I have read it, and it was awful. That said, it's considered a classic by many people and you shouldn't change your mind based on the opinion of some random kid on the internet. Either way, it's worth reading just so you know about it when some "Libertarian" starts pulling quotes out of it as evidence in philosophical discussions. Why it was bad: 1. The story was awful 2. It was 1000+ pages of small text, and about five of them said anything relevant to the story 3. The characters were silly and one-sided 4. The wordage was mediocre at best 5. The ideas behind it were ridiculous and inane, and anyone who tries to cite it as evidence for anything will end up running into a brick wall when Rand takes a sudden turn. 6. I basically saw it as an anti-communist fear-mongering right-wing 1000-page propaganda pamphlet that helped the God-fearing Republicans regain confidence after the fall of the Soviet Union. I don't cite examples because I don't want to ruin the story for anyone who actually might enjoy it.

This approach to governing does not benefit the community as a whole, and, if applied often, will only create dissent. I agree that a government should lead its people to think it will govern this way. But I do not agree that they should stand by the principle in an extreme situation like this one.

Your sample in this case is biased. These ads are posted on TIF specifically because they make no sense - most address the issues to some extent. The majority of political ads I have seen have attempted to criticize the opponent rather than promote the sponsor. Yes, they aren't always nonsense. But I wouldn't say they make rational arguments about political issues.

This was in my Facebook newsfeed, copied to the letter: "wow omg that was some crazyyyy stuff last night damn gurl u know how to bend haha when i walked into that room with u and hahah omg i was like holy crap i didnt know u could bend like that gurllllllllllllllllllll" I did not exaggerate at all. To be honest, drop bears are nothing to be worried about. Just put a dab of toothpaste behind each ear. The strong smell of the mint will make you less attractive to them, so they won't drop on you.
