Why is this tolerated?
Lets see, I live in Indiana. We make fun of people from Kentucky, as I'm sure the rest of America does too. I'm also sure that they like to poke fun at Indiana as well. Nothing wrong with that, unless you actually believe it. I like to poke fun at Canadia. Its not that I hate them, it's just in good spirit. Eh. And the only reason I do is because some of my best friends on RS are Canadian. Eh! Its ok when you don't actually believe what you say, and the other party understands that as well. If you can't have a sense of humor about yourself then you're in a bad position to have a sense of humor about others.

Your Lowest Level?
Pure F2P here, so 51 defense, followed by 65 attack. Everything else is above 70.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Exactly, and they only banned the ones that are used to glitch, like the turkey emote and skillcape emotes. I hate to ask, but could you enlighten us non-GOP players as to how you could abuse the game by using those emotes? I guess since it's been patched, the old information isn't classified. :P The glitch is called the six orb glitch. A player would join the yellow team, and before the portal opened would spam an emote. Skill cape emotes like construction were the easiest to time, but other emotes like the turkey emote would work just as well. The player would keep spamming the emote. As the game round went on, they would still be in the lobby. Their activity bar would not go down because they never entered the game. The would not be forced through the portal like other loiterers, because of their emote. Once the first round of the game was done, they would stop doing the emote. This is where it gets a little fuzzy, but entering the game late would cause everyone to replay the air altar instead of the mind altar. Players legitly in game would teleport straight back to the air altar. Any player that touched an orb in the first round would not be allowed to touch an orb in this second round (or something like that). Also, only one color of orb would spawn (yellow, always). Usually there would be 6-10 spawns instead of the normal 3, which would allow team to get massive scores (I'm talking 80's-90's, where the absolute max anyone ever got with three orbs was 57ish.) If they made it to the end of the game, they would get 4-5 full inventories of essence at double xp, which gave them an unfair advantage. Also, many people would played honestly would get booted from the game because they were not allowed to touch orbs or make barriers on this glitched round, giving them a 10 minute penalty and no tokens for their efforts. Also, I know for a fact that players did not get banned for this, I know who I reported for bug abuse and I know who I've seen since then. Wish I could name names, but I won't. One in particular is pretty famous for being a sab on a pro-gop list. I didn't like them very much before this, and the fact that they got away with this scott-free really upsets me.

Need help with a java error
Make sure your PATH variable is set correctly (I assume it is if you could get javac to run correctly). Also make sure you're in the correct directory when you try to run it. One thing that stumped me for a couple of days was when I was trying to get code to run on a linux box, to get MyClass.java to run, I had to type "java ./MyClass.class" instead of "java MyClass.class", you may have a similar situation. Also, I would recommend using Netbeans or Eclipse (unless you don't want to program in java ever again). JCreator is also nice if you're not into project based code, and want to hammer out a class real fast. Hope this helps.

Sharpened Weapons, Buffered Armour
Maybe, probably not though. An easy way around making it too powerful would be either remove the spec, or make it as powerful as the old spec (ignore the strength bonus). I'm still toying around with that idea. Also, honed or razor claws would definitely be bad combined with a special. Give me a few days to hammer this one out.
-
Sharpened Weapons, Buffered Armour
Sharpened Weapons are still untradable, but you're able to request assist now. They're also available with a shortened lifespan on PVP and BH, but degrade to scrap always. This should be a better balance than what I had before, and allows all players to take advantage of it (however, players with a higher smithing level won't have to find someone to help them out). @hedgehog I'll put in the update for dragon weapons once I can figure out the levels needed. It'll probably start somewhere around level 50-60.

Will 2010 continue to be a year of tweaks with little new content?
The one thing I wanted fixed last year wasn't. Whatever, GOP is still fun though buggy. I hope Jagex responds to my Q&A post about it, although that's probably like trying to win the lottery.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
<3 cpchris I'm in the process of getting 85 magic by means of superheating mithril, it'll get me 74 smithing as a bonus. F2P prayer is just unfair. There is nothing comparable in members to F2P prayer. Granted, we're F2P, so things should be harder. If you measure the fastest GP / hour, its still 3x-4x lower than many members options. Spending 500m on a skill that still requires 1 million clicks and is very, very, very slow to train is just unfair. There's no win with prayer.

Is the inflation really that bad?
I've been saying this for weeks, its an economic topic called the neutrality of money. One thing that's interesting to see is how the relationships between items don't change much. For instance, you don't lose money if you superheat mithril, even though the price of all the materials have increased. Or, you still lose the same proportion if you cut gems. The easiest way to rise above inflation is to not use GP as a store of value; where in the real world this would be difficult to do in runescape is easy because all items are created equal, and age has nothing to do with them.

