  1. I'm told the xp rates are identical at the two courses. So it shouldn't make a difference which one you use, although you might as well do each of them at least enough to get the Agile clothes.
  2. I would argue that the Saradomin Sword is better for places where you need crush, because its crush option trains strength whereas the Zammy Spear's crush option trains controlled or defensive. Strength xp is more valuable than controlled or defense xp, because you can't train it with an abyssal whip. And the damage output of the two weapons is more or less identical in crush mode. However, that doesn't change the fact that the Zamorakian Spear is still the best stab weapon in the game for Aquanites and the Corporeal Beast, and that it's much cheaper than the Sara Sword for waterfiends and gargoyles with the same damage output.
  3. You didn't mention your slayer level. That's relevant for two reasons. First, if your slayer level is low enough that you should be training it anyway, it becomes an obvious way to add to your charm count without really trying. Second, one of my favorite slayer monsters is the dust devil. Dust devils are not as awesome for charms as waterfiends, but they have a few key advantages: they have very profitable drops that will easily fund your summoning training, they can be killed without the expensive gear and high levels you need for waterfiends, and out of all the top charm droppers, they provide the best combat experience. Also, since they're in the Chaos Tunnels, you can use a combat familiar, which will be a good thing even at a low-ish summoning level. (Their defence is weak enough that even low-level combat familiars can still hit frequently.) You mentioned that you had 60+ in everything but summoning, so if you haven't already gotten 65 slayer, it might be worth training slayer a bit more, then fighting dust devils until you get enough charms for 68 summoning--a bunyip goes a long way towards letting you comfortably kill waterfiends. Once you get your ranged up to 70 and your summoning up to 68, you should be able to gear up in Karil's and a Sara Sword or Zammy Spear with super sets and a bunyip, and you'll have no trouble at waterfiends. But even before then, they're still a viable option for charms, and you can feel free to try them out as well.
  4. Fishing can't even break 60k xp/hr, so defence will absolutely be faster, although as has already been noted, the methods you mentioned are inefficient choices.
  5. This is a great thread and I like almost all of the suggestions. On #18, though, Jagex already said that multiple units can't be selected in Mobilizing Armies because of technical limitations, so that's out... There are a few small changes that I've noticed and I've been keeping a list when I think of them...here's what I have so far: [*:1cpt2s9b]Automatically finish off gargoyles, desert lizards, and other slayer monsters that require a finishing item--clicking on them each time is annoying as hell! [*:1cpt2s9b]Similarly, automatically purify warped tortoises and terrorbirds, or at least have a left-click Purify option for the ones you haven't purified already. [*:1cpt2s9b]Planted spirit trees have no right-click teleport option! You need to go through the dialogue. That should be fixed. [*:1cpt2s9b]For some reason you can only have one set of lumberjack clothing at a time. I've tried to get multiples, but after you have all the pieces they stop dropping. This should be fixed, so that I can have a bank placeholder for my lumberjack pants!
  6. To me, it sounds like his question is: will you try to put a stop to AFK training? It appears that he is not directly asking for a affirmation/confirmation of the rules, but simply if they will be putting a stop to it, (his calling it a "problem" would hint at him knowing it was most likely against the rules). I don't need clarification because I don't really care. If people want to make this a rampant problem, it will only make the process for fixing it faster. So in short, he didn't answer the question ;) Coming after "many think that it is ok, since you don't stop them from doing it," I'm sure you can see how it could be interpreted as a request for clarification, regardless of the original intent.
  7. I just finished reading the live Q&A. From the sound of it, they reiterated that AFK'ing and autotyping are against the rules and should be reported, and that price manipulation is against the spirit of the game, but not the letter. They also said this: So they have no current plans to increase enforcement, but they will be meeting soon to discuss the issue as a direct result of this Q&A. Hope that answers your question. *shrug*
  8. Yes, we know it's against the rules. Are you going to try to stop AFK training? Well, we don't know because they didn't answer that. With as many questions as there were, they could have picked better ones than they did I'm sure. They stated flatly that AFK training is against the rules. And the question appears to me to be asking for affirmation/confirmation of the rules, not elaboration on future plans for preventing/punishing breaches. Hardly avoiding the issue. Again, more an issue with the question, not the answer. If you want clarification, why don't you ask about it again in the live Q&A?
