites I'm sure their first step would be removing the article they have in their Knowledge base. It states that it is ok to make fansites as well as information and advice to help them make the site good.

I started playing RuneScape in RS2 but I did go on classic, while everyone could, to see what it was like and I guess I was lucky because I can still go on it today. Even though I never go on it, I still do have access to it.