Sharpened Weapons, Buffered Armour
So, anything you smith before adamant plate bodies will widely be considered junk. The goal of this update is to make weapons worth more experience, so that they're worth more. The goal is to also make having a higher smithing level actually give players a bonus in game, similar to herblore. Sharpening a weapon gives one third of the experience used to smith that item. A player may attempt to sharpen a weapon up to two times, with the indication of blunt, honed (h), and razor (r.). With each attempt at sharpening the weapon, a player may fail to sharpen it, receiving no experience and thus destroying the weapon. A destroyed weapon then becomes scrap - scrap is smith-able into bars, for the full amount of experience. It takes three pieces of scrap to make a bar, and each failed weapon gives up to two pieces of scrap times the number of bars that went in (the higher your smithing level, the more you get back). Players may not sharpen bolts, dart tips, nails, arrow heads, limbs, throwing knives, or warhammers. A blunt weapon gives no bonus to its stats, as it would be exactly like smithing the normal object. A honed weapon gives +15% bonus to its attack stats, and a +10% strength bonus. A razor weapon gives +30% bonus to its attack stats, and a +20% strength bonus. Honed and razor weapons are not tradable, and may be used on PVP or BH worlds. However, if used on PVP or BH worlds, the weapons will degrade faster. Players are limited to banking 100 honed and 100 razor weapons of each type of weapon. Honed and razor weapons typically have a lifespan of 3 fighting hours, after that they either become blunt, or scrap (depends on the player's smithing level). On a PVP or BH world, they have a lifespan of 15 fighting minutes, and are guarenteed to become scrap afterwards. It is possible to request assist. Buffering Armour is the same concept, except its adding more metal to armour. It takes 1 bar to buffer a piece of armour, with a chance of failure depending on level. If a player fails to smith, they lose the bar. Buffered armour is tradable and may be used in BH or PVP. It gives a 10% defense bonus to every category, and a -5% defense bonus to magic defense. Buffered armour has a lifespan of 1 hour, and if worn may not be traded. Buffered armour degrades into regular armour. Players are limited to banking 100 buffered pieces of each type of armour. Warhammers are abled to be buffered, it gives the weapon a +30% bonus to its attack stats and a 20% bonus to strength. It is not tradable, but may be used in PVP or BH. The buffered warhammer has a lifespan of 3 fighting hours, or 15 minutes on a PVP or BH world. Probability of failure is determined by smithing level. Players with 50% of the level required to make that item are able to attempt to sharpen or buffer weapons and armor. Players with the level required to smith, +2 will never fail. However, sharpening a weapon from honed (h) to razor (r.) will always have an inherit chance of failure at 20% in addition to their chance of failure. Thoughts? Comments?

US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court
You brought being Catholic into this. I wanted to make sure you didn't misrepresent the Church's teachings. I apologize if I sounded sarcastic, or like I was directly attacking you. You are scared! But there is nothing to be afraid of. It is alright. Everything's going to be OK. Let me comfort you: legalizing gay marriage isn't going to make it harder for you to get married or take away any rights from heterosexuals in any way. Newsflash: no one is trying to hurt you! No one wants to take away your rights. You are the only one who wants to take away others' rights. Maybe this is why you are so afraid; if gays were the majority you think they would not let straights marry. But you are wrong to think that everyone is scared like you. Gays aren't scared. It takes courage to come out as gay in the United States. Who said I was scared? As it is, it takes more courage to take a stand against liberalism and being "politically correct." It takes more courage to "say it like it is", have beliefs and stand up for them than to let others decide for you. As far as "no one is trying to hurt you", This is not directly attacking me, but its attacking things I believe in. To the very title of this thread - "US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court - Gays fight the power in California" I think its ironic that the "power" they're fighting are the 51% that voted against gay marriages.

US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court
If you're Catholic, then you'll know the purpose of marriage is for two to become one flesh - i.e. procreation. It takes a man and a woman to preform the conjugal act, it can't be preformed by a man and a man or a woman and a woman. You'll also know as a Catholic that if you're gay, you're still called to be chaste, just like any heterosexual. This means if you're not married, you're not being impure or looking at impure materials. It also means that you're not having relations with anyone. If you're married, you're still called to be chaste. As in, sex is for procreation, so using contraception is sinful. It also means that you're to accept any children as blessings (not killing them), and to not have extramarital affairs. It also means that you're not to get divorced all willy-nilly (til death do you part). You already knew that though, because you're a devout Catholic. Equal protection under the law means that civil unions should enjoy the exact same benefit as marriage, but it doesn't have to be called marriage, and it shouldn't be called marriage. Right now, there's nothing illegal about being in a civil union. There's nothing to legalize. My priest told me that if the state recognized marriage as the union between two individuals, that the church would probably separate itself entirely from the legal process - getting married in the church would no longer make your marriage legally recognized, and vice-versa (making it a pain in the neck to get married as a Catholic). @Nick_6464 You're intolerant, and you're just as bad as those who "hate gays for being gay". Just because you support the gay side doesn't mean you get a free pass on intolerance.

US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court
Majority of reasons are about money, but that's why I made sure to include at least one that wasn't. There's laws about discrimination, but there's no laws against the KKK getting together to have hate rallies. And even if there was, you might never change their hearts or minds. Its the same way with this issue, and trying to pretend otherwise is just being obtuse.