  9. The title is misleading, since the actual evidence seems just as likely if not more likely to suggest that depressed people are attracted to gaming because it provides an escape mechanism to help them cope. That's pretty much the opposite of what the title implies. "Gaming linked to depression" is not the same as "Games are depressing." If you think that way, you could also conclude that cough syrup causes colds and that eating causes hunger. [hide=xkcd][/hide]
  10. Oh come on, guys. What do you want to hear? How exactly were these questions being dodged? From where I'm standing, none of their answers were evasive, and they explained why they couldn't answer any part of a question that they couldn't answer. Have you considered that maybe the answers are boring because the questions were boring?
  11. There is no 7 main Plague City quests. Only 6 (change "six more parts" to "five more parts"). You might be mistaking Roving Elves as a Plague quest, but it is actually the sequel of Waterfall Quest. The relationship between Roving Elves and the current Plague City quests is just the area, the elven race and some characters. The storyline is, however, different from the Plague line (RE doesn't continue Regicide and MEP1 doesn't continue RE), which makes Roving Elves a side quest. Well, seeing as Roving Elves is required for Mourning's End Part 1, I think it's reasonable to include it, as it isn't optional like the incredibly lame Catapult Construction.

The key here is how much respect you give to other accomplishments that require similar amounts of time. Skillcapes like fletching often attract a disproportionate amount of disdain from people who would otherwise admire something like a set of full dragon, a low-end rare, or a set of Lord Marshal clothes. It's hypocritical to think of a fletching cape as n00by if you find a thieving cape to be a significant accomplishment.[/hide] I agree with this statement, however just because a skill takes the same amount of time to train, doesn't make them as hard. Blackjacking is a very painful way to train thieving, a bit like old-style fletching, and Pyramid Plunder requires alot more concentration. Many skills can be levelled to 99 in the same time or even faster than fletching, but in fairiness, other than cooking, they're all harded... For example; 99 Range using chins... Over 300k xp an hour, however you need to find the 45m+ to get it. 99 Construction.... I've heard about 150k+ xp an hour, however very expensive. 99 Pray... Very fast xp, but again very expensive. I simply dont agree with his rant, because fletching, now, is TOO easy. You could get it in the same it takes to make the money for full dragon. Prayer, construction, range, and such would be totally out of the ballpark, because you have to lump in the time needed to earn the money in order to evaluate them accurately. [hide=Aside]Range might take 45 hours to train to 99, but then it also takes another ~150 hours for an average player to earn the money for it. It averages to just slightly faster than woodcutting teaks to 99 woodcutting. So if you evaluated skillcapes solely on the basis of average time required for 99, ranged would be roughly on equal footing with woodcutting.[/hide] As far as thieving taking additional concentration, that's balanced out because it's also faster xp than fletching. Well, unless you're fletching something (like arrows) that takes just as much concentration. And anyway, firemaking gets the same bad rap as fletching and cooking, and it requires constant attention just like thieving. In fact, it's also slower than thieving.

  14. ...or because they need to train their slayer in order to unlock content, e.g. slayer rings, broad bolts, broad bolt fletching, quest requirements... You look kind of silly when you forget that part. :ugeek:
  15. Either way, it's an exemplary illustration of what a skill should have in terms of high-level content.
  16. Jad couldn't possibly be the strongest monster in Runescape. He can't even take on 6k roosters.
  17. There are people who don't read the dialogue? How do you guys know what to do next?
  18. I think the intent behind making it a weekly thing was "Hey, that boss fight was really cool. It stinks that the players can only fight it once. Hey, I know! Let's let them fight it again!" They just decided not to give it any drops or anything. It's just for fun.