US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court
Why do people want Gay Marriage? Over the past 50 years, legislatures have worked hard to give benefits to the nuclear family - a mom, a dad, and kids. Tax benefits. Not having to testify against your spouse. Insurance benefits. Inheritance laws from wills. The list goes on; these rules have developed slowly. If gays are able to be married, they get all of these privileges in one fell swoop. As much as they hate to say it, Its about money. Of course everyone will say "We want equal protection under the law", or "We want the respect of others". Naming it marriage won't give you that. Newsflash, there are still bigots who are racist. It isn't illegal to be racist. Calling it marriage might not make it acceptable in everyone's eyes. Some people like to use the phrase - "You can't legislate morality" -- they'll usually use that argument when relating abortion to prohibition. As much as I hate that statement, it is to some extent true - you can't make a person believe things are right or wrong. But here's a phrase that's even better - You can't legislate respect. edit:changed rights to privileges.

US Gay Marriage Ban Challenged in Federal Court
The institution of marriage has increasingly become more and more trash over the past 10 years. And its not just gays wanting to marry, its divorce, its premarital relations, its extramarital affairs, impure materials to impure actions. I wonder how long it'll take for someone to try and marry their dog. Probably in 20 years. Sorry if my beliefs aren't popular. No, actually, I don't apologize that my beliefs aren't popular, because I'm saddened that they're not. And don't try to tell me that I'm just intolerant, ignorant, or prejudiced. You who are politically correct offend me. Anyhow, you know why the Supreme Court ruled that the court dialogues weren't to be put on YouTube? It's because they feared for the safety and the well being of those who testified. Keep that in mind if you chose to reply to me; I'd hate to see the highest court in the land be right for once.

KBD and Dragon Med made F2P?
F2p could use a couple boss monsters. I would not mind seeing the KBD or this Giant Mole thingy as F2P. Higher level bones might be a welcome addition to F2P, but another solution would be make it drop 2 big bones instead of 1 dragon bones (or something like that). It might also be a good idea to rework the drop table, so the KBD doesn't become something like the hellhound in the volcano - completely useless for anything. As far as d'hide is concerned, and other P2P only items - limps are dropped by many things, but are pretty much useless in F2P (unless you go to the apothecary, but money is lost and no experience is gained, and time is wasted). If these items became F2P but had no purpose, and could still be dropped, I don't think anyone would complain. I'd enjoy a challenge, and with the current stats of F2P armour, it would be a challenge.

World Record Held by Runescape Player
Qeltar, I hate to attack you personally, but you're being a bit of a hypocrite. You're telling us that this individual has a problem because they're addicted to runescape, but I look at your signature and I can't help but notice "Qeltar, aka Charles Kozierok Webmaster, RuneScoop - Premium RuneScape Information for Expert Players Featuring the best guide to making money on RuneScape, with over 450 methods and variations fully explained!" [sarcasm] How much time and effort did you put into that? You seriously need to get help... you're spending too much time with runescape. 200m total xp in runescape is just too much, running a premium website that supplies the best information takes too much time. You need a social life, not one with runescape. I bet you're jealous because you've logged in for 500 days, and you know you'll never ever ever catch up. You have no excuse for any of that. GF nerd. [/sarcasm] I don't know you at all, just like you don't know this person at all. So quit judging them, and I'll quit judging you.

No updates?
so catch up on all the other new content you haven't tried out yet, or take a few hours to grind your favorite skill. Even one update a week is a pretty major accomplishment for a complex game like runescape, and I think we've all come to expect too much from jagex.

World Record Held by Runescape Player
To everyone that has posted about how this person must have *no life* - you made me lol a little. Its like the pot is calling the kettle black. Look at the facts - you've played runescape at least once, you're posting on a forum about runescape, and yet you're still telling us how this person has less of a life than you? Also, as far as people saying "I couldn't live with myself if I knew I played that much" - if you keep logging into runescape, you're coming closer still to breaking that record. I'm not sure if I've ever had a day we're I've played more than 8 hours of runescape. I'm usually pretty fidgetty about the internets, and one thing won't keep me entertained for more than about 3 hours. I think the longest period of time in which I've been logged in for is around 6 hours straight, and that was in my early strength grind. Recently I've been logged in more and more, but I'm always multitasking, so about 1/2 my time is spent concentrating on different things. On Topic: I'm not sure if this record is *fair* in the fact that there are many many more games on the internet, however they don't track your times like Jagex likes to do. I'm pretty sure there are games online that other people like and play just as much, but they don't log times. Regardless of whatever anyone says, 700 days is alot. I wonder why they didn't give an exact amount, along with a date- or the account. Gratz on the record.

Favourite Skill / Least favourite skill
GOP is one of my favorite minigames, making Runecrafting one of my top favorite skills. I enjoy how fast crafting can be when you're willing to spend a little money. I hate how slow and costly F2P prayer is... the clicking gives me nightmares. I also dislike range with a passion, until a week ago it was my lowest leveled skill.
-
The differens between the beasts lvl and my combat lvl when they stop attacking
if you can survive for something like 15 minutes, they become non-aggressive. For mining you might never have 15 minutes before you bank... but its handy to know if you're doing something like, range or mage, and you want to safe spot 'em.