  19. Well, you can thieve charms.
  20. Yes. Like I said. Mechscape. Runescape's gameplay, mechanics, quests, and general premise are too firmly based in humanity. Offering a choice between different playable races is only a limiting factor (because by choosing one, you don't get access to the others) that doesn't have enough added value to be worth the downsides. There's really nothing good you could accomplish by changing your character's race that you couldn't accomplish by having mentors of different races who can teach you the same racial abilities. And that would take up less development time.
  21. I have trouble thinking of quest lines that don't have new updates on the horizon. New installments of Elemental Workshop, Plague City, Red Axe, Myreque, Mahjarrat, Fremennik, and Fairy Tale are all known to be in development. And all the new quests this year (except In Pyre Need, which was a holdout from last year, and is more of a D&D than a quest anyway) have contributed to existing storylines, even if only tying up a few little loose ends like curing King Vargas's curse or finding out what's in the mumbling bonesack. So I think Jagex is going in the right direction. Quite a few aren't in development. Plauge City doesn't have one any time soon. I know people think it is, but it's not. The Pirate/Rabid Jack isn't in dvelopment. Penguin just had one, so it's on backburner for a bit. The desert stuff looks kinda soft. Unless tied into Mahjarrat, which is may a little, but I doubt it. Still can't get into Menaphos. Lunar Isle looks like it had more coming, but doesn't look like anytime soon. Elemental Workshop? Maybe, but I haven't heard anyone from Jagex even mention it, let alone them say they are developing it. Aprosandra, only if it's tied into the dwarves would this be considered devloped. Oh yeah, still no Archeron, or however it's spelled. The History line. Slug got tied into penguins, so they have been merged. I don't know if it's technically a quest line, but I really want a new troll quest. Oh yes. Menaphos, penguins, pirates, Arposandra. If you haven't been following the chaos elemental's clues, though: [hide=Explanation] [*:2xc2c6g8]The punchline to the peanut joke is "It was assaulted." That section is about Barbarian Assault. Postie Pete also mentioned that the suitcase smelled like Dagganoths, so some sort of Fremennik update, which could be a new Fremennik quest. [*:2xc2c6g8]The GE order form contains pairs of words that are missing their partner. The missing words are "Red Axe Chaos Dwarf Machine." [*:2xc2c6g8]The "Mentor a Bandwagon" is an acronym for "Rag and Bone Man Two," quest No. 156 [*:2xc2c6g8]"Hardens South" is an acronym for "Use shorthand," and the note is written in shorthand by Zimberfizz warning us about Nomad. Speculation is that Nomad is a mahjarrat in disguise or something, and that this ties into Mysteries of the Mahjarrat. [*:2xc2c6g8]The "Breakfast" note contain elements whose atomic symbols spell out "Workshop." The morse code means "3." Elemental Workshop 3. [*:2xc2c6g8]The boxes are a map of the Temple of Light. It means the next Plague City quest is in the blue boxes stage of development. [*:2xc2c6g8]The list of rock stars contains letters that spell "Mining" and "Fishing."[/hide] So yeah. At the very least we have Elemental Workshop and Plague City sequels in the works. We have Fairy Tale and Red Axe confirmed in dev blogs. Mysteries of the Mahjarrat has pretty clearly been planned out start-to-finish and is being released in chapters. And the Myreque quest was confirmed in the last Chaos Elemental hint. (Keys are to the left of Mr E, Utrwir Wirdy, remember?) And who knows what else they're working on that we don't know about?
  22. Three hours is pretty good when you consider you save 300k experience. Might as well keep going; like you said, talon beasts and snakes rock.
  23. In regards to this: I have trouble thinking of quest lines that don't have new updates on the horizon. 24. Mechscape is confirmed to have four different playable races. Thought I would point that out.
  25. I think you'd want an anti-dragon shield, so a Godsword would probably be a bad choice. :ugeek:
